  • On day 5 in St Lucia we start the day ag the local market.
Located on the north side of the Soufrière dock this busy little marketplace comes alive on the site if the local bus station and its frequented by locals and tourists alike, in search of
Seasonal produce, arts crafts and souvenirs.
On my last visit to St Lucia we got here around 4am abd saw the fishermen coming in with the catch of the day. However, today the meat and fish vendors are nowhere to be seen.
Nonetheless, there's still many local traders selling numerous local Staples such as veggies harvested from small gardens in their back yards.
Here you'll find everything from fresh eggs to turnips, carrots, yam, dasheen and other ground Provisions or root Vegetables as most of ust call them.
Then there's any array of local spcices available, coconut water, sweet breads, breadfruit and everything in between.
This a great alternative to the large, indoor shopping malls, certainly in a place like Saint Lucia where the weather is almost always ideal.
I just love the vibe energy and overall atmosphere of these local markets as am not one for big glossy shopping malls.
But am mainly here to fill my bantu belly and satisfy my African Appetite with some local offerings.
As its the morning we're going Wonder round the market grab some fruits and a local breakfast....
After that its on to local eatery Fedo's Restaurant for a much needed chicken roti and piton beer.
I then end the video with another hearty locally cooked meal.
