When approaching relationships, you gotta have low expectations, and high standards for the other person. Know your worth, and know what you want from the other person, while still understanding that we are all fallible, and won't always fulfill each others expectations, in every situation. And know that you can't ever settle when it comes to the standards you hold people to. You deserve their respect, effort, unconditional love, and nothing less 💛
I couldn't disagree more- there's a difference between self- worth and putting the onus on the other person to raise to your standards. If you're not compatible in terms of values and standards, then the relationship must remain superficial. When you find you life partner seeing your own fallibility and wanting to improve, while being prepared to forgive, is a much healthier recipe for a meaningful relationship.
There's a fine line between being controlling and asking for the truth. There's also a fine line between seeing signs of unfaithfullness and becoming paranoid. A lot of the times we are blinded from the truth because we assume our partner will be honest with us, just as we are with them. I spent 2 years in a relationship believing I was the crazy one, that I was being paranoid, because that's all I was told. The toxic person that is being unfaithful will do anything to hide their tracks, even if it means YOU feeling guilty questioning them. Relationships are one of the hardest things in the world, but you need to find the person that wants to try just as hard as you to make each other happy. You shouldn't be fighting over who's turn it is to do this or that, you should we working together, everyday.
To the people saying how they seem really off in this video: That’s the reality of marriage. Sometimes things are rough and don’t seem to be going how you’d like. Based on how they’ve been in the past and the kind of people they are, they’re most likely working through it on their own, whatever it is. They said it in this video, they’re in it for the long haul, no matter what. And more than that, they do a good job of keeping God at the center of their marriage, and God will use whatever they’re going through to ultimately make their relationship stronger in the end. That’s the beauty of marriage, how God intends it. Two broken people go into it with their own baggage and pain, but through years of God molding and refining, they come through it stronger, with God at the center, for life. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

I love Gabe’s in depth answers! Doesn’t matter if you talk a lot. I will take depth over surface any day! If he feels bad about doing it he will lose that part of him and he shouldn’t!

I can see more of that possibly in their older videos but I think he is just naturally more extroverted and inclined to talk where Jess (although has become much more extroverted over time) is naturally more introverted and doesn’t love giving longer explanations. It’s not that one is better than the other. I personally am more like Gabe and have felt guilty when people tell me when I am explaining something more in depth. I could see that same thing towards the end and I would hate for him to not be himself in front of the camera even if the video is a couple minutes longer. I love them both and have watched their videos for years now! Just food for thought...

Honestly I love going into depth and could talk for hours when I am comfortable with someone. And I get the vibe that Jess is like that too and would love to talk more in their videos but with Gabe she can't because he is the one always talking for hours and going into depth and the videos would take way too long. (In her videos she seems way more comfortable talking) And don't get me wrong I like Gabe and his answers are interesting! But I would love to hear Jess's side too! I know Jess doesn’t like when you talk really long but I think it’s good! You really dive it and take your time with the answer. Take as long as you like Gabe. Your insight on work, marriage, etc is always super helpful to me and my husband.
I’ve been reading through the comments about how they seem off in this video, maybe they’re going through a rough patch and people saying how they’re not compatible or Jess is too controlling. Marriage is not always a smooth road, there is going to be rough patches and disagreements and tension. Like every other thing in life, you work through it. That’s probably what they are doing now. We can’t expect them to fake it and be happy all the time. I think they are speaking from their heart in this video even if they were in a bad place here. But after their anniversary trip and their month of travelling, having tome for just them, I think they worked through whatever was going on. And I also think they’re working on any problems (Jess being more independent in America, Gabe working on his trust issues, etc). Realistically, they show themselves as a “real” married couple that doesn’t fake the happiness all the time.

I use to do this all the time. When I was younger, I'm 44 years old now. I use to get so nervous and feel like I over shared and over exposed my personality, and now that person will no longer want to hang with me. The older I got I found that not to be the case. I like things that I like and have hobbies that no one I know likes. Which means I spend a lot of time solo which is 100% okay. I use to get so sad that there was no one who wanted to come and hang with me and check out stuff I liked doing. I waisted most of my 20s waiting around and praying for a BFF. Then one day a music group I liked when I was a teenager got back together and it made me determined to actually travel and go to their events no matter what. Plus it made me become more mature too. I got my first ever debt card, smart phone, and lap top in my 30s. Its like a whole new world opened up for me and I could finally become a part of it. That was when I realized I no longer have to sit around and wait to go and do things that I want to do. And I'm so much more happier in my life. And if no one wants to hang with me then they are the ones missing out not me. When people ask me what I got up to, and when I tell them they are telling me how great it is that I am getting out there and having fun. I just went through a shitty break up with a guy who always made me feel insecure and needy. My #1 advise to my friends getting married since my husband and i were the first one. Make time for each other the day/night of your wedding and make memories with each other that night. After our first dance we both kinda got separated and pulled by friends because everyone is just so happy for you and wants to talk. #1 advise I give to everyone. Well me and my bf broke up 4 months ago after 6 years of dating. He said he just needed time apart to think and work on himself because I guess he felt scared to take the next step of getting engaged. 3 months later he comes to see me and tells me he hasn’t given up on us. He just needed time to regroup. It’s hard though bc I’m happy that he still loves me but I never doubted us. I always knew i loved him more than anything. I would tell you maybe he just needs to work on himself. I think it’s more him than you. You should work on yourself and being happy without him. True, only still have high standards for the person you end up with. And never lower them. And make sure they are practical standards too. That way they can be reached. The number one standard is they have to have a deep walk with Jesus.

And more than that, they do a good job of keeping God at the center of their marriage, and God will use whatever they’re going through to ultimately make their relationship stronger in the end. That’s the beauty of marriage, how God intends it. I can see more of that possibly in their older videos but I think he is just naturally more extroverted and inclined to talk where Jess (although has become much more extroverted over time) is naturally more introverted and doesn’t love giving longer explanations. It’s not that one is better than the other.
I personally am more like Gabe and have felt guilty when people tell me when I am explaining something more in depth. I could see that same thing towards the end and I would hate for him to not be himself in front of the camera even if the video is a couple minutes longer. I love them both and have watched their videos for years now! Just food for thought...

Honestly I love going into depth and could talk for hours when I am comfortable with someone. And I get the vibe that Jess is like that too and would love to talk more in their videos but with Gabe she can't because he is the one always talking for hours and going into depth and the videos would take way too long. (In her videos she seems way more comfortable talking) And don't get me wrong I like Gabe and his answers are interesting! But I would love to hear Jess's side too! I have someone in my family who reminds me of Gabe and it can get a little frustrating sometimes.
I know Jess doesn’t like when you talk really long but I think it’s good! You really dive it and take your time with the answer. Take as long as you like Gabe. Your insight on work, marriage, etc is always super helpful to me and my husband.
I’ve been reading through the comments about how they seem off in this video, maybe they’re going through a rough patch and people saying how they’re not compatible or Jess is too controlling. Marriage is not always a smooth road, there is going to be rough patches and disagreements and tension. Like every other thing in life, you work through it. That’s probably what they are doing now. We can’t expect them to fake it and be happy all the time. I think they are speaking from their heart in this video even if they were in a bad place here. But after their anniversary trip and their month of travelling, having tome for just them, I think they worked through whatever was going on. And I also think they’re working on any problems (Jess being more independent in America, Gabe working on his trust issues, etc). Realistically, they show themselves as a “real” married couple that doesn’t fake the happiness all the time.

I use to do this all the time. When I was younger, I'm 44 years old now.
I use to get so nervous and feel like I over shared and over exposed my personality, and now that person will no longer want to hang with me.
The older I got I found that not to be the case. I like things that I like and have hobbies that no one I know likes.
Which means I spend a lot of time solo which is 100% okay. I use to get so sad that there was no one who wanted to come and hang with me and check out stuff I liked doing.
I waisted most of my 20s waiting around and praying for a BFF.
Then one day a music group I liked when I was a teenager got back together and it made me determined to actually travel and go to their events no matter what.
Plus it made me become more mature too. I got my first ever debt card, smart phone, and lap top in my 30s. Its like a whole new world opened up for me and I could finally become a part of it.
That was when I realized I no longer have to sit around and wait to go and do things that I want to do. And I'm so much more happier in my life.
And if no one wants to hang with me then they are the ones missing out not me.
When people ask me what I got up to, and when I tell them they are telling me how great it is that I am getting out there and having fun. And one lady said she liked that about me.😁

The one thing I want before I get engaged is to have my finances in order and most of my debt paid off bc it’s not my partners debt but mine. I would never burden him with that. My goal for 2020 is to get 90 percent of my debt paid off!

I just went through a shitty break up with a guy who always made me feel insecure and needy. It's been so tough getting through it but I'm getting there and I just want to say seeing the love you two have for each other and that you SHOULD expect your partner to care and be there for you shows me that true love really does exist :) and I'll find it. My #1 advise to my friends getting married since my husband and i were the first one. Make time for each other the day/night of your wedding and make memories with each other that night. After our first dance we both kinda got separated and pulled by friends because everyone is just so happy for you and wants to talk. #1 advise I give to everyone. guys how do u feel about this. a guy i am in love with broke up w me after 3 1/2 yrs together. it was perfect and it didn’t end badly i still love him and respect him so much. after being depressed due to family problems, he said he slowly felt like he wanted us to be apart and learn how to be happy without each other. he said he doesn’t know what he wants and has gotten used to being by himself. we still check up on each other and stuff. i am still truly crushed and heartbroken, i wonder every day about why this happened to us and know whatever happens is the way it’s supposed to be. i am just having a lot of trouble accepting it

Well me and my bf broke up 4 months ago after 6 years of dating. He said he just needed time apart to think and work on himself because I guess he felt scared to take the next step of getting engaged. 3 months later he comes to see me and tells me he hasn’t given up on us.
