- Race fans, it's time to refresh our top racers to close out 2021 and it's been a great year for racing games on the Nintendo Switch. Plenty of new entries heading into my personal top 10 on the Nintendo Switch! What's your favorite racer and what would you like to see? I think we need F1 on the Nintendo Switch personally!

I've got Rally Rush on my Wish List but I think I will also be adding Mantis since I do enjoy that top down look.
So glad you made this video! I was just thinking about this exact thing in the car today and was gonna look for a video, because I've been in the mood to play a racing game.
Would have loved to see a mention of the framerate and local multiplayer options for each game. I think both (especially framerate) are critical information for any racer. Thanks.
Mantis burn racing looks really fun and if anyone is interested, Art of Rally is also a fantastic car game.
Crazy that Asphalt 9 didn't make the list but most of these are great games!

Not sure if it counts as a racer or sports game but Lonely Mountains Downhill is very addictive.
I bought horizon chase turbo thanks to your recommendations during black friday. It's so addictive really, sometimes I play with casual friends and they are like wtf with that supernintedo game (graphics) but once they start playing it, they become addicted too.

Ignition was one of my favorite racing games of my childhood and Mantis Burn, with that isometric perspective, hit right in those feels.
Hot wheels unleashed is my favorite racing game in so long, everything about it just feels right for me
A good list, but I would add Riptide GP: Renegade. I really love this game! A wave race 64 inspired game done right.

I feel like Crash Team Racing is such a slept on game, its great.
Yeah, I enjoy it way more than Mario kart 8, it's harder to master but when you master it and you blue fire the entire race it's so much fun !
Hope to see more arcade racers like Cruis’n in the coming year, maybe San Francisco Rush.
I love Fast RMX its so fast and addictive and those futuristic tracks are hard and awesome, just pulled the trigger on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Now i want to play Mantis Burn Racing i like the top down view and what really sold me was the weapons. Hope it goes in sale soon or else ill be forced to buy it at full price down the road.

I once played "split second" for the Xbox which I liked even more.
Horizon Chase Turbo and Cruisn Blast are so fun! i honestly don’t really like realistic racing games but I love arcade racers and those two are incredibly fun
For some reason I felt that there weren't that many great racers on Switch (besides Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) but you made me add almost all of them to the wishlist. Thanks!
I'm a fan of Burnout Paradise Remastered. I like the other activities, like road rage, more than the actual racing though
Great list here. I'd probably change out Mantis for Burnout and move a few around in position but you've definitely nailed the best ones here. GRIP Combat Racing is one other that deserves an honorable mention. It is a great combat racing game that is the true spiritual successor to the Rollcage series from the PS1.
I think Grip deserves a mention for well fast arcade racing
Just picked up Burnout Paradise. It's alright, I played it back when it first came out. It's pretty cool for the switch ( considering you can take it anywhere ). Star Wars pod racing though, one of the best racing games
Nice video, Alex! I’m going to throw a little love to Redout. Yeah, I know it suffers from some graphical issues, but I really love it’s control scheme with using the right analog stick for sliding and pitch and there’s a ton of great and imaginative courses to race through. Rush Rally 3 is really exceptional offering up some great control (you can map your acceleration and braking to the right stick) a ton of courses, some great arcade modes, great career modes, rally cross races, and even allowing you to change the POV to more of a top-down experience- it’s terrific!
Horizon Chase Turbo is so fun, and always appreciate how cheap it can go on sale.

One genre i always go back to is racing. Love this video. I'm enjoying horizon and cruisin blast. Good list!
One of the better racing games that I’ve enjoyed playing is “Rise: Race the Future.”
Fast RMX is also up there. So strange that there’s no sequel, heck…I think these guys should be contracted by Nintendo to finally make an F-Zero game. If Metroid is able to get a competent developer like MercurySteam to handle the series then I don’t see no problem with another indie-ish developer to tackle a Nintendo IP.
And I only got a chance to play “crusin blast” on a friends Nintendo switch. A pretty damn good arcade racer. Definitely need to get my hands on a physical copy at some point.

They hot wheels game looks pretty great!
They have Hot Pursuit on the switch, I wish they also had Underground 1 and 2, Most Wanted, and Carbon as well. I think the Switch can run those games fine.
License issue
One racer I got on sale for 2.99 a while back was Beach Buggy Racing. Its a simple game. Runs very smooth. And I had a blast playing it. I got about half of the games you mentioned. I think it was a great list. The other half im waiting for sales .

I have just played a bit of Asphalt 9 when I first got the Switch, but never really thought much about racing games on the platform then… this video is making me reconsider that. Thanks!
Totally forgot Mario Kart while watching. LOL. I am waiting for a Hot Wheels bigger discount. My kid grew up, so he doesn't want to play with his toy cars anymore, but sure he'll want to with the video game.
Need for speed is superb. I'd get Mario kart but we have it on the wii u

I shed some tears of joy when I first saw Anakin win that race. I'll definitely have to pick this up and see how it is!
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that I want to play
I've played a few from this list but the racer I played the most on Switch is Asphalt 9: Legends which is F2P n it does have micro transactions but I have put over 400hrs into it without paying a dime since u can just earn pretty much everything through playing the game.
Amazing that pod racer made this list.
A good arcade racer with local multiplayer would be great for the holidays.

I love cruisin blast!
For better sensations, I suggest the dual vibration PXN V900 wheel. You will only have to make a little twist.
SETUP FOR ANALOG PEDALS ON NINTENDO SWITCH - You have to assign pedals to the left stick, here's the trick:
- Hold the wheel’s "PROG" button until the red light flashes quickly.
- Press the right pedal down and the red light will flash slower.
- Quickly press Up on the d-pad.
- Hold the wheel’s "PROG" button until the red light flashes quickly.
- Press the left pedal down and the red light will flash slower.
- Quickly press Down on the d-pad.
From there, racing games for Switch that allows you to assign gas and brake to an analog stick (through the options) like GRID: Autosport or WRC games will perfectly work. After that, you will just have to fine tune the parameters for the wheel's and pedals dead zone and sensitivity in the games settings. You also can set the wheel paddles for shifting gears.

damn man you doing like 3 videos a day!? Supposed to be Christmas break my man. I am not a huge racing game fan but pod racer is def one of the greatest (need some N4Speed Underground2)
Nice list. Great call putting Horizon over Cruis'n. I've played both games extensively (unlocked all cars in Cruis'n and collected all keys, and put a ton of time into Horizon as well). In my mind, there's no comparison. Horizon has *far* more content, as well as ongoing support, seasonal events, etc. I also personally prefer the graphics in Horizon - they just seem "crisper" to me, but that's probably down to personal taste.
Of course, Mario Kart definitely needed that top spot. A few other kart racers are decent, but nothing else really comes close to the perfection of MK8.
Give it time though, maybe cruise will get the same support. Horizon has a head start but I will say publisher wise, I think it’s a released and done but time will tell
@@SwitchCorner Yeah, I got the feeling Cruis'n was a "released and done" deal, but even if they released a major DLC I think Horizon would have the edge with all the ongoing seasonal events, etc. The only thing I could see maybe giving Cruis'n the edge would be online multiplayer in addition to more DLC. Either way, would love for the team behind Cruis'n to come through. That was one of just three Switch games my PS5-loving spouse actually got really into (MH Rise and Stories being the others). Would love more content to drag him back to my favorite console, haha.

No Burnout paradise? Personally I love it. Cruisin Blast is one I want. Horizon I played on my phone and loved it. Cheers Alex, great list of Racing Titles.
Cruis'n has you run as a cyber unicorn among neon cars through a dinosaur world that's falling apart. That's as much as "best racing game ever".
Snowrunner is the best car-centered game, but definitely not a racer. It has, in my opinion, more in common with Snake Pass and Human Fall Flat, but in Skyrim with cars and no combat or even much when it comes to other characters or story. A unique, physics based sandbox, only this time with realistic trucks and trailers instead of 3d platforming and puzzles.
Just the video I needed to see! Been looking for a good racing game to play on the go. Been eyeing Burnout to see if its any good on the switch and this video definitely helped!

It's a fair ranking with good commentary, but can you please consider using longer video segments? I got motion sickness by the time I reached NFSHP.

Who remembers the control config on Gran Turismo where right analog stick was acceleration and brake? Bring that to switch I say. Not perfect but better than all or nothing in my opinion.
I do not! Inertial drift has a unique dual stick system! Back in those days I was all about F1, still am honestly lol
It’s an option on a few racers out there- Rush Rally 3, the WRC games, the TT: Isle of Man games, Virtua Racing, GRID Autosport- all of them will let you map acceleration and braking to the right analog stick.
You might have to redo this topic later when the Disney's free to play racer comes out.
Mantis burn racing is one im interested for because i played a similar game on the ps1 when i was a kid with my brother (but i dont remember the name) and it gives me good memories ☺️

Gear.-Club unlimited 2, Stop being an option for players looking for a simulation racing game?
It is a game with great content and multiplayer, its only flaw is its optimization that causes unexpected closures. But I highly recommend it.
I must admit Hot Wheels has really surprised me, get to race a DeLorean around a mini track. Count me in. Just be careful when you hit 88mph!
Horizon Chase turbo is Really amazing. My friend let me try it and I have a blast playing it.
The lack of analog triggers isnt even a problem to deal with if you have the right gaming accessories with you which is the 8bitdo pro 2. The only problem is for games to map the acceleration and braking to the right stick.
With the pro 2, you can swap the triggers with the right stick in their software and you will have the full console experience, that is if games also supports acceleration and braking onto the right stick
I've got 4 of these, MK8, GRID, Hot Shot Racing and Fast RMX. Hot Shot Racing probably has the most pick up and playability. All great games though, Cruisin Blast at half price is a tempter!

Hotshot racing is good but I do find the rubber banding just slightly too tight! Could have done with tiny bit more leeway. Never even heard of Manits racing, will check it out.
Rise Race the Future isn't bad (if picked up in a sale) and they supported it for a while.

I only quickly ran through the video so maybe you mentioned it. But it's 5 quid and the best of its genre
I would have had Descenders on here too myself, not strictly speaking a "Racing game" though I guess. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good ATV/Quad bike racer on Switch, or failing that which is the best Dirtbike/Motocross game, looking for something on dirty mud tracks, that isn't a rally game.
Think I'm going to check out that Mantis one.

I bought hot shot racing on the last sale. I love the slingshot, makes for super intense racing that's all about building boost and strategic use of it. I honestly thought horizon chase was the same game and although you say they're interchangeable, I need it now that you showed me the Senna content it has.

Need for Speed looks fun though I have to say Hot Wheels is the one really piquing my curiosity. Maybe it's a touch of nostalgia but there's also something charming about the toy in a big world visual.
Not a racing game, but check out Hypercharge: Unboxed for that toy in a big world feel. It's an excellent game as well, with loads of ongoing support.

I'd give Gear Club (2) a mention- along with Fast RMX they put something out which was decent in the early days of the console.

As a huge fan of Wipeout, the best racer here is Axiom Verge.
While I play Mario Kart weekly with a streamer, I am, overall, not a big racer fan. Hot Wheels might be worth a play for me just so I can take control of the TMNT Party Wagon; Crusin' Blast is also on my Wish List. Now, if we could only get a new F-Zero game then Id be in heaven.
These games all look fun, but I wonder if some of them have performance issues or low FPS
After playing Horizon Chase turbo. I've got great expectations about hotshot racing. But I got a little bit disappointing. I recomend skydrift infinity. Not related to cars, and still, awesome Airplane racing game.
racing games are so much fun and if you have a switch is good to see there are lots of options,fast rmx is the definetly the F-zero we never got on the switch, been able to get even free games like aspalt 9.
the champion of multiplayer it will always fall on the mario kart series but we need a new game of course.

Some infers recommendations here. I realize I’m a little under-served when it comes to racers on my switch - just CTR at the moment.
Might pick up another of these in the next sale.
NASCAR heat is brilliant if you like real racing sims like Grid etc
RE: GRID Autosport
Just to let you all know that analogue functionality is accessible in the game. You have a couple of options -
A) edit your controls so that accelerating and braking are mapped to the L (or R) stick, or
B) use / invest in a Gamecube controller (not a Switch controller that looks like a Gamecube controller - you need the analogue triggers) and a Switch to Gamecube controller adapter that plugs into the dock's USB ports. This is the option I use.
Also, I tried online once when it was first released and had a horrible experience of racers deliberately trying to ram me everytime I tried to overtake them. I'm not surprised there's not much of an online community now. Still, accessing Time Trial leaderboards (and ghost data?) is a positive.
I love that GameCube controller, it’s such an unusual controller on reflection, I use it for trials as well so it has a few uses. If we could get F1, that online is amazing because it gives options around the aggression of opponents

I still don't understand how there is no story mode or career mode in Mario kart... how?! What a missed opportunity.

Great video with great games, apart from Horizon Chase Turbo, which is an ugly mobile-looking game. I don't know why so many people like it or why they think it looks retro. Mobile isn't retro. Mantis Burn Racing and Fast RMX mop the floor with that game.
