We’re there Updates/Patches released between it’s 11/2020 release to 2/2021? I know there is DLC (not sure when that came out), but the physical version of the game that came out a few days ago does not include it on the Game Card. You have to download it separately, at least, on the Nintendo Switch version.
I can say this game is without a doubt GOOD. I love the drift mechanics and how the game rewards you for being a skillful driver, and penalizing you just enough to where it doesn’t discourage you but rather encourages you try and master the gameplay. And while some may not be a fan of how racers are on your heel when you’re up front, I personally enjoy it. For one I have played racing games where I get to a point where I’m WAY ahead of the pack and it feels kinda boring, and secondly it feels like I’m going up against other players; there’s no time to relax, you gotta keep on your toes.
Love these low poly style games because they work so well on handheld. (and some of these environments are really nice) This looks great, thanks for the review. 2020 is ending pretty well. Mario, Zelda, a good racing game.
You could of started this review by saying: "Is this a hotshot or a hot mess? Let's find out!". But yeah, I am definitely excited to play this game, as I've been wanting to see arcade racers make a return for so long!
I wish they had gone with a more textured look while still keeping that 80s-90s spirit to the visuals. Something along the lines of that 90's arcade racer game that disappeared.
Really looking forward to this game. Perfect racing game on a portable console. I would also like to recommend Burnout on switch, surprisingly good port. Unfortunately its EA...
I was going to pick up Rise this week seen as though it’s on sale but I might have to change my mind and get this instead. I think the added modes and the nostalgia graphics wins it for me. Great review guys!

Played this game today and liked it. The AI is very aggressive tough but not more then me 😋 There is indeed rubber banding, but that keeps it exciting as well, since driving on the track alone is not as much fun as chasing your appointments
Just arrived to this review and I will say the car selection is amazing. True car people made this game, toyota GT one, clk gtr, the Porsche 935 etc. they know what’s up
Picked this up at the £12.79 price yesterday, and loving it so far. Looking forward to more tracks and such! One thing i wish they'd included is the ability to ser how each driver is different when selecting them, because they are. Also sometimes the AI seems to go out of its way to screw you - maybe i got it unlucky and caught the AI turning the car around after a bad turn, but the AI full-on slammed into me in a head to head collision. Wtf?? Also, the game badly needs a reset button. If you take a bad turn, you habe to reverse and set it right yourself, i think a car reset button would help herr.

I loved some virtua racer on my 32x back in the day. This is for sure giving me the same vibe. I'm between this and burnout paradise to scratch my arcade racer itch. which do you think is the better value?
You and me both😁 I'm 41 now and my lifestyle has no room for so many games but the gamer in me is so used to them, since I was a teenager, that I still continue buying games after games that I haven't even touched yet on ps4, XBOX1 and switch smh I don't even play on hard the way I used to because they take too long to restart as much.😄 and I don't play online since that sucks you in too much... definitely don't have time for that.

I preordered, store displays "Planned Release Date: 10/09/2020". It's the 10th but i still can't play it, says "You cannot play this software or download content yet. Please try again later" Does anyone know if the game has been delayed on the Switch ?
Update regarding - Less then an hour ago i was able to download it, just became available. I guess the game was delayed by a day ? Became available for me from 10pm Friday night, 11/09/20. Been playing it, very cool game.

I don't think we've ever argued about who would review a game funnily enough. There's no real process behind it, we basically just share the codes out when agreeing on the schedule for the week and if there is a particular game that one of us really wants to do, the other is more than happy for them to have it. I've been waiting for this game for literally years, and is already downloaded, but I feel really disappointed about the rubber-banding... it's the reason I never play Mario Kart. Is it really that bad??
Rubber banding is some lazy design decision to make the game artificially fun. Tells me the game is either too easy or too difficult and the devs chose not to address it otherwise.
Was hoping that the 'cops+robbers' would be more akin to the arcade classic 'Chase HQ' or that mode in 'Burnout 2' - but, hey I can live with what they've gone for- absolutely! My copy is already downloaded, tyres smoking and ready for the off - Thursday? Matching the score of 'Horizon Chase Turbo' bodes well, cos that is an absolute belter !
This game being so fun... my only complaint is that they released it early because they didn’t have time to implement wheel support.... Still waiting for a patch !

I have the ps4 version, as i dont have a switch, but awsome game either way. Reminds me of outrun, and virtua racing, a very good thing. Me and my girlfriend are getting switches soon, def going worth a re-buy in my opinion

Yes I agree, it's a brilliant game and great value. But the rubber banding is terrible, a lot of races come down to the last corner no matter how good you've driven.
Yea I think its more of the drafting mechanic thats making it seem like its rubberbanding either way annoying mechanic imo. Shouldn't be able to draft so far away from car. And the game itself gets pretty old after a few hours facing ai and not many people were online atleast from my xbox version via gamepass which is a bummer because online would be the reason to play it as offline really has no progression outside of unlocks for car cosmetics. No spec upgrades or the like.
Switch definitely suffers when it comes to frame rate unfortunately. Even sometimes with Pixel games. Though, nintendo is nintendo, and ill always be a fan.

I picked this up and it's fantastic but why does it need 3GB of storage? That's bigger than Asphalt 9 which has far more complex visuals. I was hoping this would be on the "too small to think about" side of things but nonetheless, great game.
Hmmm...did Mr. Mark even play a 90's arcade game? They are notorious for at least one or two drivers being behind you the entire race...unless you pretty much completely wipe them out just before the finish line. Either way, I'll either pick this up or Horizon Chase Turbo. I should of picked Horizon up when it was $4.

Unless its in a separate 'assistance mode' I find rubber banding kind of pointless in a racer and defeats the purpose of a race in the first place. Yeah, it's an annoyance being thrashed, but when you're doing the overlapping it's a great feeling.
I guess to some extent I can forgive the rubberbanding AI. Haven't you ever felt like 1st place gets kinda lonely in Mario Kart? From what you said, I take it it's way too obvious and OP with this title. Hopefully they'll tweak it soon and strike a better balance

I love the nods to ridge racer, the drifting, slipstreaming and boost mechanics feel like they were taken directly from ridge racer

For those who like gyro controls for racing games, please know that the gyro controls in this game are completely broken even to this day.

I like rubber banding, hate beating the AI so bad it turns into a time trials race.
I hope the developers take your feedback in consideration and make some tweaks. Seems like a fun game though.

To clarify I cannot local wireless between 8 Nintendo Switches but instead can only play 8 player with split screen on 4 systems?
8 player is online only I believe. Having said that, I see no reason local lan wouldn't allow that

Hmmm this is made by sumo digital I'm seeing some similarities in physics to sonic team racing also made by sumo
Unlike those games though, no way to get a little airborne which added another dimension to the gameplay.
