I fell in love with Tracyanne's songwritting when I first bought their first album, and with the light and honey and sadness in her voice. Wonderful band. I hope they will record together again.
I’ve loved this band since I was a teenager here in Tempe AZ; I’m 40 now. I still can’t believe she died. I’ve lost my folks & my entire family, but her voice will always carry me…coincidence that her name is Carey?! Love from Aidan in AZ TO ALL who appreciate this lovely Scottish ensemble! Rip Carey.
I'm 59. When this music came out, I was going through a divorce, very much preoccupied, and not really listening to music much. So I never got to experience it. Flash forward to this month, and my 30 year old daughter is listening to it. She says, "Dad, have heard of this group? I bet you would like them." She was correct. I'm very happy to learn of them. For me, It's a new band, that my first born discovered. I'm very much hooked.
Well there is a reason.... Carrey died in 2015 of cancer... Her and Tracey always saw themselves as Simon and Garfunkel. And if you know Tracey you could imagine how much she must miss her partner in crime...
2010 unforgetable moment. This music video was played at the big screen of Sabuga, Bandung, Indonesia. Then one by one the member of CO came into the stage and the rest was a great history. I could watched one of my fave Glaswegian band in my hometown with only paid Rp 50.000 something that are very hard to happen again at today situation.
im not going to write how im the biggest fan of the band when im not. but i can truly say that THE SWEETEST THING is one of my favorite songs of all time. Carey Lander R.I.P
came back here to reminisce. i think it was 6 years ago when a person i met on an app introduced me to this song and mv when i was talking abt an ideal kitschy costume party that i always fantasize going to. we'd go to music gigs and even went on a trip for several days lol those were the times, i'm grateful i've met them at some point in my life and would wonder where they are now... but yeah i'll always think fondly of this song and band because of them. 💌
Wow after hearing just three songs, this band has really grabbed me! Overall the sound strikes me as being similar to the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound". Musically it makes me think of The Association and other groups with soft sounds from around 1966 and 67. Keep up gang!
The Nordstrom Rack store I work at in Utah has the audio version of this song as part of the stores overhead sound track that plays each day. I assume it's on Rack stores nationwide. It's a tune that makes me smile every time it plays.
This song reminds me of a very intense, fun and sad year of my life. Recalls a whole spectrum of feelings. I haven't been listening to them for years but it's still a fantastic song and album. I just learned that Carey Lander died in 2015. So sad! :(
Lyrics I'm going on a date tonight To try to fall out of love with you I know, I know this is a crime But I don't know what else to do My love, you're in a magazine My love, you're doing fine, you're on TV You pull my heart out and then you run away From Chicago to Cleveland you leave me pain You leave me pain When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother to hear you sing When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother On the bus radio, "Fifty ways to leave your lover alone" I laughed at the irony But life is stupid, the irony all lost on me It got lost on me When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother to hear you sing When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother You challenged me to write a love song Here it is, I think I got it wrong I focused on the negative The pain was too much to write and sing Oh, it was not a nice incentive When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my other to hear you sing When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my other to hear you sing When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother to hear you sing When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing I would trade my mother But she don't know just how far I'd go Would I walk for a hundred miles for a glimpse of your northern smile?
Okay, having checked out "Lloyd" because I hear it at work occasionally, I'm now on my third song by this band I've never heard of and they have scored every time. Very cool.
I love them! Especially her. She reminds me of my sister and her friends, they all wear mustaches to school lol. It takes balls to do that sort of silly but wonderful thing, I think lol.
Not quite sure how I surfed my way to this vid cause I am mostly an 80's hair and hard rock fan. That being said, I will check out some more music by this band...Have a good day peeps !
Well, just so you know, I love the video, and the French Navy video too. I think they work really well with the songs and Camera's Style. The montage of tiny clips creating a large overwhelming piece is brilliant. I find they have little gems of clips hidden that can grab you and tell the story of the song so well. Love them.
It's bands like these that make me want to be in love.

R.I.P. Carey Lander (1982-2015)
+MrBfg586 Does she appear in this incredible video?
+Mitch Doran Yes, as Grafunkel with the afro wig.
Mitch Doran yeah I think that she is playing Art G.
we still missing her
😭😭😓
Can't stop crying/smiling. RIP Carey. You made a brilliant Garfunkel.
I fell in love with Tracyanne's songwritting when I first bought their first album, and with the light and honey and sadness in her voice. Wonderful band. I hope they will record together again.
I love her writing. It's so incredible and captures so much.
They have a new band. Tracyanne & Danny. Great album!
new record in May!
@@owenpattaylor Seeing in a few days!!! A month after finally seeing ALVVAYS, an awesome band they had a big influence on.
Discovering this band has been the sweetest thing...
Don't understand why this band don't get more air-time.All their songs and videos are brilliant
I would agree with you. They probably weren't ass kissers, which would explain why.
you said "air time" lol. I wish!
They were played all the time at a local radio station to Seattle WA called KEXP. It's how I found them.
I agree it's the under-rated songs that are the best. Society doesn't like them because they go against the trend. Shameful if you ask me.

This song is so bittersweet to me and can sometimes make me incredibly sad, for no particular reason. I love it for that.
Feel exactly the same my friend
But theres always a reason..
Well there is a reason.... Carrey died in 2015 of cancer... Her and Tracey always saw themselves as Simon and Garfunkel. And if you know Tracey you could imagine how much she must miss her partner in crime...
This group helped us hang on to the groovy feelings of the 90s for just a little bit longer...
Beautifully stated and, oh, so true! Peace, Sandy.
You can only imagine my sheerest delight in discovering this floating, surreal aural gem in a Target Store in Boston more than a year ago...
I found this song by accident. I was looking for U2 sweetest thing.
BEST ACCIDENT EVER.
+No Name No Face Sweetest thing by U2 is probably their only decent song. This is far better though.
No Name No Face All a matter of taste I suppose.
Fuckk your. Monitering systems me too, after that song, it played this on Spotify and I was definitely not disappointed.
Fuckk your. Monitering systems no it wasn't an accident😀
Fuckk your. Monitering systems same
camera obscura will always remind me of freshman year of college. bike rides and picnics with my first love.
The Fleetwood Mac reference was good to see! There's this 70's kind of vibe to their music and video, I love it.

I've never been so confused, dazed, made to smile, or charmed by a folksy music video.

back again after six days. this is why music was invented, to let us live through such melodies
the great season 2 soundtrack brought me here again 💛
I can listen to this over and over and never get sick of it. I am sad about carey Lander she was so young 😢
R.I.P. Carey, we will always love you

It's amazing how her pain and heartbreak lead to such beautiful songs that always make me smile...thanks Tracyanne :)
What a beautiful song. Now I am going to look up the lyrics.
I am thrilled that one of my favorite songs was on The Great soundtrack (season 2, ep 4)
우연히 만난 이노래를 어렵게 찾아 하루종일 듣고 있네요 늠나 좋아요

Heard this for the first time on radio 2 one eve about 5yrs ago and thought wow, haven’t stopped playing it since 🙂
sweetest thing is definitely one of the best songs
Watched this video for years. Still enjoy the music and appreciate the references to musicians & characters. ☕️☕️🎶🎵🎶
Esto me recuerda a unos 9 años atras cuando todo iba bien
Just now discovering them and I love her voice 😊
I love optical device that projects an image of its surroundings on a screen.
First song I listened to from Camera Obscura. Great band, great music and Tracyanne's voice is so beautiful.
Love this song, just discovered it by accident. Simply love it,
Today makes it a year since she passed. Still can't believe she's gone. :(
Lyrics
I'm going on a date tonight
To try to fall out of love with you
I know, I know this is a crime
But I don't know what else to do
My love, you're in a magazine
My love, you're doing fine, you're on TV
You pull my heart out and then you run away
From Chicago to Cleveland you leave me pain
You leave me pain
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother to hear you sing
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother
On the bus radio, "Fifty ways to leave your lover alone"
I laughed at the irony
But life is stupid, the irony all lost on me
It got lost on me
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother to hear you sing
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother
You challenged me to write a love song
Here it is, I think I got it wrong
I focused on the negative
The pain was too much to write and sing
Oh, it was not a nice incentive
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my other to hear you sing
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my other to hear you sing
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother to hear you sing
When you're lucid you're the sweetest thing
I would trade my mother
But she don't know just how far I'd go
Would I walk for a hundred miles for a glimpse of your northern smile?

They're fantastic.
I absolutely love her! her voice puts me in a dream state!
I like the band and their music very good and her voice is beautiful
I always heard this song playing at the store I worked at inside Cesar’s Palace Forum Shops
Fantastically beautiful to listen to.
This amazing act are beyond underrated. So refreshing to look back at this gem as the world is drowned in horrible bland mainstream pop nowadays.
Her eyes are so soulful 💕💔💕💕
