  • I demonstrate IAI Kata with a real Japanese sword
I want to introduce what i have studied of some of IAI.
The five KATA in this video are from three schools of IAIDO.
I chose them to show a variety of moves.
The name of each school IAIDO and the KATA is below:
    - Tosa Eishinryu Oota ha: Yokogumo, Tora Issoku, Inazuma
    - Mugairyu: Zengo giri
    - Houkiryu: Kissakigaeshi
I hope you enjoyed this demonstration. If you did please hit the thumbs up!
Please leave a comment letting me know what you thought about it and what else you would like to see!
    And don't forget to subscribe!
On this channel I teach my samurai sword method that anyone can learn to achieve mind body harmony. I post tutorials, demonstrations and short films.
Thanks for watching and see you in the next video!

I love your videos. I started switching my gym routine into Kenjutsu, and Battoujutsu using a wooden Katana (Normal Katana and Reversed-edge sword). At first, it felt weird bringing it to my gym, but the people there are quite accomodating. 3 days of sword practice, and I already lost 3 pounds. Finally, a workout that I really wanted to do. Arigato-gosaimasu! 😊😊

I have a question. I have seen lots of videos on cleaning a katana. My question is the total maintenance routine and frequency of the procedures. Do you wipe your blade dry between each tatami mat or water bottle? How about after kata, iaido, battoudo and such? How do you avoid rust and how do you remove rust. I understand some swords are stainless steel, but I'm referring to the non stainless like 1060, 1095, T10, etc... Could be a good video idea. Love the videos btw.

im trying to look for things to do in lockdown. Laido looks very interesting, but you're a level of perfection that probably takes years of dedication? Without that stirdy base (leg work) I can't even control my propaline sword. :(
I assume its best to learn the leg work first. What drill steps would you recommend? I'm assuming forgeting the about the sword parts first. just all the leg and body movements at the route.
    Thank you.

    • @kalash_nikov
      @kalash_nikov 3 года назад

Do both. Legwork exercises at the beginning of the training to warm up and practice the form, then practice with the sword (1 step + 1 swing, etc) then start with small parts of first 4 kata.
If you are training by yourself, without sensei, you will most likely be far from perfect form anyway and once things open up and you got to the proper training you will find out how many things you are doing wrong. It doesn't matter, don't let it discourage you. Given two options - to train in dojo with sensei or train by yourself, dojo is an obvious choice. Given two options in the current situation - to train by yourself or not to train at all, the choice is obvious again.
Don't let imperfection stop you from action. Do it badly, but do it.

@@kalash_nikov Can't do any training in the UK, plus ive lost my income with lockdown thanks to PM Doris. So I'm on my own with YT looking for isnpiration.
I started going back to judo and got into Goshinkiawa Jujustu Just before the world inverted. the coaches are a little older than me and are very covid paranoid. I can't see the club restarting when most of the students are in their 50s and 60s. the Younger clubs will be vaccine passes and all that shite. I won't be putting any poisens into my body, so access to a tutor will be limited.
Thats my negativity out of the way. thank you for your responce.

@@stuartpaul9211 I live in UK, I know the situation.
You are correct, a lot of negativity, victim mentality and excuses. Get rid off that shit.
Not even sure how your response relates to my comment. I said exact opposite - I know no dojos are open atm and won't be for quite some time. So don't let that discourage you - just train by yourself.

Would you make a video on selection of both a IAIDO GI OBI & HAKAMA. Focusing on points of measurement. Shoulders to Wrist ect?
also Where You recommend to order from please!
I have Found it impossible to locate anything Japanese in my country let alone city.
Also Thank you once again for another amazing video.. I have came across a few basic technique and a blocking videos of yours that have given me my most enjoyment while practicing. This one included
but its come obvious to me my level of Enjoyment would be even higher elevated with a more conferrable attire. Something as simple But Not So Simple it appears as a Kimono and Obi and Where to purchase Proper ones!
