    This took me five tries to do and this paid off big time. I don’t care if I didn’t get Star Rank. A is good for me.
    Welcome to Expert in Star Fox 2. In this mode, Andross doesn’t play around. He will send EVERYTHING at you. This is where you need to buckle down and be at your best if you want to triumph.
    Expert starts off with three planets occupied, two cruisers, two attack forces and a planetary missile. He’ll also send like a virus to occupy the satellite so take that down fast. If you succeed in freeing the three planets and taking down the cruisers, he’ll occupy three more. That’s when they’ll all launch missiles at Corneria. You also have to deal with Star Wolf and like in Hard you will take on all the members. They are also tougher and your skills will NEED to be at your best.
    Andross will even summon two bosses to make the whole thing an annoyance. At least once they are all dealt with, focus on reclaiming the rest of the planets. You’ll then take on Wolf and after that Andross. Andross in Expert is harder. You need to destroy the mask then you take on a version of him that is similar to what he was in Star Fox 64. Take out his hands then focus on the head. Let him have it and that’ll be it.
    You will be graded depending on how skillful you are. If you are lucky, you’ll end up with the majestic Star Rank. Getting a Star Rank (by scoring 250,000 points or higher) will unlock permanent twin lasers for the pilots you played with. Do it with all pilots and you’ll get the original Corneria theme from Star Fox 1 in the Select Pilots screen.
    That’s all there is. I’m done with this game for now and I’m simply beat. I’m thankful the game didn’t drive me mad. IGN couldn’t beat this in Expert but I did. Thank god for that.

    This took me five tries to beat it. Five tries! What ruined it? Star Wolf! That’s why! So yeah, this is over an hour long but worth it since with this, I can finally put the game to rest… unless you guys want to torture me with doing more Expert Runs. I got REALLY LUCKY due to the laser upgrade. They helped me fly through the game and made Faye nigh unstoppable. I’m thankful I beat it and I’m more thankful that the game is that fun. I love but if you wish to play it, good luck trying to get an SNES Classic. So yeah I hope you enjoy this Expert Run of #StarFox2 and if you did, please be sure to #LIKE, #COMMENT, #SHARE & #SUBSCRIBE. Sure would be nice to have the homing version of the charge shot... If only there was a secret base with an item for that, along with one of each item in the game including a blaster upgrade... Too bad the medals scattered about do nothing. They certainly won't unlock the secret base if you get all 19 on expert mode. Definitely won't do it with the 15 in hard. And they 100%, for sure, won't do it in normal with their 13... Nope, no siree. And they won't change the title screen. And don't bother with getting a star rank in Expert Mode. That won't give the characters you do it with twin blasters by default across all modes. And nothing will happen if you do it three times with a different pairing each time so that all characters have twin blasters. No change to the music in pilot select will happen if you do this. Nope, that ain't going to change to SFSNES' Corneria theme. Much too bad none of this totally happens. Nope, not at all.
      I'm a terrible, terrible liar. Everything I said wouldn't happen, does indeed happen.

    31:34 - It's dynamic moments like this that make me love this game. One minute, you're dealing with a robot bomb heading towards Corneria, then Pigma shows up and makes life so much harder. Even better, *_none_* of this is scripted, so Pigma - or any Star Wolf pilot - could show up at any time in any context.

    You know what’s awesome about this game, the fact that only *two pilots* are dealing with everything Andross is throwing their way
    That’s pretty badass

    The Space Blade fight is the perfect example of how an Expert mode run can go from fine to a potential full failure because it's very difficult do deal with, at 29:48 you did the right thing of going back with the pause menu to save Fay (you also got lucky that the last hit you took didn't kill you when normaly it SHOULD had because the damage was higher than your remaining health), honestly, if you don't have the Shield item, you better fight it with Fox, Falco, Peppy or Slippy because they can take more punishment than Miyu and Fay. Even the speedruners hate this boss because is too easy to waste time or even have a premature end in their runs.

  • @Eric4bz

    Honestly the strategy involved with this game of deciding which enemy to tackle first made this a much more difficult experience. Starfox was HARD, but add this on top of it and you have an external factor you have to control.

      Underrated game for this reason. It's a *real* game to me, in that it requires you to make decisions on the fly.
      Some adult nerds out for a shallow nostalgia hit dislike it because it's not a repeat of Star Fox 1. They're dumb.
      Smooth out the framerate a bit, tweak the soundtrack transitions / audio mix, and this would be a perfect retro package, albeit released after its day.

    Ah cool, I've never seen the Satelite platform scenario before. All the speedrunners seem to always be able to catch the Brain Spoilers before they reach the SDS.

    • @PikangsFutaba
      @PikangsFutaba 6 лет назад +1

      If you're hunting the Expert mode medals, you have to enter the scenario at least once, because ONE medal is around the Satelite, however, if you're not aiming for a speed run, heck even for tactical reasons, you can let the viruses reach it and cheese them at that moment, of course, if the Satelite has it's cannon ready, do it before the cannon faces Corneria, or else say hello to 20% damage increase to the planet.

    Is there another game on the snes that pushes the hardware with polygons and 3d spaces more than this? Is this the most technically impressive snes title?

    Voice acting?

    I just beat expert with star rank and I am extremely happy. The reason I was able to get star rank is because not only did I get the guaranteed twin blasters on Meteor and not only while i was doing the base of Meteor one of the enemies dropped twin blaster instantly making fox OP but it was at the very beginning of the run. I came close to dying at Macbeth but was able to barely escape. after that Fortuna wasted a lot of my time with the base boss continuously hopping in and out of the water and me no being able to hit him. but aside form those moments I crushed everything else with ease and do it fast enough to get star rank.

      They didn’t deserve to go unused they were very interesting characters and they definitely need to be in the official cannon. They are powerful but very fragile, handle them with care.

    • @TomboyGamerGal
      @TomboyGamerGal 6 лет назад +5

      Nintendo should add them *if* they make another StarFox game. (Just hope that it won't be bad as SFZ cause that game was fucking horrible!!) I mentioned that to LuisParson (he's a die-hard SF fan) and he replied to me saying that Miyu and Fay are forgettable to him and thinks Nintendo thought the same thing when he did his SF2 gameplay.

    • @brandonwilliams6119

      Miyu and Fay aren’t forgettable to me, I love how they can charge their Blasters very fast and have great speed. Why not have more diverse characters in Starfox? Some people don’t like Krystal so maybe Miyu and Fay won’t be that bad of additions.

    Is there a difference between Fox/Falco, Peppy/Slippy, Miyu/Fay? I just aesthetically like Miyu and Fox better, but I wanna try what you're doing to get a feel for the game. (The space dogfights sorta disorient me, so I wanted to see how you should go about handling them.) Anyways, I enjoyed the play through.

      At first the pilot doesn't matter, only the ship type. However if you finish the game with a Star rank, the pilots you used to achieve it will be permanently upgraded with twin blasters.

    • @PScoopYT

      As you saw on the character select screen. There are different stats for each set of characters tied to the ship model they piloted.
      Fox/Falco are the balanced type, having decent health points, average speed and charging time for charged shots, and equipped with Nova Bomb for easy enemies clearing.
      Peppy/Slippy are the stamina type, having the biggest health points and equipped with a health regenerator, but the downsides are the longest charge time for charged shot and slowest speed.
      Miyu/Fay are the speed type. Fastest speed and charging shot time, but has the smallest health points. They are equipped with an invisible shield to make up for it, however.
      Generally, Miyu and Fay are the best characters to play. Since the main point of the game is to do things as fast as possible, but the small health points meant they are more for advanced players who's really good at the game. Fox/Falco are still good for all-around uses, while Peppy/Slippy are more for first-timer and casual players.
