yellow brow was rescued from the sea by fishermen, who did not harm him. He did not think this was kindness. The fishermen benefited from yellow brow's flesh and blood, so they provided him with food, worshipped him as a god, and built a temple for him. He did not think this was kindness. The government did not embezzle wealth, but distributed jewelry fairly to the poor. He did not think this was kindness. When a person blinded by greed appeared in the crowd, yellow brow took the initiative to guide him to commit a crime (the collar of the man with a knife was pulled by yellow brow), and like an avalanche, he detonated the evil in the hearts of others. In the end, yellow brow proved his original theory: human nature is evil. Jinchanzi said that he was obsessed with winning and losing, and he was a pathetic guy. Because yellow brow first had a theory, and then got the result he wanted by guiding reality. Instead of practicing in reality and finally summarizing the theory through the results. Even if there are 100 parts of kindness, as long as there is one evil, yellow brow will make the result lead to evil.
The ugly creature is actually Yellow-brow in the game. Yellow-brow and JinChanzi (the master of Wukong) had an argument on whether human is inherently good or evil. Yellow-brow believes the latter, so he transformed into that creature to prove it to JinChanzi. If you look closely, in the animation, the person who stab the creature first is controlled by the creature to provoke others. All Yellow-brow cares about is winning the argument, so he orchestrated the whole thing just to prove a point. On the other hand, JinChanzi focuses on saving people from the pain of reincarnation, which is more important to him. That's why he said "You sow the chaos in hearts just for the sake of winning. How absurd and pathetic." Edit: Thanks for all the likes. For English is not my first language, remember to check out more comments below which explain the story much better than mine. One thing I want to add here. Even though I’m from Taiwan, seeing everyone talking about their take on the story in the comment section, I am proud that China made such a great game. Setting aside politics and conflict of ideology, this game allows people from different parts of the world to experience a classic Chinese literature and to be curious about the story and meaning behind it. Most importantly, the greatest achievement of all is that this story is told by the Chinese, not by some big game company from other country. I guess this is why Concord failed, but this exotic game is successful. We need more games like this!!
This is the first time for me thinking about what “humanity” and “kindness” is, and I’m so glad that the Chinese culture based game could be linked and touched by so many people with different cultural background. I believe this is the meaning of the game.
Yellowbrow makes me think of a youtuber driving a luxury car full of PS5s into a poor neighborhood and leaving it overnight with a camera pointed at it from the bushes for a rage-bait video. But the people of the neighborhood are actually good and nothing happens to the car. So Yellowbrow has to hire a crackhead to go and break the car's window and steal one of the PS5s, and due to the "broken window effect", other people slowly start stealing too and by the next morning all PS5s are gone and the car is completely vandalized with the wheels stolen and the leather interior stripped. Then Yellowbrow who has been watching from the bushes just jumps out with glee going "SEE?! I TOLD YOU CRIME IS OUT OF CONTROL!"
Says the one with extreme bias towards humans. It doesn't matter how prejudiced he is, this wouldn't happen if they were actually good, he didn't force them to do it, they simply did it.
@@wiswc when we were doing our research paper, a bias would affect the researchers -- they would skew the result to their bias, either unconsciously or consciously. That's why it goes through a review with your research advisor then it goes through a panel. So whatever premise Yellowbrow tried to prove here is... he was unable to prove it. plus someone made a good point: 1. He may or may not have been rescued instead of left alone to die. 2. He was allowed to live instead of killed and fed to the starving village 3. He was worshipped instead of being imprisoned. 4. It looked like he was allowed agency when to give his blood away instead of being bled by the villagers. 5. It looked like the villagers spread the wealth instead of being hoarded by the few. 6. not all of the villagers bled and gutted him, some tried to stop it. Anyway, even if you ignore the above, Yellowbrow still invalidatd whatever he wanted to prove. He messed with the numbers --- he was the one who prompted that one person to stab him.
@@wiswc you trying to explain this to them will not work, easy to understand why so many people would try their hardest to justify having a weak mind😂😂 they all want to believe that being given the simple option to act evil was pushing them over the edge. As a species that lives in groups, humans have always benefited more from kindness, for some reason the fact that just to exist in a type of society you allready have more to gain from being kind is not seen as manipulating the result, but the moment people are given a single option to gain more from acting evil they are manipulated and the datta provided is inconclusive😂😂 this is how sheep live their meaningless lives perpetuating evil and justifying It by saying It simply didn't originate with them😢😢
the story telling in BM:W is unmatched. all the cutscenes have meaning, and done beautifully. for me, the cutscenes in this game was the real reward everytime i killed a boss.
Once upon a time a rich man put a piece of bread in front of a poor man who was about to starve to death, and told the poor man, "This is mine, you can't eat it", and then he intentionally turned away, and the poor man, who was starving, took the opportunity to eat the bread. The rich man laughed and pointed at the poor man and shouted, "Look! These poor people are so shameless! They only steal from others!" It was never humanity that Yellow brow tested, he was playing with it. It was the arrogant superior bullying and humiliating the inferior.
It's always someone's fault isn't it? Even in your horrible example, it doesn't change anything, theft and greed aren't justified by hardship, you're responsible for your own actions regardless, and so yes the they are horrible and if most humans are like them then they are horrible too.
@@aroonsubway2079it literally doesn't work on any level, he gave them things for rescuing him and feeding him, it was a give and take relationship, not "a rich man taunting a poor man and giving them nothing" Stop with your victim bs.
@@wiswc A crime is a crime you are right, but punishing only the appearance of evil will never stop evil. The root of the problem has never been human nature, but class ,impoverished and unfairness. When the rich man takes off the trappings of wealth, you will realize that he's no different than the poor man and he couldn't control his greed either
for those who are wondering Yellow Brow, a creature rescued from the sea, believed that humans are inherently evil. Even when fishermen fed him, worshipped him, and built a temple for him, he saw it as a means to exploit his flesh and blood. He also didn't consider the government's fair distribution of jewelry to the poor as an act of kindness. To prove his point, Yellow Brow manipulated a greedy man into committing a crime, triggering a wave of evil behavior in others. This confirmed his belief that human nature is fundamentally evil. However, Jinchanzi criticized Yellow Brow for being obsessed with proving his theory, rather than learning from real-world experiences. Jinchanzi argued that even one evil act could overshadow countless acts of kindness.
A lot of people are missing the last sentence spoken by Yellow Brow: "if not for winning, why debate over means and ends"? The fact that Jinchanzi is criticizing his methods show there's an implicit bias for his own belief coming out on top. Jinchanzi argues as if constructing a scenario to show the nature of humans is wrong, when really not having any intentionality is a construction of a scenario itself (as Jinchanzi seems to have the undertone that the results would fall in his favor instead).
Someone wants to prove causality by complaining about human greed. In the animation, the setting is that Yellowbrow can generate jewels by eating seafood, and the small village is a poor fishing village. Yellowbrow can use magic to bring down fish, but at the same time, a tornado also destroys the fishing boats. In other words, Yellowbrow destroyed the village's original economic foundation, making the villagers dependent on him. As a result, with development, around Yellowbrow , monks, officers, and bureaucrats appeared, but most people remained poor and lost their original means of production (fishing boats and tools). All they could do was pray for a portion of the jewels from the accountant. Yellowbrow could have taught the fishermen to adapt to nature, make tools, grow herbs, and other means of livelihood. But he didn't do that. Instead, he made the villagers become foolish, lazy, greedy, and vicious rather than wise, hardworking, generous, and calm. As you sow, so shall you reap. Good begets good, evil begets evil, black and white are reversed, and one gets what one deserves.
Not fake data. He is just showing how easily humans are influenced by others like their leaders etc. Essentially many are sheeple who do much critical thinking for themselves. This is true even in our real world today.
@@zixiaozong9789 he isn't making up fake data. He is illustrating to you how easily influenced some humans are by others. Most humans are sheeple and don't exercise critical thinking themselves.
So then it proves that the glass was always fragile. 😮 Just like human nature. Cause most of us act correctly when times are good. But when something happens…and law and order go out the window, damn near everyone goes bad. And the ones that dont? Either get killed or become bad too. The Walking Dead and literally every post apocalyptic movie shows you what happens to people when they need to survive. The worst parts of them come out.
@@MayTheOddsBeInYourFavor during WW2 men did good and evil. men died protecting others. Men ran into the Twin Towers to save as many as they could. We have statues of men who did great good in the face of evil. Even in The Walking Dead, were there no "good" people? was Glenn, not a good guy? Of course, we are not talking black and white here, but more grey areas. If you really believe humans are either good/evil, you are mistaken.
chinese culture is truly fascinating, that's why they made such a game story based on the Journey to the West. the whole game are telling people somthing more than killing and passing bosses characters, epic stories are made of imagination by the people from 5000 years to this decade. this is the power of CULTURE.
well, actually the story was only written in 17th century. but it was truly amazing that China invented Printing Press and demand of good stories boomed at that time. For the first time in human history, everyone has access to books that easily printed rather than manually copied by hand written. Large businesses in entertainment hiring poets, historians, story tellers to compile and create stories based on ancient folklore and historical events. Most great stories were like Journey to the west, Romance of 3 Kingdoms, and many more born from this era. People fell in love so much, they built temples to worship fictional characters as deity.
@@lacdirk yeah I agree, there are many fantastic culture works in the world, but this is the first time Chinese culture can be shown to us in this way, or to me. Some people around me regard Chinese cultural products as Japanese, and this game makes some people, especially young people who are not so interested in the world's traditional culture, truly aware of Chinese cultural works, instead of the first reaction of "oh, this Japanese/Oriental work is not bad". I am just sincerely happy for the success of the developers' vision of promoting Chinese culture.
Yes, what I want to say is that the profound cultural and historical accumulation is a great advantage in creating enduring works. For example, many characters in Journey to the West come from a more ancient time, and some of the ancient Chinese antithetical poems, mythological structures in the book are hard-won.
The final statement has intrigued me since childhood posing a profound existential question rooted in nihilism: "If there's no meaning, why debate means and ends?" Our entire civilization is built on winning or losing like a video game discouraging us to question why to play or introspect about life's true purpose (if it exists)
Humans are Infinite. Infinitely Everything. Infinitely Loving, Hating, Greedy, Generous, Active and Sloth...etc. A river that courses in all directions at once at all times. You need merely to direct that river in the direction that you choose to get an Infinite amount of the direction chosen.
There is nothing infinite about you except arrogance, cruelty and delusion, everything else is limited, love is limited, virtue is limited. The fact that you saw this an opportunity to praise yourself only proves his point further.
2:29 when he stab the Yellowbrow Turtle and we saw his face smilling, the song start with "Three realms, Four lands. Cannot seek nor cant be help" thats hit me like a truck.
It remembers me a popular saying in Brazil: "Little people can't have nothing good." It refers to the incapacity of receiving nature's (or any kind of) goods without taking it for granted, without undervaluating it, without the savage urge to destroy it for greed's sake. It's somewhat similar to "killing the golden goose". What impresses me most in this tale is the fact of people easily and rapidly ignoring how much their life has gotten better after the creature arrival, and how quick the craziness of just one person contaminated almost everyone in the surroundings.
the apple make eve clever and open her eyes here humans are born with greed, the monster just give them a chance to reveal themselves in a way, this is like police using fishing method to draw criminals out.
Simply put, the story is a bet between two billionaires, both are the top 0.1% in any country on earth. Yellowbrow's point: They're pests, lazy, greedy, less than us and there's no cure. Jin Chan Zi's view: You pathetic genius guided them to be like that, they're the same like us in nature, we should help them.
There are two things i got from this story #1 if someone just wants to win an argument or can't stand losing, they will become the cause that proves their own point, even if it's something evil 2# humans are not necessary evil, but easily persuaded into doing evil things, especially if they need the things those evil actions will get them
Jin Chanzi was the second disciple of the Buddha. He reincarnated as the master of Wukong. Edit: "Holy Monk," the Tathagata said, "in an earlier life you were my second disciple, and called Master Golden Cicada... (Chapter 98 of the English translation) or 如来道:“圣僧,汝前世原是我之二徒,名唤金蝉子。..." (the original source) Here Tathagata is a name of THE Buddha, aka Siddhartha Gautama.
This is actually one of the easiest to understand stories in Black Myth Wukong. If you know the lore behind Journey to the West, the game gets 10x deeper. eg why Lingji’s head was actually cut off and how he manipulated the Yellow Wind Sage.
China has a civilization spanning thousands of years, and classics like Journey to the West are just a glimpse of this vast cultural heritage, far from fully capturing its depth. It’s unfortunate that due to China’s setbacks in modern history, the West’s understanding of Chinese culture is often limited to surface impressions or even biased views. Even though we’ve entered the digital age, with translation tools that can achieve near-native fluency, many cultural nuances and deeper spiritual meanings remain difficult to fully convey and grasp. Building that Tower of Babel may still be a distant goal, but there is hope.
@@sanchezeugene9725 your logic lies as follows: greed=sin=evil therefore humans are evil. I can argue on the same logic as follows: Charity=Virtue=Good therefore humans are Good.... Contradiction in this logic of yours. What I implied in that short phrase was that we are not inherently good or evil but have a tendency for both and it is due to our free will that we choose one of those paths. But my understanding is that the tendancy for good is natural and healthy for our own selves so God put that hint for us for the correct option as well. The emotions of charity, helping, empathy, protecting, sacrifice and love will always be above greed, hate, stealing, hurting and selfishness for an individual. No evil person will have internal peace despite having everything and a person with all those good attributes will be content despite having nothing. Budha and every human who tried to acquire those attributes were selfless and content
My interpretation is that this story is a thought-provoking exploration of the fundamental nature of humanity-whether we are inherently good or evil. The monster uses its own life as a lure, tempting human greed, and ultimately being betrayed. This tragic outcome is intended to provoke the destructive side of humanity. However, Jin Chanzi argues that such a result does not definitively prove humanity's inherent evil. It is a simplistic conclusion that fails to consider the underlying reasons for people's actions.
He was controlling that first person to do that to him. Cos the village wasn't reacting the way he wanted them to. He dismissed all the good they did before that. When he finally got tired of waiting, he provoked to do what he believed they would always do.

In the novel,Yellowbrow debates with Jinchanzi: Yellowbrow believes that human nature is evil, and it is Buddha who helps people to shed evil and become kind, so people should worship Buddha; Jinchanzi believes that human nature is kind, and Buddha is also kind, therefore people and Buddha are equal. This is one of the most famous debates in ancient China, whether human nature is intrinsically evil or intrinsically good. The conclusion concerns what policies should be adopted to rule the people. One school that supports the fundamental goodness of human nature is the Confucians, whose leader is Confucius, one of the three sculpted figures on the Supreme Court of the United States. The other group, which supported the evil of human nature, was the Legalists, who finally unified China and founded the dynasty Qin
In fact, it was Xunzi who suggested that human nature was inherently evil, and he was also one of the important figures of Confucianism, which had evolved over time and even split along different lines, in the Han dynasty, for example, the Confucian school emphasized the role of morality in the governance of the country, guiding people through moral education, while the legalists did not care about the good or evil of human nature, they tend to think that morality is unreliable, because a person can change from a good person to a bad person at any time, and only by using the law, interests, and honor to guide and restrain people can we govern the country well, because my english is not very good, so the English part of the use of translation software, I do not know if you can understand

To simplify the context: Jin Chanzi (the monk) and Huang Mei (the ugly soft-shell turtle spirit) were both disciples of Buddha but were cast out due to their misbehavior. Jin Chanzi was reincarnated as Tang Sanzang, Wukong's master in "Journey to the West," a powerless monk in the mortal world. Huang Mei, the soft-shell turtle spirit, reincarnated as the Yellow Brow Monk (Yaoguai). Jin Chanzi believed that humans are not born evil and are worth saving; they only need guidance. This belief set the stage for the journey in "Journey to the West." On the other hand, Huang Mei believed that humans are inherently evil and should follow their nature. To win the argument with Jin Chanzi, Yellow Brow spent many lifetimes trying to prove his point, which might explain why they were both outcast by Buddha.
@@discerningcucumber7559 In a sense Yellow Brow did not conduct a clean experiment, he "sowed chaos in the hearts of men" by deliberately luring the entire society down the path of greed and materialism, instead of letting humans choose free of his own prejudices. As Yellow Cicada (aka Tang Sanzang) said, Yellow Brow had an end (that humanity is consumed by greed) in mind from the beginning, to which he practiced a means (giving humanity unimaginable wealth and blinding them with the idea that worship is a path to riches).
@@discerningcucumber7559It's because Yellowbrow believed that humans were born evil so he wanted to prove this and say he won the debate with Jin Chanzi. To do this, he tempted and enticed them gold. He used evil to prove his point of humans being born evil but by doing this, he also unknowingly disproved his point because these humans wouldn't have done that if he never tempted their hearts with greed to begin with. If anything, yellowbrow PROVED Jin Chanzi's point because if you can tempt someone with evil and they commit evil acts then by that logic, you can do the same goodness and convince people to be kind, showing that humans are not born evil. We can be shaped that way though!

@@discerningcucumber7559 It means that Huang Mei was acting in a way to make his assumption seem like a correct one thus ending their argument instead of acting in a way that would reveal the truth about what they were arguing about.
This is what hooked me, for sure. Many times, this theme just leaves it at the face value that Yellow Brow tries to prove: Human nature is greedy and violent, we will always strive for wealth and power, even if it means forgoing our prosperity. But they take it a step further and give our nature some grace by saying "Well of course our nature is violent and greedy when discourse is sewn into it." We can be equally as prosperous, giving and kind if that is the nature of our surroundings. It is unfair to believe us to be so simply greedy and incapable of salvation, we need only positive direction and grace.
This is deeper than most fable. The reality is people can resist greed. They can share. They can be peaceful. They can be kind to an ugly monster. Until bad things happen. People are not simply good or bad.
couple thoughts : 1. debate to winning or debate to the purpose of winning ? you want to win, you do everything/whatever it costs including (good/bad) in order to win . if you want the purpose/outcome of winning, do you still need to win ? is it worth it to give out whatever it costs in order to win ? like you arguing with your GF, if you guys argue for a better relationship, do you think you need to win the argument ? 2. the mother EARTH gives us human being everything, we human being cannot stop wanting more
I stand with the Monk's point of view that the Monster's behavioural experiment provides no convincible evidence that human is born naturally with evilness. Here is my argument: In every war of human history, the soldiers are not inherently/genetically favor of killing until their idoelogical plasticity has been deformed to match with their military commander's order. This killing action, in the goal of extinction of same/other species, is impratical as it requires exhuastive time and physical effort, and also is against of fundamental biological principle as it leads to population decline. The genetics expressing such evilness should not popularly exist in any species, but can be temporarily triggered to achieve group conformity in some certain extreme cases. That's why modern society continues to set massive schemes of moral/ethical/legal intervention to avoid anything like in this short anime or in the past human history happening again.
This is where Yellow brow is so powerful, you've been brainwashed by his theories. He put the cart before the horseIn Chinese, it means“倒果为因”, but you agree with him. He has so many followers under him because he is good at sophistry and capturing people's hearts.
The human heart is inherently neutral, neither good nor evil; it is the discerning mind that lead to good or evil actions. In Buddhism, there are good thoughts, evil thoughts, greedy thoughts, and deluded thoughts. Your mind is what discerns these thoughts, and it is through your own actions that you plant the seeds of good or bad karma. That is the reason Jin Chanzi strongly disapproves of Huang Mei's manipulation of human hearts through his schemes
"If not for winning, why debate over means and ends"? Because winning is never the proof. Fighting, and in the giving of yourself toward proof. That, itself, is the point. Win or lose. The fight is the point. Evil is always rational. The monk is mistaken in believing his grace is rational, logic has failed us emotional beings, for our passions don't make us lesser but greater, and beyond logic. Evil can win every game, for Evil always chooses the safest bets, and Evil always chooses Nihilism's cowardice over optimism's courage. But man's heart will always yearn for a truer catharsis. The one beyond the sight of ration.
We can see: (1) The collar of the first greedy man was pulled by some unknown power at 2:13 (2) The turtle less creature was actually Yellow brow at the end of the cut scene, who simply designed everything to win a bet with Jinchanzi. So instead of testintg humanity, he was actually PLAYING with it. Another interpretation I heard from somewhere else: Yellow brow (the turtle less creature) first destroyed the business of the village with his immortal magical power, and then he came to the rescure. Maybe it is an over interpretaion. Just to provide a different angle.
I actually think the 2nd and 5th animations were deeper, especially the 5th, it's not about the Bull's own life but he's the perfect example of experiencing "Hell", and that's what's hell feels like
Game’s bosses are about what happens to those who are outside of the celestial court. A useless Bear did all he was told, ended with a reward he cant weld, so he claims a territory as king, showing off a trophy that does nothing for the rest of his life. YellowRat sees the consequences of powerlessness with death of WuKong. Became obsessed over power and did everything he could to gain more, took great actions for power that amount to nothing. YellowBrow lured by his desire to be on top of the system, started to create his own following, but only as much as he was allowed to until it became inconvenient. HundredEyes became a lap dog, thinking with great service he’ll eventually be on top of the clouds, died screaming to be saved by his master and of course ignored. Bull saw the consequences of going against the system, spent all his life making choices to keep everyone safe. Used up by the court, a demon king once went against the gods is now a husk of what he was, became a dog for too long, dont even remember how to speak anymore, but wailing is all that left of him. Those are the consequences you face for simply not being buddha, but yaoguai. The players too, if they’re not diligent, they may face the fate of becoming the court’s dog again, with the head band on his head, unless of course, you could open your eyes before the old monkey put it on you.
The bull's story is tragic in he that failed to stop one tragedy after one. The tragedy in that he was once the head of the "seven sages" (wukong had 6 sworn brothers who also gave themselves sage title) he was full of energy and ambitions, like a young college student full of dreams for the future. Yet, the bull in old age is a husk of his former self
If you carefully read Journey to the West, you’ll realize that Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t necessarily interpret the legendary tale in a darker or more mature tone. Instead, it reveals the essence of the story as it truly is. The game delves into the deeper meanings behind the original plot of Journey to the West. The BGM lyrics are profound, adding layers of depth to the animation’s message. As someone who grew up in mainland China and has been familiar with Wukong’s story-including Journey to the West and its many related dramas, animations, and games-since my teenage year. Let me translate the lyrics and explain their significance: Three Realms, Four Continents (The “Three Realms” represent the heavens, where gods and Buddhas reside; the earth, where humans live; and the realm of demons. The “Four Continents” come from Buddhist scripture, which divides the world into four parts. When people refer to the “Four Continents,” they are usually speaking of the entire world.) With nothing to seek, there’s no salvation (This line means that throughout the entire world, including the heavens, if one seeks salvation, it cannot be found.) Endless night, present moment Right and wrong, black and white, all reversed Sentient beings, all living creatures Love, hate, greed, anger, life and death intertwined Cause and effect, karma, unforgettable (These lines reflect the core events unfolding in the animation.) Human desires are the way of heaven (In Chinese culture, the “way of heaven” often refers to truth, logic, and justice. Heaven is supposed to represent a higher realm than the human world. However, this line reveals that truth, logic, and justice are shaped by human desires. In Chinese thought, many truths and principles are dependent on how you perceive them-your preferences, what you choose to see and think. So, the truth you perceive is often a reflection of your desires.)
The background music has some lyrics that correspond to the events that happen in each paragraph,“The Three Realms and Four Continents have no expectations,Cannot be saved”,“Right and wrong, black and white, reversed”...
Watching this for the first time the human greed shook me. Watch it the second time there's a deep sorrow that I didn't even know how to cry for it. Debating over end and means is the game for those in power/ with resouce. If you have neither, you can only be in the game being labeled as "the greedy crowd". If you are "destined" to be unworthy, is there a way escaping it?....
This one is to show one of the sins defined in Buddhism - obsession. Huangmei to fulfill his obsession of winning the argument with Jinchanzi, provoked greed, another sin, to run wild among people. This all only caused chaos, and is not in line with the true Buddhism ideology of lifting people from the pain of sins. Jingchanzi pointed out his so called "prove" means nothing because his means were not valid. Here the BGM's name is "Fart", also means bullshit/nonsense in Chinese.
For those who are unfamiliar with the background of this animation, if you mistakenly understand the theme of this animation as satirizing human greed, then you are gravely mistaken. The monsters in the animation and the monk at the end are disciples of the Buddha (you can consider them as angels). The monster made a bet with the monk, believing that human nature is inherently evil, so he transformed into a monster. He neglected all the kindness shown to him by the villagers and gradually induced them to fall into greed and evil. On the Day of Judgment, he eagerly controlled a greedy person (you can see that this person's collar is being pulled by something), who killed him and ignited the evil within the villagers, ultimately leading to the villagers killing the monster. At the end, the monster triumphantly told the monk that he had won the bet, that human nature is evil. The monk believed that he had planted evil in people's hearts for the sake of the bet and ultimately caused chaos, harming himself and the villagers for the sake of the bet. This is both ridiculous and tragic.
more back story to Yellow Brow and JinChanzi: Yellow Brow is a disciple of Mi Le Fo(Maitreya), he's the little boy shown in BMW, he's one of the 3 buddas, representing the future; where as JinChanzi is a disciple of Ru lai(Tathāgata), also one of the 3 buddas, representing the present. In Journey to the West, Ru Lai's more respected and supposedly more powerful than Mi Le Fo, which is why Yellow Brow and JinChanzi, supposedly the same level of hierarchy, JinChanzi is much higher regarded compared to Yellow Brow, and this is why Yellow Brow is so set on "winning" over JinChanzi
Just as the earth gives man all the things he needs in this life, but man becomes greedy and does not hesitate to explore the earth madly for the benefit of their own, and does not care that the earth will be destroyed because of it.
People are complicated. They can be good or evil. If you bait them with what they desire, at last you will see the evil side. And that's what Huangmei did.
The Chinese name of the music is "屁", it literarily means fart, but also means nothing/nonsense sometimes. It contains "尸" dead body, and two “匕” daggers, just like what YellowBrow ends.
This magical supernatural being, to me was nature, while people depicted human greed of taking more and more from nature not knowing when to stop themselves. I'm a sociology student, and one of the first things that I learned from my first year as a stident is that when you're doing an experiment, especially field experiment, do know that you shouldn't blatantly manipulate your entire research just so that the results are *_exactly_* what *_you_* want them to be. Yellowbrow was only right because he blatantly make it happen via his magic. In the video, he had pull a Jedi Mind Trick on that greedy guy to cause the entire clusterfuck to unfold. So his entire investigation is flawed. Also, another thing I've learned is that you should never let your value get in a way of your entire investigation too much. Once again, Yellowbrow made another mistake. This time, in a form of this error - not once did he try to open his view a little throughout this journey. Always assuming that everything the people were doing are just hiding their true color as a bunch of greedy hooligans when really, that wasn't always the case. But that's just me voicing my view out. So please leave a constructive criticism in the reply just so that I can continue being wiser.
Also, Yellow Brow contaminated the experiment, for lack of better terms, from the start by leading with his prejudices of greed being a motivator: his primary gifts were material riches, thus all the worship that happens begins and ends with the expectations of being rewarded with more material wealth. Accordingly, it did not take much to lure the sole fisherman, and shortly thereafter the rest of society, into savagery for the sake of material wealth.

yellow brow was rescued from the sea by fishermen, who did not harm him. How absurd and pathetic."

So Yellowbrow has to hire a crackhead to go and break the car's window and steal one of the
PS5s, and due to the "broken window effect", other people slowly start stealing too and by the next morning all PS5s are gone and the car is completely vandalized with the wheels stolen and the leather interior stripped. Then Yellowbrow who has been watching from the bushes just jumps out with glee going "SEE?! I TOLD YOU CRIME IS OUT OF CONTROL!"
Good analogy.

There are a lot of people in real life that can learn from the statement you made.👍
@@wiswc when we were doing our research paper, a bias would affect the researchers -- they would skew the result to their bias, either unconsciously or consciously. That's why it goes through a review with your research advisor then it goes through a panel. So whatever premise Yellowbrow tried to prove here is... he was unable to prove it.
plus someone made a good point:
1. He may or may not have been rescued instead of left alone to die.
2. He was allowed to live instead of killed and fed to the starving village
@@wiswc you trying to explain this to them will not work, easy to understand why so many people would try their hardest to justify having a weak mind😂😂 they all want to believe that being given the simple option to act evil was pushing them over the edge.

the story telling in BM:W is unmatched. all the cutscenes have meaning, and done beautifully. for me, the cutscenes in this game was the real reward everytime i killed a boss.
They only steal from others!"

Yellow Brow, a creature rescued from the sea, believed that humans are inherently evil.
Gracias 👍🏻
Government’s fair distribution to the poor = Communism good,
thank you CCP

Large businesses in entertainment hiring poets, historians, story tellers to compile and create stories based on ancient folklore and historical events.

That's why a phrase said" Learn knowledge till the land of china". Many knowledge of deep attitude's heart come from myth symbolsm. But I know it just phrase, a fabel, a folklore, etc. Best illustration of greedy of animal side of human.
To simplify the context:
Jin Chanzi (the monk) and Huang Mei (the ugly soft-shell turtle spirit) were both disciples of Buddha but were cast out due to their misbehavior.
Could you please explain to me what the sentence "You chose a means to an end, not to a proof." implied, my English is kinda weak!
He made it seem like his amount was endless and he brought something (gold and food) to starving poor people. Of course they would get consumed by greed because he tempted them with greed.
@@discerningcucumber7559To win the debate with Jin Chanzi, Huangmei deliberately seduced people and brought out the greed in them. So the means he used was destined to lead to that result. He can't prove that people are born to be evil by seducing them on purpose.
@@discerningcucumber7559 It means that Huang Mei was acting in a way to make his assumption seem like a correct one thus ending their argument instead of acting in a way that would reveal the truth about what they were arguing about.
This is the greatest game ever to exist.
The whole game is complex and beautiful. A piece of art.
Animation gameplay voice acting, execution everything is peak in this game
We need an anime or anthology at this point. The game pretty much is an anthology
People are not simply good or bad.
exactly. and it's important to see both the bad and good side of people
What I like about this game and the story is the moral lessons....its deep and stunning
very rare these days!
couple thoughts :
1. debate to winning or debate to the purpose of winning ?
you want to win, you do everything/whatever it costs including (good/bad) in order to win .
if you want the purpose/outcome of winning, do you still need to win ? is it worth it to give out whatever it costs in order to win ? like you arguing with your GF, if you guys argue for a better relationship, do you think you need to win the argument ?
2. the mother EARTH gives us human being everything, we human being cannot stop wanting more
everything about this game is fucking awesome
fr. i love this game, the only thing is that i suck at boss fights, so most games like this i just watch from peoppe like radbrad
Humanity explained in 4:43 minutes
Thank you for opening my eyes
No! This is an explanation of human greed , not humanity. Humanity is such a pure lovely and loveable thing . Don't mix things with each other .
This is where Yellow brow is so powerful, you've been brainwashed by his theories. He put the cart before the horseIn Chinese, it means“倒果为因”, but you agree with him. He has so many followers under him because he is good at sophistry and capturing people's hearts.
后来出了个王阳明,无善无恶心之体,有善有恶意之动,知善知恶是良知,为善去恶是格物。这是中国目前最后一个封圣的人

We can see:
(1) The collar of the first greedy man was pulled by some unknown power at 2:13
(2) The turtle less creature was actually Yellow brow at the end of the cut scene, who simply designed everything to win a bet with Jinchanzi.
I actually think the 2nd and 5th animations were deeper, especially the 5th, it's not about the Bull's own life but he's the perfect example of experiencing "Hell", and that's what's hell feels like
In Buddhism, the mortal world is basically hell.
I love chapter2
The story of the bull demon King is about a middle-aged man who is tortured by the predicament of reality and loses his freedom
The root of all evil is trying to win the argument instead of seeking the truth of reality.
2:58 Him smiling.
because he wanted it
I don't know the game but because of this animation i'm might buy it ! That was cool.
the game is an epic. not only about the vision or fighting system, but also the debate of humanity behind the story.
Let me translate the lyrics and explain their significance:
Three Realms, Four Continents
(The “Three Realms” represent the heavens, where gods and Buddhas reside; the earth, where humans live; and the realm of demons. The “Four Continents” come from Buddhist scripture, which divides the world into four parts. When people refer to the “Four Continents,” they are usually speaking of the entire world.)
With nothing to seek, there’s no salvation
(This line means that throughout the entire world, including the heavens, if one seeks salvation, it cannot be found.)
Endless night, present moment
Right and wrong, black and white, all reversed
Sentient beings, all living creatures
Love, hate, greed, anger, life and death intertwined
Cause and effect, karma, unforgettable
(These lines reflect the core events unfolding in the animation.)
Human desires are the way of heaven
(In Chinese culture, the “way of heaven” often refers to truth, logic, and justice.
Damn the music is so good!
Reminds me of the Ghost in the shell movies OST
The background music has some lyrics that correspond to the events that happen in each paragraph,“The Three Realms and Four Continents have no expectations,Cannot be saved”,“Right and wrong, black and white, reversed”...
What is the BGM?
4:18 this scene gives feel of Dune movie. the Spice
只要你远离人群,就能避免这一切

This is both ridiculous and tragic.
more back story to Yellow Brow and JinChanzi:
Yellow Brow is a disciple of Mi Le Fo(Maitreya), he's the little boy shown in BMW, he's one of the 3 buddas, representing the future; where as JinChanzi is a disciple of Ru lai(Tathāgata), also one of the 3 buddas, representing the present.
You are so damn right. The whole game is deep enough for most people spending time on it to figure out what it's about.

Then I watched an American streamer play the game arrive to the same sequence and depict the supernatural being as the millionaire and the humans as the poor people; funny how you can arrive at different meaning based on your life experience through arts.
第二段话你说黄眉是对的,我没有明白什么意思。
Also, Yellow Brow contaminated the experiment, for lack of better terms, from the start by leading with his prejudices of greed being a motivator: his primary gifts were material riches, thus all the worship that happens begins and ends with the expectations of being rewarded with more material wealth. Accordingly, it did not take much to lure the sole fisherman, and shortly thereafter the rest of society, into savagery for the sake of material wealth.
