Hi Brian! I recently "stumbled" into the idea of assembling my own watches with purchased components. After receiving components to assemble two watches, I learned it was going to be important to understand how each of the components come together (not quite as straight forward as I had assumed). I am really appreciating the encounter of your "Making Custom Watches" series of videos. It is exactly what I think I needed 😃. Thank you for all of your effort in putting the videos and series together!
I'm assuming you mean the ones while I am doing my watch work and not my actual glasses? amzn.to/3RGwaSE I discuss them here: ruclips.net/video/TfWDiloD0cU/видео.html
Great Video! Just started in this modding world and trying to see how i'd put my logo on it. How did you make those stickable metal logos? Id be interested in doing mines that way as well!
I have several comments about it in comments across some of the videos, but yeah I had ordered a bunch in bulk a few years ago from a company called egoLogo, which has since gone out of business. They actually laser cut out of metal with an adhesive back and were based in Hong Kong. These days the best option is something like TinyLogo (can find on ebay and FB) and search for other companies that do electroplated nickel stickers.
Love the videos I’ve recently found a love for watches and have decided to custom build my own so far it’s been abit tricky sourcing everything as I would assume most people would like to keep their information a secret but you are very helpful in letting people know the process to get certain parts aswell as applying them thankyou a lot your videos have been awesome to watch
I had them made at a place called egoLogo, which is no longer in business. Glad I bought in bulk. Some other places do similar work, though hard to find.
could make something, but dial sizes change, markers and other elements are different sizes, it typically varies from custom build to build, though I'm getting more into making custom parts than custom watches these days.
Great video. I see a lot of people asking for egologo info but I'm more interested in the dimensions of the logo. Can you share the font size or even better: do you know the LxWxH of the logo?
the preferred size I've settled on for my specific logo is 4.5mm (length, up/down), 4.8mm (width, left/right), and I think the thickness (height) is around 0.15mm. They are thin!
you can pad print on about any surface, durability depends on the ink used and the surface. I like using multipurpose ink, but it's also cased in a watch. As for tools needed, perhaps more of my watch tools vidoes.
I used a company in hong kong called egoLogo, but they are no longer in business (I bulk ordered before they closed). the closest thing to it is electroformed nickel stickers (google it). one company i know of that makes them is called tinyLogo
Yeah, what you want to look into is Electroformed nickel stickers. There are several companies out there that do it, such as Paxya. I have not used them before, but have heard positive experiences. www.paxya.com.tw
Thanks, watched several in your series and find them super helpful and inspiring. Definitely want to create my own dials as there is never a dials that nails exactly what I'm looking for. As for applying the logo, was wondering if you ever have problems with an applied logo fouling the hour hand? Is the logo thin enough, or do you have to be careful that it's above the arc of the hour hand? On a side note, I wonder if the 10/6 logo would look better on the bottom half the subdial instead of the top half? For balance perhaps.
Good question. The logos are very thin, so usually not an issue, but in same situations it can interfere due if the post length on the hand is very small or non-existent and/or if the hand is pressed down too far. So it is something to be cautious about. As for where to put the logo, I’ve played around with a variety of locations. Each seems to have some pros and cons.
Have a invicta grand diver that I removed the invicta logo as well as the diver bell type logo on dail but it left the adhesive residue behind.any chance you can tell me how I can remove that adhesive residue without harming or discoloring the dail in anyway?
Water and a qtip. Maybe a mild detergent, but that depends on the dial surface material. If you use anything beyond that it is likely to mess up the dial in some way...like rubbing alcohol, acetone, etc. Sometimes rodico can help get lingering adhesive off things, though that depends on what sort of adhesive it is. All told, it’s difficult to remove dial elements without mucking up a dial.
Great explanation and well put together video, but finding logo manufacturers is not easy so if there is any advice on where to look that would be appreciated.
Correct, logo manufacturers are hard to find. Search for "electroformed nickel stickers" and similar terms and you'll hopefully be able to find one that fits your needs. That's the closest thing to what mine are. Sadly the company I used is no longer operating and I'm glad I bought in bulk.
