Exploring The Doctrine of The Fall [Foundations #6]

“Fall”
When we make little of sin, we make little of the one who rescues us from our sin & of the forgiveness he offers us.
The story of our beginning, of our existence, of our eternity, of our purpose, begins with the story of who God is; our God, our triune God, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. But this story continues with our Fall. Adam & Eve’s complete rejection of God, which has cursed the spiritual identity of all humanity to be born in sin; into a state of separation from God not just now but eternally. Sin entered & corrupted God’s good creation & God’s good relationship with man, setting into motion the plan for the Son, to likewise enter creation, not to steal kill or destroy like sin but to forgive redeem & restore, like God, to bring life to us in our fallen state.
This Sunday we’re going to focus on unpacking what happened at the time of the Fall. What is sin & what does sin matter? But we’re not here to honour the Fall or to honour sin, but to help magnify Jesus. Because unless we truly grasp what sin is & means, we will struggle to see why Jesus is vital.
