Love Gene Watson - he has never been given the credit he deserves. He deserves more than some to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He deserves a lot of recognition.
He is true country. Thank God radio still plays his music. This is my all time favorite Gene song. I have loved hi. Since 1975. I was 17 when I started listening to country music. I thank Jack Greene and statue of a fool for that. I am 73 and miss hearing all those great classics
If there are any young "vocalists in training in Country Music" - this is an artist to follow, and learn from. Gene's easy approach to so very, very many gently-beautiful songs is unequaled by any other Country singer I've every heard. Play his videos again and again and again - listen to his phrasing, timing, perfect pitch, and all of those other qualities that make an unequaled Country singers....Conne in Wichita...
One of the most unappreciated country artist! Gene Watson Is one of the greatest country artist ever. Farewell Party is one of my favorites, his music never gets old!
I will put Gene Watson’s Country crooning up against anyone who has ever sang country. Gene should be in the country music hall of fame. He has never gotten the credit he deserves.
Yes its sad that they can not or will not recognize him in the hall of fame he's a true singer much better then this new crap that's out today it is not country its garbage
You have that right, MsDerbygirl. None of the current crop of so-call Country singers could hold a candle to this man's talents. And I agree with you--this is one of his best songs. My personal fav is "Love in the Hot Afternoon."
Sure am gonna miss ur singing just loved ur voice.i enjoyed singing along with you ,well trying too ne way ....R.I L O L. With your Angels in heaven, lucky them.
This was my da favorite song an he made it clear this song was to be played at his funeral. My dad pasted away January 30th 2014 an I played this song for him an he took his last breathe.
A great singer can make any song his, but sometimes the song is bigger than the singer and takes on a life of its own. Such is the case with "Farewell Party." But no matter who does it, there's nothing like the original from the great Gene Watson. Thanks, Raymond!
i remeber you sing this song to me a the t brid in danville va for my 18th birthday i still love you and your songs i wish i could see you one more time carolyn
If you want to know what a true musician is, watch Steve Palousek's face when he plays his solo in the middle. Watch his face and listen to his hands. Every emotion on his face is coming out in and through his hands. Amazing. Gives me chills.
wish he were singing it to me :-) love this version...I have it on VHS from Austin City Limits..one of the best performances ever & nice job on the pedal steel too..kat
II went to one of his concerts & it was so good He came off the stage and signed my guitar with all the band his concert was one of the best ive ever seen Very friendly group of guys .. thanks Gene & band for the show and a chance to chat with you all take and hope to see ya again soon....:)
Gene, in 2000, had colon Cander. And he fought it and won that awesome battle. He also was a heavy drinker and smoker years ago, and he left all that behind. He's a wonderful guy as well as a singer...
This is soooooo good - just can't seem to get enough of listening to this song. Watching this video just now, I finally figured out who the younger version of Gene Watson reminds me of and I really hate putting it down on paper because I'll probably get a lot of flack from it but here goes - he reminds me of a younger Dog The Bounty Hunter. Watch the video again and see if you can see a little bit of Dog in Gene. Thanks so much for the posting of this video - just great! - Gini
Oh This Has Just Got To Be The Very Best Version Of This Song By Gene. I Just Cant Stop Listening To It,and Watching Gene Sing It. This Is What Makes Life Wonderfull.Luv You Gene. Also Thanks For Posting This One ! Pat
