      I also think it adds a good amount of value to the vlogs. Not only the time between the played hands but also between the sessions. Now that I think of it I'd also like to know about how many hands they get through per hour and if it changes much from one session to another where there's approximately the same amount of players in. I would think that it has an affect on the overall mood at the table but it's impossible to even make an educated guess without playing yourself much live on a regular basis and in different places.

    Another video that encapsulates why I love this channel. You easily could have not included the pocket Aces hand and most of us would never have known. A lot of other channels would not have included it because it was an embarrassing mistake. However, you did because mistakes are a part of poker, and it is how you handle those mistakes that is important. You easily could have checked down, given him the pot and moved on, but you recognized you would have lost more had it played out naturally and so you paid your opponent some equity for your mistake. Personally I would have felt miserable at that point and gone on tilt or gone home, but you continued to play good poker and finished strong. So much to take away from this video. Thanks for sharing it and for all of the work you do to show your ups AND downs! Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!

    • @DFTBAT
      @DFTBAT 2 года назад +38

      I don't think giving him the $100 was necessary. Showing his hand was a mistake, and at worst it should cost him the chips that were already in the middle. HJ at the time considered a check down to be to his advantage since he was behind and would at least get 2 more free cards.
      As Brad said, HJ could have just kept his mouth shut and bet the turn to play mind games and maybe get paid off. Especially since he hit the full house on the turn.
      I think if I were an anonymous player in a poker room, I wouldn't have parted with the $100. But putting myself in Brad's shoes as a known player, I can definitely understand why the $100 is easy to just give up there.

      first of all that’s bull shit because i’ve seen this happen before in a casino and a player get stacked because of it. right let’s just imagine that the guy never said i’ll check it down. Well he’s getting the right pot odds to peel a turn for the money. than he would’ve hit his trip 10,s and then when player check raises you all in. brad is going to either call and look really stupid for calling or fold and look even more stupid for calling when clearly the guy can see his cards. so in this scenario I love you brad but a huge blunder on your part.

    • @Nodnarb212
      @Nodnarb212 2 года назад +1

      How ? He completely changed the story about what the guy said? The guy never said you can bet the turn and I’ll fold. He said we can check it down and brad said okay, then the guy said Or you can bet the turn.. why is it the guys fault or problem at all? Brad was the one who was trying to get away from it cheap by betting 15 on the turn and taking it down. It’s not the other guys fault he showed his cards… I thought it was a borderline angle shooting scenario. Dealer even know it too. If it were me I woulda told him after the flop he could either fold or we can play it w/ all the info I have now and could easily bluff him.

    • @asb3pe
      @asb3pe 2 года назад

      @@Nodnarb212 you might technically be correct about the exact words but the very clear implication of villain's turn statement is that "you can bet the turn AND I'LL JUST FOLD" Of course, when he boats up on the turn, everything changes... in my opinion BOTH players were at fault here, altho its not anything to get angry over because honest mistakes do happen in live poker, and that is why I'm so gracious to Brad for showing us this entire sequence. It is a wonderful learning moment for anyone who may just be learning the game, to (a) always pay attention to your actions, and (b) what might seem perfectly okay at the moment might not be quite so okay to all parties based on precisely what occurred here on the turn. Just an amazing set of circumstances that many vloggers might have edited out but I am quite thankful Brad did not do that even tho it is obviously somewhat embarassing for him to reveal what happened. We've all been there, I think, and anyone who says they've never done such a thing probably has not played very much live poker. If the other guy made a mistake, it was his implied offer of "you bet the turn (and I'll fold)". Just stay quiet and let the hand proceed, that is the ultimate lesson to be learned here... in my humble opinion. Thank you Brad for showing this hand!!

    • @asb3pe
      @asb3pe 2 года назад +1

      P.S. What might get lost in all the discussion is the unfortunate fact - which Brad mentions - that the dealer was also not paying close attention and put out the river card before the betting action had been completed on the turn. This multiplied and magnified the entire gaffe quite a bit, altho it may also have defused it as well if you think about it. If villain raised Brad's 15 turn bet, it's not a fun spot nor a friendly spot anymore. I bet Brad folds after some thought about it, but the whole thing was just a mess including from the dealer!!! This is as sickening as live poker can get, and I'll say it again, I am impressed and thankful that Brad showed the painful hand for others to learn from.

      @mynameisabe905 2 года назад

      @@asb3pe I do agree Brad handled it well overall but I disagree with you here. What was agreed was checking it down.

    • @ionalien

      100%. Villain never said “or you can bet the turn and I’ll fold.” What he implied, in my opinion, was “you can bet the turn.. but I’d be able to put you in a tough spot considering I know your exact hand and you don’t know mine. So, we can just check it down or…”
      Weird spot, Brad. Handled it with class but imho that was not the right move to bet tiny on turn like that after the discussion that took place. GG and thanks for the content.

      dude shouldnt have agreed to anything right there, as he paid the money, the turn shoulda been flipped up right away. then if he wants to talk he can. staying silent for a few seconds is a good strategy after anything occurs at the table.
      not that i wanna see brad lose or anything, dude is awesome, but opponent called. just be quiet mr. villain and enjoy the turn card u paid for,then either take ur action or discuss the friendly side to it :)

    The edit on the AA hand is kinda gross. He says "do you want to check it down?" and you said "yeah, if you don't mind." He began to then say "or, if you bet the turn," implying that he'd fold if he doesn't improve. I don't think the other player did anything wrong.

    • @josieclarke460
      @josieclarke460 2 года назад

      Yea, kind of feels like a bit of an unintentional angle. The only circumstance that would have been fair would be to play the hand as normal. There shouldn't have been an option other than checking it down and letting Brad bet gives himself the only advantage in this situation.

    re: the exposed aces You're a human. Humans make mistakes sometimes. It was a completely innocent error that was entirely made awkward and weird by the villain's desire to take advantage of his subsequent 2-outer. Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about here. Things happen.

      @@BradOwenPoker no it doesn’t imply any action on his part because it’s an incomplete sentence. He already offered you a checkdown and “if you bet the turn,” then he’ll assume you are not interested in checking it down. He’s 100% giving you as much freedom as you want so he doesn’t look scummy on camera.

    AA hand is interesting. At first he is asking to check it down to his advantage mostly (as long as he doesn't hit a 10), it is a fair offer in this scenario. Your bet of 15 on the turn makes little sense. I don't think he was saying he would fold to the bet. He could have a 4, he could have anything. Once you bet 15 you open yourself up to getting raised, more often than not if you get raised you're going to be losing IMO. Why risk being put in an even grosser situation for $15? If you have the best hand, you're going to win by checking it down anyways. I think once he offered to check it down, and you basically agreed, you should have left it at that and done so.

    • @966631514
      @966631514 2 года назад +1

      I agree BB was not offering to fold to a turn bet. (Brad was still deciding whether to check it down at that point so forfeiting the pot would make no sense from BBs POV. It would be like open folding.) He was saying we can check it down or continue normally. He thought Brad was choosing to continue normally. But then the dealer dealt the river and BB exposed his hand and all hell broke loose. BB was worried about looking bad if he raised, hence the reason he asked if this was going on youtube. Unfortunate situation
