I think the Magic-Bird-Jordan era is also the Golden Era of the NBA (80s-2000s). It's a sweet spot in the evolution of the league where strong basketball fundamentals were still present, but you also got athletic, skillful backcourt and wing players (with centers still dominating and playing their traditional role) making the game exciting to watch. There wasn't a prevalent of low iq plays (travels, emphasis on 3 pointers no matter what), and the offense was more varied, as opposed to today where it's all 3 pointers or layups/dunks with no in-between. If you go back further into the 70s and 60s, then all the players were fundamentally sound, but skill level was still evolving. If you go past the 2000s into today, then the fundamentals start to disappear in favour of skill and athleticism.
