Carl Palmer the most amazing Prog. drummer and showman Have seen him numerous times always delivers as a drummer myself . He always been an inspiration The master
HOLY SH&+ !!! CARL!!!? This man is a living legend and treasure to stoll have with us playing those damn drums like he was 20 years old God bless him you go Carl! You f-ing go
CARL IS MY DRUM GOD.... E.L.P. were my favorite BAND of all time... SO sad that Greg and Keith are gone.. .but, GREAT THAT CARL is keeping the music ALIVE...
Thanks for posting truly a magnificent drummer. I like the way he expresses himself with such direction . Subtleties and the powerful use of his technique in his hands absolutely amusing. And to think of all the places he has played his music. Thank you Carl Palmer.
I have seen him twice both at small venues. My all time favorite percussionist! Everytime amazing with the sticks! He is very entertaining as well as humble. He signed my tour shirt & posed for a picture. He remarked that it was my third time seeing him perform? It was actually twice but of all the people he sees he remembered my face two years in a row.
ELP has always been my favorite group, and I have seen Carl with his band four or five times now. I was skeptical of his most recent tour with the "reunion" of ELP on the screens. However, I highly recommend going to see the show when he books more dates this year! It was extremely well done!
I took my son to see him and tried to play up Carl as much as possible. My son said, "You said he was good, but you didn't say he was THAT GOOD!." I tried to tell him
That ladies and gentlemen is why I’ve always considered Carl the best drummer in rock.I first heard him play when I was four years old in 1970 when I heard the first Emerson Lake and Palmer album I had to be a drummer from then on
I noticed how Carl checked his 2 sticks when he picked them up. There is always one stick that he, i , we use for left hand and right. i do this too. Wonderful and thanks. i've seen ELP 3 times with all three of them. First time was in 1974 in Albuquerque New Mexico (in 4 channel sound) when i was stationed in Clovis NM at Cannon AFB. I still have the "ELP" patch sewed on my old field jacket
Could someone tell me how old he was when he made this presentation? for me this is one of the greatest living drummers in the world. LOVE E.L.P. ----- I have said.
Had the pleasure, honor to see ELP 2x & Asia. Yes Carl is one of the worlds top percussionists. He inspired me in school. One concert, at the August Jam, Charlotte motor speedway, with the entire Peach label of fine Southern groups, (headline - the Allman brothers) ELP played just before. Works 1 had been released, Tarkus, the encore.
Always an excellent player. His passion for playing drums drives him to mix it up as well as keeping his signature riffs. He has inspired me to play since I saw him with ELP's performance at the California Jam. I saw his band live in a small venue in 2014. The force and Power in which he hit the drums was AMAZING! His exercise routine has served him well. Thank you Sir!
Grande bellissimo. Non lo conoscevo così non immaginavo non sapevo. Video per caso e l'ho lasciato andare fino alla fine. Questo la dice tutta. Bravissimo rock on.
Thanks for the upload Andrew Schwartzman. Palmer is still killing it at 68 years old! Palmer is the most underrated drummer, EVER! I just Googled "greatest drummers of all time" and Rollingstone mag does't even have him in the top 100. Are you kidding me!? Modern Drummer has him ranked 41 out of 50 (they have Peart at 3) I will never understand why he is so underrated. IMO, it's Palmer and then Peart. If you wanna say Peart was the greatest, that is fine with me, but why isn't Palmer ever in the same conversation? Palmer's drum solo on "Welcome Back My Friends" - Karn Evil 9, is the greatest drum solo that I've ever heard. Oh well, we all have our opinions, even if they are wrong.
I remember in 1977 Carl Palmer was rated no.1, followed by Phil Collins (to some people's disagreement), but this was purely something said by the then media, although not the Rolling Stone.
Hi Andrew, forgot to say thanks for sharing this video. I saw Carl exactly 2 weeks after you did & OMGosh...I was so amazed! I never had the fortune of seeing ELP nor Asia, so Carl was going to be my only chance to get a feel for what it might have been like to experience ELP. He did NOT disappoint!!!! Not sure if you belong to the ELP fan appreciation FB page that I do but you should post this video there if you do. I don't remember seeing it. I was most excited about hearing Carl do this song but in actuality, it was Trilogy that wiped me out. I fought back tears the whole song. Carl & his band are doing a very righteous job of paying homage to ELP. He drums with so much passion...but it was how often he smiles while playing that grabbed my heart. He obviously loves doing what he does best...drumming! He is (still) a drumming beast! Great video!!!!
He really is a legend in life. It is intact and with all the energy in an instrument that is not easy. I still remember the visit to Buenos Aires and the opportunity I had to marvel at the ELP live show. Congratulations Carl, more than justified the title of LEGACY
This is fantastic, thank you for posting. I have to say that "a cappella" is a curious qualifier for a thunderous drum solo. Hard to imagine this glorious noise in a medieval chapel 😜
Well that’s just the whole ‘hoe down’ on drum soloing ain’t it! Had a couple of ELP albums in my collection back in the day. Took an electronic music course at UW - Madison and learned about ring modulators because of ELP’s ‘Lucky Man’. Carl’s a joy! Thank you.
Y’all remember what he said at the beginning this is their last song, he had already been playing for a hour or more. Nothing short of amazing. I saw him in Atl and his solo was over a hour and half into the show. They played another ten minutes after his solo.😱
Saw EL&P live as one of my first concerts; probably the Works I tour, minus the orchestra (if I remember correctly). It was everything that my young mind could have hoped for. While there are comments on his "timekeeping," that didn't seem critical to ELP; his virtuosity was evident. He FIT! The show was awe inspiring and technically he was a match for the music being created. I dare anyone to listen to BSS, Tarkus, etc., and not be stunned into silence by the interplay of those three musicians.
8 hear you brother i try my best to turn people on to them but they just dont understand whats being played and the time keeping and the changes in time the changes 8n 5he music of their songs and then to DO IT LIVE AND SOUND 98 % SAME AS THE ALBUM !!!
I could go on and on Gregs God given natural voice mr Emersons crazy sounds that he invented himself imagine the hours spejt just fucking around after yhe rest of yhe band was long gone figureing all these sounds and solos never be anybody even close to these 3 genius's
wish that the camera showed the band a bit.....i mean c'mon..........but i love how Carl's bass pedals SHAKE the whole room ! and the rest of the kit sounds huge too ............what a drummer !.........
@@danguee1 okay , i'll grant you that Mr. Palmer is THE highlight here, but i would have liked at least one camera pan to the whole band in the first 4 minutes, i wanted to see what the guitar was doing........Palmer is awesome the rest of the way.........wb
Perhaps only the great Buddy Rich, a role model for Carl(and just about every drummer!) and a man who appreciated Carl's enormous talents, could handle a pair of drum sticks more adeptly. Carl and the equally great, though stylistically very different Neil Peart. Buddy and Neil are, of course, not with us anymore but Carl maintains his position as one of the most technically complete drummer/performers in rock history.
Can you imagine trying to eat a chinese meal with Carl? He'd clear the table with his chopsticks before anyone else got a look in.....astounding stuff.
Carl Palmer is one of the best drummers I've ever heard.
This MAN is ONE OF THE GREATEST DRUMMER'S EVER
This man! The hell of a Drummer! Holy Christ! Love you, Carl! 🎇✨
What a real treat . Didn't even break a sweat !
Amazing.!!! Carl Palmer is one of the best drummers of all time.
This man is in his 70s and blowing most men half his age away. He works hard to maintain these chops Carl Palmer is a consummate professional
70 is the new 50. Amazing to see Carl on the drums as energetic as when he and his band were together years ago.
Palmer and Neil Peart, two of the best drummers ever, yet Palmer doesn't even hit the top ten list on a lot of polls, very underrated.
what a FORCE OF NATURE!
I'm so glad he lives all the way through to the 2020's!!! Legend!!
Amazing Mr. Palmer. This was 9 days before his 68th birthday. Miss Keith Emerson & Greg Lake. May they Rest In Peace. Thanks for the wonderful music.
INSPIRATIONAL!!!!!!
Wow, Bravo!!!

He still is a monster drummer.

Old man playing the drums... LIKE NO OTHER! He's 68 here. 68!!
ELP has always been my favorite group, and I have seen Carl with his band four or five times now. I was skeptical of his most recent tour with the "reunion" of ELP on the screens. However, I highly recommend going to see the show when he books more dates this year! It was extremely well done!

Carl is one of the truly greatest of our time. ELP what a legacy
Palmer is as much of an athlete as he is a musician.
It's exhausting just watching him. What a drummer!
His hand speed is incredible!
Simply an amazing drummer.
Never get tired of seeing The God Of Drummers play. Thanks for continuing the ELP Legacy Carl. Hope to see you live real soon..
Master!

A Rhythmic Force to be always acknowledged !!!!!! Brilliant gentleman !!!

Unbelievable stuff!! Truly amazing!!!
Incredible Carl! ELP
Powerful man awesome musician blows Bonham Baker and Moon away
the greatest living drummer! He's always been and still he is 👍👍👍
This should have been played in The Royal Albert Hall. Unelieveable perfornace, I bow.
I had 'Fanfare For The Common Man' played at my wedding. I wish it had been this version!
Could someone tell me how old he was when he made this presentation? for me this is one of the greatest living drummers in the world. LOVE E.L.P. ----- I have said.

CARL WAS OPENLY Respected BY BUDDY
He plays as he's having two independent drumsticks in every hand. One of my favourite drummers!
I seriously had the hots for him in ‘70-‘72, haha. Still great. What a drummer and a very kind and sweet man.
Glorious performance, the double kick part with the gongs and then the drum roll resembling live at Zurich 1970 is amazing
...a giant as always, great respect.
Had the pleasure, honor to see ELP 2x & Asia. Yes Carl is one of the worlds top percussionists. He inspired me in school. Carl is a superb drummer.
I love you Carl!!!
Bloody AWESOME!
It's nice to see Carl drops almost as many sticks as I do. Seriously though, this is amazing.
Goooodness that CPE. Carl Palmer Energy can't be beaten. Hitting em hard to.
That cymbal bit was amazeballs.
Always an excellent player. His passion for playing drums drives him to mix it up as well as keeping his signature riffs. Probably the greatest drummer to have lived
Incredible!

Fuckin hell, the old boys still got it 🤩👏👍.
Carl lost a stick,Never lost the grove and people still know he is the greatest. Rock jazz fusion drummer ever.
I loved you then. I even LOVE you more now! OMG, I can't explain how you make me feel - Carl.
You bring back to when I was a kid. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
Thanks for the upload Andrew Schwartzman. Palmer is still killing it at 68 years old!

smoke 14 - it’s OK, I don’t have Rolling Stone in the Top 100 rock and roll magazines, either...
Seems "Prog Rock" is simply ignored by those self-opinionated inbreds.
I remember in 1977 Carl Palmer was rated no.1, followed by Phil Collins (to some people's disagreement), but this was purely something said by the then media, although not the Rolling Stone.
what was that magazine again?
Order should be Carl Palmer, Ginger Baker,John Bonham as #1, 2 and 3
He brought the legacy of Buddy Rich into his time. Don't know if any younger drummer today drums in this style.
Sono ancora contento, e sono ancora qua, questo è importante...Un Gigante., per me migliore batterista di sempre.
Watching the greatest of all TIME!!!!!
Talk about excelling!!!?Blow me away....Carl!!
💘💘💘💘 Superb
Thank you God for ELP

The best.
Still amazing.

WOW; JUST, WOW...
As fresh as the drum track from the studio version 42 years ago.
Always been a beast of a drummer! One speed only flat out +
Didn't realize just how good a drummer he is!
CP. . Drummer of the century. . .

Great solo!! Amazing chops!! You can still hear the strong Buddy Rich influence in his solos.
Greatest drummer bar none there’s no comparison to anyone else
wish that the camera showed the band a bit.....i mean c'mon..........but i love how Carl's bass pedals SHAKE the whole room ! and the rest of the kit sounds huge too ............what a drummer !.........
Huh? This was almost entirely a drum solo! When it finally broke away from solo, they were shown...

His style of playing is unique!
Messy and erratic at times, but certainly unique
Epic!
FUCK…ME…SIDEWAYS… absolute machine of a drummer.
Amazing As Always !
What a legend! 👏👏👏
My old mate Denis used to teach Karate, Carl was one of them ! Great drummer one of England's best..
Perhaps only the great Buddy Rich, a role model for Carl(and just about every drummer!) and a man who appreciated Carl's enormous talents, could handle a pair of drum sticks more adeptly. Neil pert, rush, that's Mickey mouse music.
Thanks for the upload! I saw him in New Hampshire last October and it was great! He played this and rocked it!
Can you imagine trying to eat a chinese meal with Carl? He'd clear the table with his chopsticks before anyone else got a look in.....astounding stuff.
