  • This boom box features dual cassette decks, high speed dubbing, and a graphic EQ. It was sold as the J.C. Penney Model 681-3024, Lloyd's Model 444, and Uher Power Port 110. If you are feeling nostalgic for an example of 1980s mediocrity, join us as we explore flimsy flywheels, poorly designed pause parts, and an unimpressive "uni-motor" drive mechanism.

The low end of the EQ here is only 100Hz, I am hoping to one day find a Magnavox "Power Player" with the large center woofer and see how that sounds. Probably not as good as a subwoofer... Anyway, thanks for the comment!

This model seems to be mostly working, even with a hard life and little maintenance - thanks for watching!

I recently fixed a soundesign boom box for someone and it too had 4 speakers. Two facing up and two facing forward. Unfortunately I was not %100 able to fix for the person as could not get the FM stereo to work right. In FM stereo the light would flash to audio and the sound would be distorted.

They could try very slow fine tuning, re-positioning the radio or FM antenna and see if that helps... If that does not work, it might be a problem with the circuit which would require extensive troubleshooting. I had a Panasonic SE-5808 radio that had a dead channel in stereo mode and it was a capacitor... Anyway thanks for watching and commenting!

If you imported the boombox from another country make sure the AM/FM radio frequency matches what your country has. If the radio's frequency is outside your country's range you will not hear anything. Next just deoxit the radio tuner knob and buttons, and after that, if still not working, there is a chance someone messed with the radio tuner and threw it out of sync and it would require re-diagnostics to put the tuner back in order.
I just got a Pioneer boombox the seller said the radio was dead, turns out it's a Japanese only model that someone imported back in the 70s/80s and the radio frequency it runs on is not the same frequency that the USA has, so you hear nothing at all. You may get an AM station to work but that's it. I didn't buy it to listen to the radio anyway, but yeah just something to check. The most obvious problem is the most overlooked problem.
