I got this model from my company with i9 9k series.. With 32gigs, Nvidia rtx 6gigs. It's a beast to work on. Specially during this corona time, it's a pleasure to work on it from home..
Excellent Review covered performance, compared options and discussed and showed upgradability. Finally, also compared to P53 and Precision 7740. I have been researching all three. Viewing videos and reading reviews. Working inside the P53 and 7740 is difficult and in some cases impossible due to over tightened fasteners. Z15 has nice access to all upgrades/additions. Well done review. Thank-you.
Hi just a few points to note yes it is a great machine when all is going well. However within 2 months the power supply went so i had the hassle of getting a new one at a difficult time because i really needed it that day. The second problem was again power related. NEVER let the power run all the way down. I did this in Japan (thought i would just unpack the power supply and plug it in to fix the problem) and it would not take enough charge to restart. I even hunted around and found 2 laptop repair places in Tokyo. Both formed the same conclusion the laptop has had it! I knew that was not the case and one place allowed me to strip it to get to the battery (not as easy as the videos on here!) and charge the battery directly without it connected so draining quicker than charging. It still would not work. I almost went to yodobashi camera and bought a new laptop but i had a theory so i waited until i flew back to Thailand. Sure enough, when i plugged it in, it worked. The power supply says 110 to 230v but the power in Japan simply was not enough to kick start the machine with a dead battery. It needed the juicier 240 available in Thailand or UK. Just worth noting. Sorry one more thing ... at the airport after security checks it was on the ledge waiting for me to put back in the main bag and a very rude lady grabbed her bag in a rush and knocked it onto the floor (still in its smaller bag). She said sorry and ran! Later when i took it out to use, it had quite a severe dent on the corner near where my hand usually sits. They are VERY heavy and if you drop it, you will not get away with it without a fair bit of damage. Carbon Fibre would be nice :)
Dell Precision 7550 is a beast. Newer components than the older ZBook G6. No details when the ZBook G7 range will be released but looking forward to the ZBook Studio and ZBook Create workstations when they launch anytime soon.
Great content. If you work as a video editor, what laptop you choose? Use premiere pro and davinci resolve, 4k/6k projects. Also be portable if need it. Thanks.
Any Z series workstation will work just fine. However, I would recommend the Zbook Studio G6 for amazing balance between performance and portability. I am currently using the Zbook Studio G5 when on the move, and looking forward to upgrade to the upcoming Zbook Studio G7.

Hi! Do you know if there will be an AMD workstation laptop in 2020? I simply have no confidence in Intel after they have pulled their recent appalling stunts? Thanks for the nice review!
Hey, thanks for the comments. More than likely as AMD has announced the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU at CES 2020. I can see HP/Dell/Lenovo using them in their workstation laptop range.
