How long does the process generally take from start to completion?
the NCA says that on average it takes NCA candidates roughly 2 years to complete their assessment. Most of our students complete it within a year.
Why aren’t You allowed to practice in Quebec though?
Quebec is a hybrid legal system of both civil law and common law. You need to be trained in civil law to practise in Quebec.

Hello Amit, you will have to go through the requalification process through the NCA. You can visit the NCA website and read about the process here: nca.legal/process/assessment-process/. We also have a blog post on our website that explains the process in better detail here: nca-tutor.com/ncaexamblog/process. I hope this is helpful.

Hello Gurinder, I am happy to help. A law degree in India is not considered a law degree in Canada. You will have to go through the requalification process through the NCA. You can visit the NCA website and read on the process here: nca.legal/process/assessment-process/. We also have a blog post on our website explaining the process here: nca-tutor.com/ncaexamblog/process. I hope this is helpful.
Hey, nice video. Actually I’m from India, I’ve a few doubts:
1. Do I need to be physically present in Canada for attempting NCA exams or could it be given in my home country?
2. If I get NCA certificate and want to come to canada for the bar exam, will I get the visa easily?
3. Also, if I have 2-3 yrs of work experience in my home country, can I use it against the 10 months articleship period?
Waiting for your response, thanks in advance.
Hi Atul, I hope I can ease some of the doubts you may have. You can complete your NCA exams from India and do not need to be present in Canada as they offer their exams online. For more information on the NCA's online exams please find the link to the NCA website here:nca.legal/exams/content/. We cannot provide any immigration advice, but I do recommend that you consult with an immigration lawyer or a registered immigration consultant to get further information. With regards to your articling, each province has its own requirements and criteria but some law societies do allow you to reduce your articleship period through an abridgment application. I hope this is helpful.

Hi, I’m from Azerbaijan. I’m going to move to Canada within a year. (I'm in 10th grade now). Do you think it will be difficult to study to become a lawyer in Kingston, Ontario? Which universities with a law faculty in Kingston or in nearby cities can you recommend to me? Pls answer me🥹
Queen's university is located in Kingston and they have a law school there. It is very competitive to get into law school in Canada. You cannot apply directly from high school to get into law school. You need at least two years of university experience before you can apply to a Canadian law school.
