I think that person to person connections are great. Taiwanese people deserve the support of people everywhere since they are threatened by China. That said at official levels it makes sense to continue discussing "the status quo" so as not to provoke China. Lithuania has been in NATO since 2004. But the US has been hesitant to put too many troops there. The USA is only now getting to a position where the US military with its regional partners could credibly deter a Russian invasion. This mostly has to do with the entry of Finland into NATO. In the coming years the US will build up its presence there so that Russia would fear the consequences of an attack. Taiwan has the advantage of being an island but the island is only tens of kilometers from China. The US would probably not be able to prevent the Chinese military from taking over the island if it was determined to do so.
This video is already dated ...in November 2023, Lithuania has changed its tune towards China as it started a process to normalize relations with China. To start, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister refused to meet face to face with Taiwan's foreign minister when the Taiwan Foreign Minister visited the 3 Baltic states in early November. The EU corporations are angry that Lithuania's products are affecting their own exports to China and the Lithuanian companies are angry that they lost the China market. Lithuania also reiterated its stand on the One China Policy.

So after all the rhetoric Lithuania dare not to recognise Taiwan island as an independent state. Lithuania's weight as a democracy is obviously much heavier than any dictatorship. Taiwan is de facto an independent state so it is not necessary for the world to recognise what is already acknowledged. Instead of having its eyes poked by Taiwan, the dragon should rather open them and acknowledge it too. In that sense Lithuania is so much clever.
