I still listen to their songs since Sing-Off😁

I'm listening on Juneteenth 2024.

Bravo, men. Bravo.
I’ve shared this with my middle school students for years now. They get kinda quiet in the presence of this perfect, skillful and passionate version of one of the most important songs in the land. What a blessed recording. Please keep sharing the great song of hope.
If the NFL is going to have this at the beginning of the games they need to have this group perform it. Great job guys.
amen!!!!
This will be sung for only the 1st week of the NFL season b4 each game. Would be nice to clone these guys to sing at every game, but I doubt that can be done.

This is by far, the best rendition of the Black National Anthem.
Please put this on streaming platforms! I love this rendition!
Thank you for this beautiful rendition which inspired my music students to sit, listen, and learn as they realized that 5 good singers could sound like that!
This rendition of the anthem is giving me chills! May we always remember the struggle of our ancestors with expectancy, hope, dedication, faith and a determination to provide a better tomorrow.

This song needs to hold a place higher than the Star Spangled Banner, it saddens me that I am only learning the history, meaning and weight of this song now. To see crowds with locked arms of all races, genders, orientations and nationalities signing this together moves my heart and soul to a whole new level.
And if you truly think about it this more American than the Star Spangled Banner, and has more meaningful of struggling times and how we can over come it
This is so spiritual and uplifting, this hymn has brought us a long way. No other culture can replicate this talent! #blackmagic #blacknationalanthem
belizeanalienify actually only AFRICAN Americans can sing
non alien Uh..no. My husband was Black and he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Besides, there are Whites and Asians who can SING.

Listening to what is sub-titled the "Black National Anthem" should not be listened to even once----unless you want to promote a racist agenda.
I remember being in my middle school's choir class and the choir teacher played this. I was absolute blown away by the vocals (and how handsome they were). Ever since then I would come home and play this video back to back. 😍
Beyond words... I am utterly touched by this interpretation of this very significant song. What a jewel! Thank You!

Lift every voice and sing has never been sung so amazingly! These five voices can sing to my ears any time. Thank you for sharing your gift! This was sung in school when I was younger.
I rarely get emotional over things like this but I love this. I only know of this through searching police brutality videos (because I live in the UK and police ain't that bad here) and discovering The Advise Show, who played this at the beginning of a livestream. Through darkness comes beauty is what I'd say about this song.

I am blown away. A friend was asking for suggestions for a playlist of songs to play to celebrate the day Trump leaves office, so I went searching for a really good version of the Black National Anthem. @Toccoa Rivera What? Not enough 'bombs bursting in air' and 'rockets' red glare'
@Toccoa Rivera The racism is in “The Star Spangled Banner." From the 3ʳᵈ verse (removed from modern hymnals: there are _four_ verses in the original):
“No ref-uge can save
The hire-ling and *slave*
From the ter-ror of flight,
Or the gloom of the _grave.”_
It wishes _death_ on slaves.
@@JoelERea I said the same thing. THIS needs to be our national anthem. This was beautiful.
@@trishie3376 It’d sure beat “The Star Spangled Banner.” That song is just bad on every level, in every aspect.
I think “America the Beautiful” should be our National Anthem, but “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” should be a top-tier patriotic song like “America the Beautiful” is now.
There's only one America..... pud
Absolutely beautiful tone and blend. These guys are extremely talented!
Best rendition I’ve ever heard!
I've given it 1 year.... I'm pretty sure this is the best rendition of our anthem I have ever heard. Every time I come back I've been more persuaded, and I'm convinced at this point.
You should listen to June's Diary sing it. I really like theirs too.
The best rendition of "Lift every voice" is the one Junes diary. They didnt do the whole song but the part they did i was amazing. You should check it out. JUNES DIARY SINGING "LIFT EVERY VOICE".
Okay... I've happily listened to June's Diary, since two people said I should. I actually listened to several different videos of them singing. While I think they're really gifted singers, their arrangements of the anthem don't compare. Chords, cadence, even doing this whole song... they are not even in the same ball park. Granted, these are two totally different singing groups, with completely different objectives...I'm not at all comparing or contrasting the groups themselves. Because honestly it's apples and oranges. But as far as Lift Every Voice goes, Committed has this in THE BAG. All the way.
I agree. June's Diary's version is beautiful but this one is spine tingling! While both arrangements are amazing, I prefer the cadence and chord choices this one makes. It doesn't hurt that I'm biased because I sing 2nd tenor down to bass and this version is more in my vocal wheelhouse.

hi
Most Beautiful! Wow!
Lift every voice and sing
Till earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land
Our native land

Absolutely exceptional. Extraordinary in every way.
Very nice, always loved this song. I heard this song often in Church, it's really a church hymn. It's so popular over the decades it became the Black national anthem.
Nope. Try again. My great-great grandma was a slave, and she sang this song. Maya Angelou’s movie I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings actually makes note of this. It was sang at her 8th grade graduation in lieu of the National Anthem back in the 40’s.

It's the Black National Anthem not a hymn
@@phillip2169 Do you think two things can be true at once, say, for example, that an anthem could also be a hymn?
Hymn: a type of song typically addressed to a deity.
Lift ev’ry voice and sing,
‘Til earth and HEAVEN ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on ’til victory is won.
ANSWER:
GOD of our weary years,
GOD of our silent tears,
THOU who has brought us thus far on the way;
THOU who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our GOD, where we met THEE,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget THEE;
Shadowed beneath THY hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our GOD,
True to our native land
