Outstanding I used to sing this song every morning back in 1980 at Martin Luther King elementary school in Dade county miami, florida. My national anthem says to be true to our God and native land.
Played this at our "virtual church" service. In support of the protests against police brutality all over our nation. My heart hurts and this music gives me hope. God bless these amazing musicians who sing from their hearts. Thank you. I know no one has posted anything for over 5 years so I hope someone sees this as a testament to God's grace no matter how bad things get. Thank you "Committed". You have done a beautiful thing.
I've given it 1 year.... I'm pretty sure this is the best rendition of our anthem I have ever heard. Every time I come back I've been more persuaded, and I'm convinced at this point.
The best rendition of "Lift every voice" is the one Junes diary. They didnt do the whole song but the part they did i was amazing. You should check it out. JUNES DIARY SINGING "LIFT EVERY VOICE".
Okay... I've happily listened to June's Diary, since two people said I should. I actually listened to several different videos of them singing. While I think they're really gifted singers, their arrangements of the anthem don't compare. Chords, cadence, even doing this whole song... they are not even in the same ball park. Granted, these are two totally different singing groups, with completely different objectives...I'm not at all comparing or contrasting the groups themselves. Because honestly it's apples and oranges. But as far as Lift Every Voice goes, Committed has this in THE BAG. All the way.
I agree. June's Diary's version is beautiful but this one is spine tingling! While both arrangements are amazing, I prefer the cadence and chord choices this one makes. It doesn't hurt that I'm biased because I sing 2nd tenor down to bass and this version is more in my vocal wheelhouse.
I'v been playing this for my students and it's amazing to watch them stop all the stuff kids do in class and sit in total in total awe. Grades 3-8 they will hear more as we go forward.

Beautiful, just beautiful. They just stood flat footed and sang. No drama, no hand gestures (that are very distracting) no rocking and rolling. Without the drama you're able to really appreciate the WORDS of the song. I wish we would teach this Anthem to our young people each Sunday.

Beautiful song, I would call this a hymn.
It IS a hymn. For whatever reason, it was decided to be the black National Anthem about 100 years ago.
It literally is. It's in a lot of hymnals.
BEAUTIFUL ❤️ that's all I can say. Learn this song at 12 years old now I'm 66 years old an still bring tears to my eyes.
Perfection! Gave me CHILLS - The Black National Anthem is a song full of history wrapped with layers of love and hope. Thank you for blessing us with your voices!
Sooo you want a white national anthem? Yellow national anthem? Purple national anthem? Thats whats coming
Yup, part of that history is that it was written for a white guy, Abraham Linkon's birthday.

@@neetrab Are you saying black people aren't considered lives? Damn, you're worse than the slavers. When I say all lives matter, I mean all lives matter. Do you understand that not having unity wont accomplish anything? Martin Luthor King Jr. hated riots and wanted the world to have peace so he achieved his goal through civil discourse. The BLM movement wants no peace and will burn buildings, loot, doxx and topple statues of Abraham Lincoln, for if it wasn't for him, slavery would still be very popular today.
