I am a doctor who practiced for 37 years. When attending anatomy class we had cadavers that were preserved in formaldehyde. The lab room stunk and after a few hours your eyes began to burn. The use of these amazing models and professors that have a passion for teaching will turn out doctors with a higher understanding of there patients. In my practice 80% of problems seen were musculoskeletal issues and with this knowledge in the beginning of instruction is incredibly useful.
As a med student now in anatomy I’m praying for these plastic models, cause as fun as studying with real cadavers are, I’m crying every class over the cadaver
Yet we leave in a time where thousands of our fellow man (incl medical staff, journalists, civilians) are wiped out in months by an aggressor and the US government invites the head of that govt to speak in their highest house of power. Sad times. YT is censoring comments to manipulate the narrative. 🇵🇸
Im a PT and have recently found your videos, they're great! i am dyslexic and find i learn best from videos... you have made my learning so much easier. Thank you!!
I have been suffering from back pain for almost 10 years and I am so happy to have watched this. Utterly empowering and so well explained! Thank you so much!
I am currently a STOTT Pilates instructor and studying for my certification. You videos not only make learning fun but have provided me with the visual information I need tomato sense of the human body and it biomechanics movements. Thank you so much!! :)
Hi! I am Turkish and second class medicine student. Your videos are realy helpfull to me. My English is not that great but your English is as smoot as I can understand. If I said something wrong sory. I just wanted to say thanks😊
I'm doing a yoga teacher training right now and just discovered your channel. All very informative, made simple and explained clearly. Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your videos. There aren't many like this. Very helpful. 🙏
Thanks Sam, i was a bricklayer in my younger days and I now am learning massage .After watching this video it really points out why we get so stiff and sore ,so many layers and groups of muscles .
@Hussam H.Ahmad hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to discover stiff hips and lower back try Nevolly Hip Relief Nerd ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.
Very good style, intelligent fellow. Although I'm a layman on anatomy I can say that the constant pain is simple but the relationships between the causes (back, respiration, rib cage alignment, core, hips) combine to make a complex puzzle that cause millions mental fatigue from all those zaps and jabs. So, students shouldn't begrudge the subject too much, its a heavy hitter in more ways than one! To put it in perspective: After a few years of what i used to call "oh, me back!" I corrected it to the less fashionable "aah, me hips". Discovering the possible contribution from QL made some improvement, I am now considering whether "oh, me back!" may be closer to the truth. My latest search is into the erector spinae, which has led me here. The zaps arent so bad as at least they tend to hit and its over. The trickiest element is the injection like jab received about a third of the way between the top of the iliac crest down the butt over to the side. I get this on both left and right cheeks (this may be due to two separate injuries). These jabs occur all day long, to the point where you begin to weigh up the pros and cons of most simple movements and tasks you perform throughout the day. As soon as you lean forward over a sink or a car bonnet or bend slightly to pick something up, it gives you the nip. It feels like a cord passes from the mid-back over the iliac crest and is tethered somewhere in the glutes. When you bend and start putting weight on the back, rather than the thighs, that cord then complains immediately. It is probably worse when on your knees because you are unable to take much load on your thighs. I have come across quite a few people who describe it this way, but surprisingly the solution is a much harder search.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else needs to find out about good hip flexor stretches try Letza Joint Relief Lessons ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my buddy got cool results with it.
I appreciate this video a lot. A lot of the other videos that come up are for massage or exercise. I don't know what you do for a living, teacher or therapist, but you are good at explaining stuff. I like that you take the time to show us the models and even remind us what medical terminology words mean. I have a big med term book I had to get out trying to watch some other videos but you remind us as you go so we can stay on topic and not get lost. Superb job.
This was absolutely the best anatomy lesson I've ever heard. I can't wait to listen to the next one. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge on the back muscles. It helps that you are very funny and make learning interesting as well.
i had skipped this important topic in my first year anatomy as i found it really difficult to study this complicated stuff.. but sir you made it so wonderfully understandable.. i am really in love with your videos and will definately recommend it to most of my friends :)
having just had lumbar spinal stenosis surgically treated ( L3-5) I now understand why the recovery is accompanied by excruciating pain....cutting thru the many muscle layers to get to the inner core of the spine to remove osteophytes etc which was compressing spinal cord. recovery slow but steady.
you are brilliant i love the way you simplify things, it actually scary when i look into my lecture notes, books, not when i watch yr videos thanks very much
It's a funny new fascination watching yours and somanauts anatomy videos. they're SO moreish. I could watch them for hours. I'm a massage therapist and we did a 4hr anatomy, pathology and physiology exam with the Massage training Institute but that was all 6 years ago now and I'm seeing clients for massage most days so these videos are all invaluable help with my CPD. Thanks Sam. Also great to see you walked the Pembrokeshire Coast Path - I'm from St Davids! If you EVER have any public days in the lab sign me up, I'll be there with bells on!
This has helped me confirm some muscle imbalances I have been self diagnosing. Imbalance due to a deadlift accident almost 8 years ago. My erector spinae on right side of my body is extremely weak compared to opposite side. Been rehabing slowly using a glute-ham raise, superman holds, back extensions, high rep/low weight good mornings, jefferson curls. Very slow controlled eccentric/concentric. I try and do some of these exercises in a way that it will isolate my right side but it's tricky sometimes. The video is very helpful in giving my understanding and function of the group. Thanks!
+Michael Lee Good luck. Yeah, it sounds like you’ll be needing lots of high quality, single sided exercises. I’m doing the same for my hips to try to rebalance my posterior chain.
I have exactly the same issue! My right erector spinae is so weak. I used to skateboard for years and this has caused this imbalance. Have you corrected your imbalance now?
Thank you for your videos! I'm a personal trainer and had to learn some basic bone structure. Now I want to know a lot more about our anatomy and musculature so that I can be more effective as a trainer. Your videos are extremely helpful and interesting. I like the way you make things simple to understand.
i got prolapsed disc at L3/4 about 18 months ago so i have to stretch whole bottom half of body every few hours 24/7. this helps to show what muscles are involved.
If that sounds complex, imagine when you add in the variable of exercise and dynamic loads. This is what I studied in one of my courses for exercise coaching, and it is important for safely training other people. Adding this to supplement my courses is very helpful, Thank you
i swear this can't get any clearer. Thanks for the excellent explanation.. btw, I'm here to find out why I can't extend my back.. and this helps a lot.
I watched your video to educate myself on the names and where the different back muscles are so I could apply my EMS TENS machine pads. My pain is so bad right now its hard for me to breathe in. I think its the Erector Spinae back muscles or the Latissimus Dorsi muscles. I'm sure after I apply my pads I will be pain free. I hope and pray so.
Anatomy is the study of body parts which are bones, muscles, eyes, heart, stomach, skin, brain, diaphragm, nerves, vessels, glands, etc. But Antonym is the opposite word.
Whever i get up for my chair or bend over, when i start to straighten up i get a sharp pain across middle of my back, i then have to stop myself and resit or rise slowly to stop from 'locking up' and when i get up i have a dull ache across the top of my buttocks/waistline similar to sciatica. I get pain from neck down to butt and either side.

never went to any anatomy classes and binged these videos and then got an 80 on my exam lmao thanks sam

Another great video.
Correct me if I am wrong. Deep breathing reaches into deep layered muscles therefore relaxing body and mind. The opposite should also be true.
great videos love the music too
. Wow how does he remember those medical words ! Amazing guy !!
He understands the Latin.
What a great video, thanks.
Love your office
great explanations! thank you!

I luv how it takes 1/2 the video to get to the erector spinaes
