You're the only one who understands me. When I lubed my Wuque with heavy lubes at school and I said it made the cube faster, my friends were like "Did he just get out of an asylum?" or smt like that... :)
I finally got a wushuang for christmas (magnetizing it this week), and I used this method to lube it, and it is AMAZING. I also felt a bit froggy and decided to try out the spring compression mod like on the Wuque and it is flying now. Also added 2 drops of Compound V and I couldn't be happier with this setup, can't wait to see what magnets add to it :) Thanks again for this tutorial!!!!
For fun, I did all of this with dnm 37, rather than weight 5, and it actually worked. I don't reccomend it if you want to control your cube, but its not to horrible
Really neat advice, I should try focusing more lube closer to the core. Usually I would just lube a dividing line between the layers from top to bottom. Works well for all my GTS cubes & YuXin 6x6 (I don't have any Wu cubes) most of the time I use only high viscosity lube and just break it in. Sometimes I would add a bit of silk hoping to make the cube feel more like an AoSu GTS.
Yeah, I always used to lube the outer layers and have that be my primary focus. It has been really interesting experimenting with different ways of doing it. I've primarily alawys been a heavy weight lube kind of guy because I find it to be the most versatile lube. But I should experiment with weights like 1-3 to see how I like them. Silk and DNM are always great lubes to have on hand as well. (though, not to be mixed with weight 5! haha)
I don't like to do that only because it can be very hard to get the pieces fully dry. Water likes to sit inside the pieces. I think a dry cloth does the trick just fine. :)
You really didn't talk about tensioning at all, and my WuShuang isn't cutting anywhere near 45 degrees. If you could give me some pointers, that would be great.
I only put some traxxas 50k in my yuxin5 and its super nice... I dont know how is that possable since teaxxas is so thick I expected it to be slower but it got faster and smoother.
This lubing method certainly didn't work for me on my stickerless wushuang. I used Traxis 50k and lubed exactly as you said, though my cube is far gummier than I'd ever like. I actually thought I used less lube than you instructed but the cube is still crazy gummy. It might be because I previously had lubed it lubed with lubicle silk and like his DNM it might have messed with it, however, I thought I had very thoroughly cleaned it out. I'm just not sure what happened? does traxis 50k expire? Or do I just have an abnormally slow wushuang. Idk but now I'm rather sad I have to clean the lube out cause the reassembly was so tricky lol
Update: after about 10 solves now the cubes gotten better. It's still certainly a bit slower than It was before the lube but it feels pretty smooth, except for a bit of gumminess you felt in the beginning of a turn. Kind of like the pressure threshold of the gumminess withstanding a little bit until giving way. This seems to be going away little by little, but I'm still not sure. I may clean it out, I may not, but it's not as bad as it was ititially after I had only done a couple solves after lubing it.
It likely just needs more solves. It's going to be gummy but it breaks in very nicely. If you still find its too much, you can take one row out and wipe lube out in a few spots to help break in quicker.
The DNM and wt 5 thing ruined my Aosu I wish I knew it was a reaction between the two and not overlubing because I tried it again and not that is just the natural feel of the plastic.
I don't always reclean it. Sometimes it just needs extra lube when it wears out. I probably relube once a week. But I have also been solving a few hundred times a week lately.
I average about 25 seconds on 3x3 with a warrior w and am willing to spend about 20 dollars on a new 3x3. What should I get? I have looked into Yeaxiau pro, Valk, mf3rs2, gts 2, ect.
And btw how long does it take u to disassemble and reassemble a 5x5 because I’m honestly kind of apprehensive to disassemble mine because I haven’t disassembled one before and I feel like it would take 2 or 3 hours minimum and be pretty frustrating too. Any thoughts @cyotheking
i have a really tight 5x5 its like a rubiks brand but a 5x5, i just got traxxas 30k for my mf3rs and thought i could put it in my 5x5 but i cant open my 5x5 can i just slide some layers and put some lube in?
Haven't tried it! Those lubes are very different so the feel probably wouldn't be close at all. But it could be good! You'd just want to use less since it's such a runny lube.
I wouldn't call it over lubing. The lube is placed pretty strategically. This really isn't that much lube when you consider how many pieces it needs to spread across in a 5x5.
Take a shot every time he says ‘some lube’
Can you help me how to deal with the bodies
Take a shot every time he says “go ahead”
You're the only one who understands me. When I lubed my Wuque with heavy lubes at school and I said it made the cube faster, my friends were like "Did he just get out of an asylum?" or smt like that... :)
you are lucky that you even have cubers at your school. I'm the only one.
@Rowan Stables HEAVY LUBES (probably W5)
Gucci Pineapple that’s rly sad
Cyotheking it took 2 hours but my first average of 5 after I cleaned it was 15 seconds faster. Thank you so much
Glad to hear it!
I love how both of our wushuangs have the same chipping patterns in the stickers
The K18 lol
I may have to try to setup a 5x5 now...
Dana Yi what's ur main 4x4 now
Renshi cubing she uses gan 460
Cyo: Step 1, disassemble cube
Me: click out
same
If you add cubicle mystic, it speeds this setup like crazy. It is so good.
did the same works amazing
It's amazing how once heavy lubricant breaks in, your cube gets faster and smoother, it's worth the time and effort.
ikr
I tried this on my Yj Zhilong mini 5x5, and wow! This set up was super good and easy! Defiantly recommend this! Thank you for showing us this!
Kinda off topic but, could you possibly make a wuhua 6x6 assembled tutorial? I know me and a lot of other people have trouble assembling it.
Felix Bouchard You just use tape to hold it together during assembly.
Or weight 5 as really weak glue
I literally was looking for a video like this less than an hour ago... How did you know, Chris?
Mind reading is one of my gifts. ;)
and predicting your solves!
I just ordered my yuxin cloud 5x5 and this will really help me.
Clashing Champs same
3:56 TIL, I've always just dumped lube in big cubes after lubing the core
my 5x5 is so soft and smooth now, and extremely controllable! Thanks for the video!
I finally got a wushuang for christmas (magnetizing it this week), and I used this method to lube it, and it is AMAZING. Omg thx so much cyotheking. I have been waiting for this since forever. I always wanted to know how to set up my wushuang. U r amazing
2:02 whooaaat!!!
Chris is actually a magician 😂😂
Yay! You’re uploading again!
i have watched this video more than five times because i love your videos
For fun, I did all of this with dnm 37, rather than weight 5, and it actually worked. I don't reccomend it if you want to control your cube, but its not to horrible
I just put Traxxas 30K and DNM-37 on the pieces. Worked great!
TCuber88 I did the same thing! It feels pretty good!
MJBCuber, Cool! :)
I just tried this and the result is simply amazing! I used traxxas 50k
I got my first 5x5 the day you uploaded this.
What about lubicle gummy instead of Weight 5 because it’s the premium equivalent?
I followed the same way you did, My YuXin Little Magic 5x5 is performing like a beast..thanks for these.
I used 30k...
Works same IG
You can also use this lubing method on a spring compressed Wuque M. It feels really great; smooth, stable, and fast
Thank you so much, this tutorial was very helpfull and my qy qi budget 5x5 feels amazing
It’d be awesome if you showed us what you do for 4x4 :)
Nice nice tho. :p
I tried this on my Rubik 5x5 and I couldn’t take it apart
Really neat advice, I should try focusing more lube closer to the core. Usually I would just lube a dividing line between the layers from top to bottom. Works well for all my GTS cubes & YuXin 6x6 (I don't have any Wu cubes)

I did mix silk with weight 5 before and it's still quite ok. But I have never tried (or owned) DNM.
Thank you. I have 0 idea how to lube big cubes.
Please make some intermediate/Advanced tip for 5x5 or any sub x video
What would happen if I applied Lubicle Black?
Cleaning it out, would it help to soak the pieces in hot, soapy water?
I don't like to do that only because it can be very hard to get the pieces fully dry. Water likes to sit inside the pieces.
I think a dry cloth does the trick just fine. :)
Thanks! Can you make a video about second important thing - tensioning of this 5x5 and showing your current tension?
I did this method without the lubing of the pieces. DNM works this way
i don’t know how but somehow using just traxxas 50k anywhere, it’s super smooth and fast. it’s cool how good wushuangs are
traxxas 50k is bassically weight 5
Thanks a lot for this video.... I was able to set up my supernova wu shuang which I wasn't being able to figure out how to do it!!
I think you missed a spot....
I did the same process except with Traxxas 500k instead of weight 5. The feeling is... interesting, but i'll probably be cleaning it out soon.
Infernon if you used 500k it would be interesting. I wonder how long the break in period would be on that.
You really didn't talk about tensioning at all, and my WuShuang isn't cutting anywhere near 45 degrees. If you could give me some pointers, that would be great.
I suck at assembling cubes. I was just wondering if you would ever make a video about assembling 4x4 and up? Thanks.
I think there's quite a few others online that cover that topic. :)
cyotheking Thanks for answer. I will do some research:)
I have factory team 100k but the bottle hole is to big to fit a tip.
@0:27 YESSS he solved it in less than a minute!!!!!!!!
yes
So basically the same thing as lubing a 3x3 except u take out more than just the last corner to lube at the end
I only put some traxxas 50k in my yuxin5 and its super nice... I dont know how is that possable since teaxxas is so thick I expected it to be slower but it got faster and smoother.
What if I were to mix silk with this?
Do you guys think it’s worth self magnetizing a non magnetic 5x5 as I can’t buy one
If you couldn’t buy a magnetic one and had a non magnetic one I say yes
This lubing method certainly didn't work for me on my stickerless wushuang. I used Traxis 50k and lubed exactly as you said, though my cube is far gummier than I'd ever like. Thank's for the response. It's certainly gotten a lot better since my first comment. and thanks for the video
Love the video ! You should do a 4x4 setup /lubing ! Thanks !!!👌👌👌
Fast and controllable is what you said. I thought you liked SLOW and gummy cubes?
My solving style has changed over the years. Controllable is the key word. It's controllable while still being a good not slow speed.
I see! So is your Thunderclap too slow now?
Does this work with weight 4?
Do you practice anything other than 5x5 now? It seems like you make a lot of videos on it (not complaining just cool)
I'm planning to practice a wide variety of events, but 5x5 is my favorite.
cyotheking nice. I love 5x5 too, my top 3 are 3x3-5x5, and 5x5 is probably my favorite
The DNM and wt 5 thing ruined my Aosu I wish I knew it was a reaction between the two and not overlubing because I tried it again and not that is just the natural feel of the plastic.
can i just soak the pieces of my stickerless wushuang in warm, soapy water to clean the pieces?
How long does this process usually take?
I don't always reclean it. Sometimes it just needs extra lube when it wears out. I probably relube once a week. But I have also been solving a few hundred times a week lately.
cyotheking so in other words if you don’t practice as often, the lube lasts like forever lol
I do like 2 5x5 solves a month
I average about 25 seconds on 3x3 with a warrior w and am willing to spend about 20 dollars on a new 3x3. What should I get? I have looked into Yeaxiau pro, Valk, mf3rs2, gts 2, ect.
If it were me personally, GTS 2 or Valk. MFRS2 is good if it's got magnets.
Thank you
Can I use the lubicle black on the core?
Oof now I have to try this and see if it will contend with my.main or be better than kust dumping lubicle speedy and lubicle one
Can I do this with all of my big cubes and if so can I do this to all of my cubes to
I'm not sure this would work well on 6-7. But I haven't tried it.
Alright, do you think it would work on 4x4 and down
Tensions?
Does Lubicle Black work for the core on wushuangs?
Great video helped me a lot
Does a lubicle black work on 5x5?
Just got a cubicle labs Wushaung today.. do u reccomend I do this?
Probably not until the line wears out.
cyotheking des the cubicle lube the core?
Would love to see this for 7x7
More of these videos PLEASE
I tried this, but my 5x5 is still really sluggish
And btw how long does it take u to disassemble and reassemble a 5x5 because I’m honestly kind of apprehensive to disassemble mine because I haven’t disassembled one before and I feel like it would take 2 or 3 hours minimum and be pretty frustrating too. Any thoughts @cyotheking
Takes me maybe 5 minutes to assemble. Disassembly is like 30 seconds.
for a first time its is impossible took me about 5 hours plan your day to do this but worth it
In what tensions though?
Need the 4x4 guide too.
2:00 for piece lubing
i have a really tight 5x5 its like a rubiks brand but a 5x5, i just got traxxas 30k for my mf3rs and thought i could put it in my 5x5 but i cant open my 5x5 can i just slide some layers and put some lube in?
i mean like turning a few layers half way and putting a bit a of lube on the edges
Then tension it. Use a screwdriver to pull off the caps
@@SaneTheBro didn't have a screwdriver at that time but i do now and i already setup the cube and got a yuxin 5x5 which is much better
Godly MangoMC k good
@@SaneTheBro do you know a way to make my cube faster without sacrificing stability?
Would it be good with lubicle black in the coreOr is that stupid?
I haven't tried it. Black is very messy so I haven't bothered with it.
Ok thanks for the reply
Can I use weight 4 with this method ?
Haven't tried it before.
How fast was the solve at the end?
57.66
Does this work well on an MF8 8x8?
Thanks for helping me out!
I wanna try this with the Yuxin 5x5
Vid pls on how to lube 4x4
Thank you very match this video helped me a lot
What should the tensions be like?
I show them in the video, but ultimately I think it's preference. A lot of people have varying opinions on tensions. Mine are on the looser side.
Oh shoot. I forgot I filmed this twice and the first version was the one with tensions.
Lol
Thank you friend!
I need help on yau 5 center
Carlson Choo - Malaysian Origami go to cubeskills website
Jay McNeill has walkthrough a, cubeskills, and I will have a video next week with some.
cyotheking Could you apply those tips you might upload to yau4 centers too?
Eh, not really. Yau for 4x4 is much more straight forward than yau on 5x5.
for 5x5 and up you should use reduction.
make a 4x4 lubing please
Hey Chris! What tensions do you like/use on your 5x5?
Pls reply even I use a WuShuang
I showed them in the video.
Thanks man!
Do u only lube 1 center piece or all 6 of em?
All 6.
what was the solve
Oh this video is good. I only wish that i had some lube to do it with... And a 5x5 that isn't a ShengShou.
2nd love you Chris! You signed my cube at elk cubing
How often do you lube 5x5 as shown?
I've been solving a very extreme amount lately, so sometimes every other week or once a week. Most people won't need to clean it that much.
midge... right
Updated 3x3 setup Tutorial man!
Would the Lubicle Speedy work here?
Haven't tried it!
Those lubes are very different so the feel probably wouldn't be close at all. But it could be good! You'd just want to use less since it's such a runny lube.
cyotheking Another question: Will this work on bigger cubes?
zer0 yes
Can you teach us how to lube our knees?
Basically overlubing but on a 5×5
I wouldn't call it over lubing. The lube is placed pretty strategically. This really isn't that much lube when you consider how many pieces it needs to spread across in a 5x5.
I feel like I'm about to risk it all using SpeedCubeShop's weight 6 lube
All I have to say about this method: 👌
Take a shot each time he says 5x5
I needed that thank chris
