How to Make Your 4x4 Speedcube Amazing!

- In this video I demonstrate my favorite way to lubricate and set up a 4x4, and I go through the assembly process as well. This tutorial applies to almost all 4x4 cubes, although I used the Valk 4 M to demonstrate.

In this video I used three lubricants to set up the 4x4. You'll probably be fine using whatever you have already, but here are the links to buy these lubes if you would like. They're excellent, long-lasting lubricants that are quite useful in setting up your cubes.

What 4x4 do you have? You don’t need this lube exactly, just use what fits your cube. For a wuque, and if you have a fast turning style, use faster lube. Etc

You don’t even have to assemble the corners like a solved cube, they only have to be oriented. They would look like 2x2 corners before pbl.

I got it assembled after about 12 hours…One thing I learnt was never disassemble a 4x4 or any cube bigger than that again😂🙌

thank you so much for this!! i just got my zhilong mini and it felt kinda weird after lubing it (not taking it apart completely). i cleaned the cube and used traxxas 30k and speedy like you showed and its wayyyy better now!

I was literally setting up my 4x4 and saw this vid
1:58 warning this could take up to 3 hours and if you really don’t have the patience it might be fine not to but specifically on the Valk 4 M I strongly do recommend doing it unfortunately.
Wiping off the pieces only took like 15 minutes
UberCuber interesting, I took a lot of effort to wipe down every piece thoroughly and that took like 3 hours.

@@mkay2970 Yeah that would take a while. I honestly think it's fine to just give each piece a 2-3 second wipe down though, and it's certainly not worth the time to do it super thoroughly IMO

Hair silicone is really similar to weight 3 so you can use that

Not sure, it came like that. Only the 25cc bottle looked yellowish though which is kind of weird.

Harshi Kaur if you want to really lube your 4x4 it needs to be disassembled, for upkeep lubing try loosing the tensions evenly

i used dnm-37 instead of silk and it did aosu gts2m amazing!
No spring lubing? This is the only reason I take my big cubes apart since the rest of the cube gets automatically lubed from the "outside" (by distribution). Btw, there's no need to pay attention to the positions of the corner pieces (or any pieces for that matter) or their orientation - just solve the cube after assembly and fix any corner twists if present.

Honestly I still don't notice much of a difference at all since the strong magnets aren't that strong. If I had to choose one, I'd probably go with the strong magnet version.
This is made substantially more difficult with a magnet-less cube. I shouldn't have listened to J-Perm and got the Meilong instead of Little Magic.
What is your camera angle and set up? I really like the angle you have.
Would it work on yuxin black kirin v2? Cuz i don't have a magnetized version..
Did you add the weight 5 to all of the internals, or only the first 2?
How fast can you assemble a 4x4. It takes me about 7 minutes (yes, I actually used to time myself doing this😂

does the core lube actually matter? like, can i use lubicle black or traxxas for the core instead of gravitas?
Tip: If you DON’T have weight 5 lube, don’t disassemble your cube. It will be very hard. I have experienced with my friends broken cube I fixed.(It took a couple hours)

ok, so the only lubes I have are vortex, galaxy, nebula, Martian, and lunar (all from scs), which of these would be good substitutes for the lubes he uses? and which should I order?
so in replacement of lubicle silk, you could probably use something like martian, since they are similar. for the core, vortex since that is it's specific intended use because it is thick. in replace of the angstrom gravitas for the centres, you could try the galaxy. i'm not really sure though, but the vortex is definitely best for the core and martian for pieces

Im usualy doing it layer by layer and it is much easier

I tried to assemble a 4x4 without any lube and it took me 2 hours...
My Valk 4m is so slow:(
6:00 That one step is taking me 2 whole hours..... my hands are sore and burning and the pieces keep falling over and over again... every single time I latch the three on and proceed.. they fall back down... I've checked if there connected correctly (they were).... Don't know if its just the fact that my cube's mechanical hardware is just terribly hard to assemble or if its just the fact that I'm doing something wrong

Hey man, I need your experience with lubing a 4x4. Yesterday I lubed my aosu gts2m for the first time. While I was assembling it I loosened a centre (now I can't find out which one it is) to make thing easier. The result is that the outer layers work really fine, the internal ones feel lubricated just when I turn in a specific orientetion while the other two are louder and a lot scatchier, like there is a lot of friction. I didn't disassemble the core. Do you know what happened and how to fix this? Thanks
Just fully tighten all six and then loosen them as per your liking

I have big thick hands and fingers. So putting those3 internals together is near impossible for me...I just threw away my cube cause it was so difficult for me to do that. I'll just buy anew cube. Fck that.
