How big is Sunnydale is a really good question. We have highschools, a university campus, 43 churches, a zoo, an airport, beach access and i think 12 cemeteries.

Sunnydale having 43 churches tracks. I grew up in a Scottish fishing village and a lot of fishing towns in the area had an inordinate number of churches. One had a crossroads with churches on three of the four sides. You really do get that many churches per capita in towns that see a lot of death.
The rest of the stuff is the writers playing fast and loose with logistics, but the number of churches makes total sense.
Given the mortality rate in Sunnydale, 12 cemeteries probably works out at a population of about 2,000 people.

As much as I respect your decision regarding Angel. I think there are some episodes, particularly in season 1, that are super important for the entire buffy-verse. I don't want to say which, because it would put a big marker on them. But I really think you should post these episodes at least, I'm sure you'll know which ones i'm referring to when you get to them.
I've mentioned that too. I would actually prefer a double shot of Buffy/Angel in the reviews
Agree. I would love the Buffy/Angel double feature. To me one double feature per week of Buffy/Angel is so much more preferable to two single episodes of Buffy only.

All the RUclips and patreon comments being about “you NEED to react to angel”, not many ppl had shown interest in the tier list at the end of s3. However a few ppl have commented this, so maybe she’ll do it on twitch or something one of these days 😊

Agreed, though because of filming Angel too, which wasn’t initially planned, Buffy isn’t necessarily always going to be filmed 2 at a time, so it makes sense from a scheduling and editing perspective. I see it as a way to keep the buffy episodes coming at the same weekly rate, even if it’s in 2 separate videos instead of one 😎❤️

22:28 I always got the impression Xander's line was less a cheap "Lol, Buffy is hawt" line and more because he's always been a character who uses humour as defence mechanism. He needs to undercut a moment of such raw emotional honesty with a least a little humour.
that's how I always took it as. he was literally just joking ( although I kinda doubt he NEVER at least once did that, but for the most part he was just joking with her ). it is a pattern with him and I think its not only a defense mechanism, but also when he's cheering someone up, he jokes to help give them a laugh. its definitely nothing new for Xander and as we'll continue to see.

I like to think that how fast a person wakes up as a Vampire is directly related to how much of the blood of their sire they ingest before dying. If anyone knows what the creators of the show have said they can tell me. But I like my head cannon.
Having Faith in a coma was very useful for the writers. Her not dying meant writers didnt have to deal with a new Slayer being called- unless they wanted that to happen then Faith could just die. Or alternately if they wanted Faith to come back she could just wake up. So the coma meant they were free to go any direction they wanted.

I love Season 4 in general. There are so many transitions to what the new Buffy episode template looks like. This is the season where all the relationship dynamics change for the main characters, especially the big 3. I can’t wait for the reactions to the rest of the episodes.
At first, I was under the impression that we were going to get 1 buffy and 1 Angel per video, but I guess my mind just made up what it wanted to hear, lol.
In any case I'm always confused when reactors watch this episode before City Of. It should really be the other way around. Hoping we at least get to hear your thoughts about Angel.
Another reactor I'm watching right now I think actually perfers Angel to Buffy already by season 1 and we don't get to see it. In anycase, it won't disappoint!

They are exactly not asking any questions, as this is something quite common an occurrence at the Sunnydale College, at least for the last few years.
I'm gonna defend Xander's final line after the hero thing! Yes, he made a crack about 'what is Buffy wearing' but I believe that was to make her smile and doesn't negate the heart melting declaration of 'You're my hero'.
He's the comic relief of the gang; gotta haves a few jokes here and there! :p
Xander as a character had so much potential and you can really see it come through in scenes like that. But the writers stubborn refusal to really let him grow, and him constantly being used either as the comedic relief or as the designated character in a scene to say the unpopular thing (EG being the only one to regularly remember Spike and Angel are century old serial mass murderers and maybe that should be kept in mind) just constantly undercuts him. It's such a shame as the actor does a great job with what hes given.

I think it is also a reflection of his own insecurity. He feels too embarrassed to be serious and do something really heartfelt at this point. So he has to say something dumb and non serious to offset it
@@jspettifer I think its both. one, to get a laugh out of Buffy in his attempts to cheer her up, AND because he felt the need to after saying something so heartfelt. its just who he is.
About Rupert Giles, remember that he was fired from the Watcher's Council and then the whole of Sunnydale High School (with its library) was blown to pieces along with the Mayor.
I hope you like Angel too. I actually like Angel the show a little bit more than Buffy despite loving both.

Just gonna mention this again: there's no actual reason to follow the "reactor's guide", unless it helps with your scheduling I guess, or if you find it annoying to switch shows after every episode. I mean, I guess it doesn't hurt to use the guide, it's just weird to me how people try to force it on every reactor.
There will be some specific episodes of Angel you might want to consider editing for youtube; you'll know them when you see them. :)
There are a couple of episodes that should REALLY be watched in the correct order. A guide won't hurt.

"How big is sunnydale?" Season 1 sunnydale is super small, but apparently the city grew a LOT through the show. They make fun of that occasonaly
I don't think it grew, it just got livelier. Even in season 1 they make mention of huge abandoned factories and office buildings in town from failed business ventures. Sunnydale, to me, seems like a town with a population that's a little too small for its surface area, and people are constantly trying to pump some energy into the town through business ventures or urban planning projects, and they always end up failing or falling into disrepair because the town is haunted and up until recently the mayor was in on it. Then, Buffy comes to town. She kills The Master and The Mayor, the two most powerful demonic leaders in the town, and she defeated Spike, Drusilla, and Angelus, who are basically rock stars of the vampire world. The vampires and demons who are already there start getting more cautious, settling for eating animals more often and only going out hunting for humans when the coast is clear. Demons that once might have been drawn to Sunnydale start avoiding it because they hear it has a slayer there. Suddenly, it becomes a lot safer to walk around downtown at night. Students from the colleges on the outskirts of town who used to stay on-campus most weekends because "downtown is sketchy at night" are suddenly there in droves, spending money and stimulating the economy. People suddenly have enough disposable income to actually USE the airport and the train station and the mall and the movie theater.
The newer the vampire the more personality unless you’re Angel, Drusella and Spike
Oh man, I was hoping to AT LEAST see your reaction to the first episode of Angel. Oh well. I might spring for Patreon eventually 😂 That being said, your instincts are still awesome with this show.
For the record, I would be totally on board with Angel reactions on YT even if it means they would slow down the release of Buffy reactions. Plenty of reaction channels do that, and it seems to work well for them; just take that watch order you have and make it into one Buffyverse playlist. I'll take what I can get, though.

Maybe instead of it being like only single episode reactions you do like 1 episode of Buffy and 1 episode of Angel in 1 video you know instead of 2 episodes of Buffy it’s like one of each in 1 video?? Or not idk.

I think I speak for a pretty sizeable chunk of people when I say that the whole 1 buffy per. week thing has been done to death by every single reactor by now - its really really old hat by now. There is absolutely no reason why a 20+ year old season should take as long to power through as its original airing did.
If people want the full experience.. theres some sacrifices that has to be made then - and its not as if we're talking hundreds of dollars here. I'd even say that Cass has been pretty cool about the whole thing.. going from watching it on her own, to doing uncuts for Patreon with no real editing.. mainly due to the demand for it. But having to slow the whole thing down to appease some sort of puritanical approach to how the Buffyverse "should be done".. uh-uh.

I get it and i support jer choices no matter if she post angel or not on RUclips ,i just wish i could see her reaction but unfortunately i can't pay for Patreon . And i think it's okay to share are opinions and emotions about something only of its not hate or damaging to the person its said too. Some people are saying their unsubscribing and the normie did the same and people insub ,so i think it's just fair to say what we feel and if she continues that way then fine but again people have the right to share their opinions even if it's not the same as yours or many other people only if it's done with consideration of the other person and respect.
You are absolutely entitled to share how you feel, I wouldnt dream of taking that away - but there is an issue here.. one that I've explained elsewhere in the comments as well: people either unable, or unwilling, to pay for the services that is provided on Patreon.. well, they're kinda arguing that those of us able, or willing, are to accept an inferior product.

Well, it needs to be big enough to shoot in. That's a big reason why film and TV characters often have unreasonably huge living spaces - a New York apartment set that actually matched what a group of twentysomethings early in their careers could realistically afford would be so cramped that it'd be a real headache to shoot six-person scenes in there.
I’m currently getting a PhD at UCLA, where much of this season is filmed, and there’s an unofficial tour of the filming locations you can do. A fun thing to do if you’re a Buffy fan in LA or just in town visiting.
And also, yes professors don’t need to know how to teach. Most professors are recruited primarily for their research prowess. Though they would probably have issues getting tenure if they sucked at teaching. Though once they get tenure kind of all bets are off.

For continuity's sake, you may reconsider 3 or 4 Angel episodes being very relevant to your Buffy reactions, no spoilers, but be open to editing a few of them for RUclips, but obviously it's your choice.
Sunday came out to be a fan fave with one episode that brought out the need for wishing she had been a regular. This wonderment includes myself as I am a total Sunday wish it could have been. She was so charismatic with just one appearance that I was left craving more.

@@greigclement9081 apologies for you, but yeah the Angel stuff as BONUS content on top of everything else on Patreon as the raw unedited footage was the compromise to getting ANY Angel reactions in her busy schedule on TOP of BTVS. Patreon obviously isn’t all for everyone, but it saves time and energy and still allows her to stay on track with other things, so a win/win for those who like that show. That is all unrelated to any other channels and trends that cass isn’t aware of, it only pertains to her situation and her channel and her timing constraints (:
Slow down the process of watching Buffy and use the time you had been spending on Buffy/Angel as a split between the two. More content for RUclips is always better than less and trust me when I say, the longer you can spend in this universe the better. Before you know it both series will be done and you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't slow down! :P

The guy who befriends Buffy and gets killed by Sunday is the Mandalorian. I liked Sunday a lot--I am sad she didn't stay around as a mini-big bad, half-season big bad.
She was meant to be the seasons big bad. But she didnt have time. It was meant for her to be set up as a vampire slayer who now is a vampire. That explains why she is so strong and beats buffys ass.
But i like the turn they took, until a certain character died and the real big bad comes to life. Then it slowly starts gettint weaker (storywise) for me.
@@Manu-gf3yl no that is just a fan theory, Joss mentions in the DVD commentary that after he saw how she performed that he wished that he hadn't killed her off since she had potential.

English major here, too! I never had a professor behave like the one who calls out Buffy. Most didn't care what you did or if you were paying attention. The attitude was "If you aren't interested in what I'm offering, that's your loss, not mine."

When we get to this episode, I like to try to guess, knowing what I do of the reactor, whether or not they will edit out Sunday saying.

Again one thing you do notice with BTVS as the Seasons progress is how much slicker the show looks with increased budget and special effects. S3 was damn near perfect, and the loss of The High School Years is hard to accept. However, we all have to grow up and it's an interesting progression for Buffy into adulthood with the pressures that brings. It wasn't a bad opener some great little comedy moments as well. The flying spinning stake at the end when Sunday gets dusted is one of the most iconic shots of the whole series. The phone call needs to be kept in mind where Buffy answers and there seems to be nobody on line. Buffy seems to find it hard to accept that Joyce is using her room as a store room, and that Giles has a private life too. Funny ageist reaction from Buffy to Giles likening him to Hugh Hefner here, and saying 'your very old' and its gross', and also the potential for Buffy and Kathy to drive themselves nuts having to share and get used to each others ways. The show here tries to show that break from adolescent to adult that everyone has to go through. Cass, Angel it's a brilliant show in its own right you will enjoy whatever way you do it.
Nice reaction, Cass! This is a really fun episode, although I for sure miss Cordy, Angel, and Wesley.

Great reaction as usual. Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed that the Angel reactions won't be coming to RUclips. Kinda thought you'd combine episodes of Buffy and Angel into one "series" so to speak, and just have two reactions each week to whichever episodes were next between the two series. I totally get why you're doing it this way and I'll try to get on the Patreon soon... Maybe at some point you'll have time to bring edits of it here. It's pretty much as important a part of the Buffyverse as Buffy itself.

I get not putting an episode of each into one for the youtube uploads but yeah I guess I just expected the schedule to be integrating Angel into Buffy. ofc it would just mean it would take longer to finish the show(s), because you were thinking144 episodes and not 254. When I went to college (1989) I had the same notion, that the nerds would be the norm and there would be so many students motivated to learn and study. Nope. Too many there just to get away from home, drink and party, and happy just passing to stay in.
I thought both professors were a bit extreme. 1st... if you were in a classroom, maybe... but a lecture hall? Who cares if you see students talking to each other, especially on the first day of class. Now Walsh... we got the same sort of speech in our Abnormal Psych class. I teach this for the psych majors, so if you are taking this for fun or an easy grade, find another section taught by someone else. But she shouldn't have that attitude with just an Intro Psych class.
Then again, some of these teachers could be bitter. Feeling they should be teaching at a bigger campus and taking out their frustrations on the students.
Even if I wasn't planning to join your Patreon, I'm glad you're watching Angel. In fact, it's absolutely necessary for you to follow it, as there are certain episodes and plot points you'll need to see in order to make sense of some of what happens on Buffy.
Good question--how big IS Sunnydale? It went from a 1 Starbucks town to having a giant UC system campus. The constantly growing bigness of Sunnydale is kind of annoying.

Sunday is cool. I like her. And I like the actress and how sassy she portrays the character. She is sassy but she is still likable. She did it that way that I was really upset when Buffy killed her. And I was even on Sunday's side during their fight. That's what a good job she did. And I don't like how Buffy acted at the end when she killed her, like she is better than everyone, like this was really easy for her, no, it wasn't, we saw it.

@@cerrobueno Don't you think importal was probably a typo? They meant important, perhaps? Didn't your brain go there at all? Maybe they thought important and vital at the same time and mixed it up. Let's not forget that being mean is ALWAYS just a choice. Also, Cass could react to this particular season of Angel like it's part of Buffy. Most people enjoy watching reactions to the Buffyverse as a whole, but, of course, it'd take a slot from Buffy. "Not having the time" isn't a good argument though, the one about not wanting to delay Buffy reactions because of Angel is.

I head canon that Sunnydale is ever changing as it needs to and no one notices that things weren't there before and/or not there afterwords. I think it fits with the crew building all these places a small town wouldn't and in some cases couldn't have (and definitely not all at once).

I get it, she has a lot of things going on and not enough hours in the day, but frankly I like Angel better than Buffy to begin with and it sucks to only get reactions to half of the story.

You could just treat BUFFY and ANGEL as one big show and upload two episodes of whatever comes next on the watchlist. It wouldn't mean any extra effort. Either way, it's your choice, you do you.
However, please don't watch the HD remaster of BUFFY! It's terrible beyond anything that can be explained spoiler-free. It really recognizably and objectively makes the show worse.

There was a fan theory that Sunday was a previous Slayer turned vampire based on her youth, fighting skills and utter lack of fear of Buffy. It was an intriguing notion, although coming so soon after Faith it's understandable why the show wouldn't go that way. As an occasional recurring character with a slowly revealed backstory it might have worked in S5 or S6.
Her fighting skills aren't that incredible, compared to any of the notable vampires. They're barely above every single vampire that somehow rises knowing fighting skills. The point was made that she's not that tough, but seems trouble mostly from Buffy's self doubt, which is the theme of the episode. Youth, because it's a college campus group of vampires. If you have a group of vampires in an old folks home, they're going to be old. Group of vampires down by the docks, they're going to be a lot of sailor vampires. Bunch of Vampires on Wall Street, expect them to be professional business suit vampires. Utter lack of fear of Buffy........... Again pretty much every single vampire she runs across (except the unusual one in the beginning). How many vampires have we seen run from Buffy in 3 seasons? Very few. How many low level mooks still thought they were going to take out a Slayer even if they got dusted in 2 seconds?
