This man was a genius. This could have been filmed last week, or 30 years ago, or in the year 2078. It makes sense in every recent former decade. Brilliant.
and this i heard and read somewhere…. he draws his concepts/storyline first (The Gorl who Lived in a tree, etc)…and the designs and composition of the collection was evocative of what got out of the idea of the show… show/presentation first is thought of..and the designs follows…that is why his shows and the way his clothes are constructed is very different from the previous shows…and he approached design by looking at making pieces on its the sides..not frontal or the back…..
We really lost a great deal when he died, didn't we? In his short career as a designer, he brought us so much creativity, so many stories and feelings and whether we were customers or not, we saw it, we felt it and we shared with him. Can you imagine where he would have gone if he continued to work? It's so sad to think of losing him as a person, but also his unparalleled genius.
I agree with you all. When he was alive, I bought his heels and perfumes, but he said it again and again in Interviews, if he is not anymore around his house is not him. He said it in his own words . Without me, there is no Alexander mcqueen. This is why I never buy anymore from them
Even though most of his shows had a dark atmosphere, a somewhat twisted sense of humor or simply an unhibited dialogue with death, one could sense the joy of creation through his work, a true genius indeed.
I'm not a technology hater by any means at all, but there is something magnificent and incomparable about seeing a fashion show video were NO ONE is holding up a fucking phone. Everyone is watching, simply watching the magic unfold before their eyes.
When Tim Burton, Edgar Allen Poe, and Queen Elizabeth finished design school this is their story. I miss you with so much heaviness in my heart Mr. McQeen😢
Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2008 1. The Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra - Come As You Are 2. Public Image Ltd - Flowers of Romance 3. Ilai - Illuminate 4. Vitamin String Quartet - Rape Me 5. Vitamin String Quartet - Smells Like Tenn Spirit 6. John Eliot Gardiner -Handel: Coronation Anthems: I. Zadok the Priest HWV 258 7. The Smiths - This Charming Man
Such creativity and an absolute genius! It’s so sad that he has died. But I think all the stress having to create collection after collection really got to him. I think it’s important for the fashion industry to take care of the designers mental health and models too. I remember seeing his exhibition at the v and a. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing it was unreal. The best exhibition I have ever seen! I could go round again.
as usual with McQueen collections, this collection finds a wonderful juxtaposition between old and new as well as strong and fragile. if only he was still here designing for us.
Music by an artist who left this world far too soon--a theme that repeats far too often in history, as we're all too aware. 7:22 I saw a photo of Salma Hayek wearing that one, so I guess she owns it. I love this show sooooooo much. It's been one of the greatest pleasures in my life watching it over and over again over the years. RIP Maestro McQueen.
Damn, the final look is like the Empress of all empires, kingdoms and lands of all history mix in one beautiful creature, he was such a genius. God save McQueen
It is actually a reference to Bram Stocker's Dracula. It's when Keanu Reeves meets Dracula inside the castle and Dracula leads him towards the dinning room. He is wearing something like that and holds a light lamp.
8:29 She is so damn beautiful! I don't mean just the model. I mean the dress especially, and the model's expression, the way she carries herself, the gait, the jewelry, the hairstyle, the lighting, the minimal makeup, the accompanying music...aesthetics at its highest. The HQ is very nice, but the sharp contrast loses a lot of detail of the clothing because of the black on black in a lot of cases, but with this dress, the sharp contrast really reveals how beautiful it is. Thank you!
The tree was by Christo which is the tree in his home in the highlands as the show progresses the execution of the clothes is perfection he was a master the one True master who runs circles around the garbage in the runways today. Saw these in person and the show does not do them justice.
OMG!!Many people understand what beauty is,but only few people can create true beauty. This is not fashion, ether cloth,Lee create the pure spirits.RIP.Thanks.
Iconic 🔥 🏰 🔥 still have dreams of this show...so many great faces here, too! I'll never forget seeing Alice Burdeu doing her thing ❤ the soundtrack, too....incredible !!!!
Ah, those glorious days when designers expressed their thoughts and models gracefully strolled, resembling elegant mannequins. Their arms held a subtle restraint, yet conveyed a sense of emotion-a walk that never overshadowed the clothing. Oh, how nostalgic those days are...
I don't really understand what's going on with the soundtrack. Is this a recording of the soundtrack at the actual event, or is it the same songs as the event layered onto the video? I've watched different versions of this show before watching this one. The most effective one musically is the one posted by Yukikoandthe, especially soon after the 6 minute mark where the music changes and it starts the long transition into the moment of the dark stage followed by the parade of regalia. In that version, the transition is accomplished with the very strong regal Classical choral music that starts at the 10:00 mark here. When was that music used at the event? Its sad if it wasn't used for the transition as it was in the other version. It was so wonderfully timed and perfectly powerful in that version. In that version, you can also hear the applause of the audience during the last song as all the models reenter the stage, and the timing of the song is a little different from this version, so it seems like that version has the actual soundtrack at the moment. Unfortunately, the audio on that version doesn't start until the 40 second mark--which is a great loss--nice to hear it here--and that video suffers with video artifacts at a couple of moments. I wish there was a version with the other's musical arrangement, but complete from the start, in uncorrupted HQ like this one, but with more mid-tone detail. I LOVE this show. It deserves a perfected documentation. McQueen is now a great hero for me. I've just recently discovered him here at YT. RIP, Alexander. You were great.
tryptala actually this is the original soundtrack of the real fashion show and alexander mcqueen talked about this show in an interview and he said he was inspired by a 600 yr oak in his backyard and created the context of a girl who lives in a tree( i'm assuming she's some sort of tree spirit or other) who falls in love with a prince, and marries him to become the queen of the kingdom - hence the british colonial/indian style, over exuberant jewels and the handel's coronation mass soundtrack. i'm with you on the start though, why a. mcq decided to put a violin version of nirvana is beyond me, but the entire soundtrack isn't all irrelevant to the show
Unfortunately the Yukikoandthe video of this show is gone from all my saves so I suppose he's been kicked off You Tube, but you're right. His was the only accurate upload around but there used to be many other You Tubers who had also uploaded the genuine show with the actual soundtrack, users like the Fashion Channel that had the show broken up into 3 parts because that's when the videos couldn't be more than 5 minutes long. At one point all were deleted by You Tube probably for copyright reasons. I heard that after McQueen died, all the music was taken down from the videos of his shows on his website so only You Tubers who downloaded from his site before then have the real McCoy. It looked like Yukikoandthe taped the show from his tv because the screen was so small, and I'll bet he muted the sound the first 40 seconds to fool the censors.
I JUST WANA POINT OUT THAT THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK, COZ I WATCHED THIS SHOW EVERY NIGHT WHEN IT WAS FIRST CAME OUT...AND THE ORIGINAL ONES WERE MORE APPORPERIATE
I was sceptic about figure in cubism but black part of this show improve my vision and attitude. It's a pity that man with robots on stage has no HD video on youtube.
This man was a genius.

Have you seen fashion lately its so boring, even his own house
@@blackvirgo09 ikr it’s just like the street wear for example y2k that trend sucks
@@shelbygray2214 there making money that all its about, the modern customer would never understand these type of shows
I agree with you all. When he was alive, I bought his heels and perfumes, but he said it again and again in Interviews, if he is not anymore around his house is not him. He said it in his own words . Without me, there is no Alexander mcqueen. This is why I never buy anymore from them

I fear we will never see the likes of such genius again, in our time or another. Brave, honest and totally unforgettable.
RIP Lee....
Can't believe it's been a decade. One of the most beautiful shows I've ever watched.
McQueen's designs were fine art in the most gorgeous sense.
Every time I see his shows they take my breath away. What a tremendous loss.
I'm not a technology hater by any means at all, but there is something magnificent and incomparable about seeing a fashion show video were NO ONE is holding up a fucking phone. Everyone is watching, simply watching the magic unfold before their eyes.
This is my favorite collection of Alexander McQueen! The collection was so royal, amazing, attractive... Miss him...
My favorite of all time 😍😍😍
When Tim Burton, Edgar Allen Poe, and Queen Elizabeth finished design school this is their story. I miss you with so much heaviness in my heart Mr. McQeen😢

His garments were so unique. There really wasn’t anyone like him.
McQueen mucho más que moda, era un espectáculo en todo su esplendor. ¡Larga vida a sus pasarelas y a sus colecciones!
as usual with McQueen collections, this collection finds a wonderful juxtaposition between old and new as well as strong and fragile. if only he was still here designing for us.

Thanks for posting the McQueen shows especially. His work is the definition of Fashion As Art.
Alucinante, y es de los desfiles que usan la mejor música. Un grande , sin dudas. Abrazos y gracias por compartir❤🎉

I disagree, the final outfit for me typifies McQueen at his worst, coming perilously close to costume design, rather than fashion.
Is the first song a violin version of come as you are by nirvana?
Yes
Thank you for uploading this with the original soundtrack
Still amuses me no matter how many time I watch it. Unlike many others make me fall asleep, LOVE❤️
