Ramen is more than just a memory from college past... especially when it took me 57 hours to make and cost the low, low price of $464. These ancient cooking methods better make this tasty!

use flour at the stretching stage to reduce sticking :)
I also wonder what the noodles would've looked like if he tried the method that involves stretching the whole piece of dough at once, folding it in half, stretching again, and repeating multiple times before slicing off the ends of the dough.
@@hanank3574 stretching is what separate men from boys, I dare to say its the hardest part of making noodles by hand. if you don't know how to do it, you might as well just roll it really thin and cut into stripes and stretch a bit, just don't forget to flour it so they don't stick.
Also to make longer noodles you can inter-lace them between your fingers.

This show really helps with the boredom of quarantine
Read a book, learn new skills
Do something that doesn't force me to sound like a 50 years old
@@hylbertvonmayhem6562 So, what you're trying to purport is that wisdom or any form of experience comes exclusively from people old? While *you* are at it, pick up a book on Psychology and discover that learning begins not long after an organism is born; This process continues until they die. Children who go through hardship can exhibit traits usually only present in people as much as two or three times their age, otherwise expressed or understood as maturity. Boredom occurs when an organism has little or no motivation to do anything. The corona virus quarantine seems to be a great motivator for people to focus on tasks they might have been avoiding...for others, to learn to discipline themselves to be better individuals. Otherwise, yes. There is literally nothing to do.... Unless you account for the vast reservoir of learning, entertainment and otherwise engaging activities that the internet has to offer.
As for this video, I feel like it's aimed at people who enjoy junk food. If you could garden, then there's no point in making ramen when you can make deliciously seasoned salads, soups and sandwiches. Those chickens lay eggs too, meaning even more recipes become available. Ramen is trash.

Third this video was aimed at his viewers, who watch this ongoing series, and at people who like the particular food.

.. you know this is how he makes his living right? Lol
You got yourself a good deal for that ramen noodles
Just 2 things that you can do to improve your noodles, the ingredients are fine but you need to use less water while making the dough. The dough should be formed by little pieces that are barely hydrates and you fuse them spreading the little humidity you have through "playing" with it, that makes it develop a glutenous texture that makes the dough stretchy, and you must do that specially when you have a coarse flour like the one you have. The other part is don't use oil to avoid making the dough stick to the table when stretching it, use dry flour or they will catch too much humidity.
This is *E x t r e m e* minute ramen.

A noodle/pasta tree is what you place your stretched noodles on to dry. It keeps them from sticking together and you can leave them there until the are ready to cook. Kind of like a coat hanger for noodles.

My guess is the noodles fell apart a little because they weren't kneaded enough. Pasta & noodles from scratch takes a lot of gluten formation through pounding and stretching a very tough dough.

Only change I could see that could possibly help would be leaving the noodles in dough form while relaxing them and rolling them from the relaxed dough ball, seems easier to get a uniform width and length that way.
hey man! have you considered using the fold and pull technique for the noodles? You double the strands with each fold, they're uniform, and you can get thousands of strands per batch. Great video.

SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
You should try making them with eggs and doing thick cut as in wide but knees them to be thinner as well as keeping your dough in four to prevent hem from merging and boil them in water
Cool video! Maybe hanging the noodles from a high spot and letting gravity stretch very long thin noodles. Still may be difficult but with enough height you may only need a strand or two
This dood made noodles completely from scratch and I'm out here too lazy to toast bread
This was directed at me and I'm deeply upset
i'm loving the primitive cooking videos!
I never really noticed how much technology and industrial produced ingredients are so much better than if u made it from scratch
Dudes amazing. 2-3 second video on how to press your own olive oil moves on using ancient techniques / tools. Makes so many things look easy and always with no fanfare. Next up… whips up a plan to solve world hunger in 2-3 seconds and casually moves on. You simply don’t know until you try.
after that try knotting both ends together and use a wooden dowel mount to help the stretching process
Hey love your videos keep doing what you do much love
You look depressed. Its okay man, it kinda sucks that the channel fell off, you have such unique content! Keep it up.
You really need to start using a rocket style stove/fire/heating element for your projects (cooking, smelting, etc.). The idea of draft combustion has been around for a very long time, and when the need for better heat control, as well as flame-over, focus, etc.....it will help a ton with some of the cooking you do.
That bronze cooking knife does a really good job!
Can you try the Dr. Stone method of instant noodles by freezing then putting it on a vacuum?
Hey Andy do you think you can do an in depth look at the ceramics since the vivid situation has you working mostly by yourself I feel like it’s a good subject
Was kind of expecting the pull and fold method. If you've ever seen someone make dragons beard candy by hand, its a very similar process, and puts less strain on one point in the noodles.
Roll the dough thinner rub some flour on it and fold on itself like a paper fan before cutting thinly into strips. Also I don't know if you let the dough rest after kneading for 30 min to develop gluten.
Its relaxing to watch
actually looks really good!
Use the hemp that’s growing to make fibers for clothes or baskets
With the oil you can make, the caustic potash from your soap episode, and the foreshot of the distillation of moonshine, you can make diesel that can be put in a truck.
Just an idea.
I like how you make a modern twist to an Ancient invention.
Noodles are typically made with an alkaline solution to improve their texture most commonly baked baking soda which I think you already have available. If you try this again or just want to make homemade noodles you should add it.
He can also flour the noodle abit to prevent sticking
I'm now convinced you are the real world equivelent of Senku from Dr Stone, all you need to complete it would be dyed green spikey hair and a leather labcoat with E=mc2 on it :D
