Halo was groundbreaking for its raw simplicity, why can't they see that? In H1-H3, you know that the other guy can only strafe, crouch, jump, strong side, GHANDI HOP...etc, which are just combinations of raw input that is already in the game, and is completely controlled by the player. Any kind of button combo that calls up a preset motion or animation is breaking out of that raw control, and is also like an ace in the hole. Here's the additional fluff that replaces skilled button input and decisions: Thrust pack forward or sideways - safety net for strafe or over-extension into no cover Sliding is an automated crouch and escape method for over-extension Climbing is just a noob-friendly safety net for bad jumps Jetpacks replace jumping entirely (didn't see any in gameplay, is it in H5?) Sprint, thruster pack, or any new form of evade is a safety net evade and combines/replaces strongside I'm not sure what would replace Ghandi hopping (not trying to brown nose, I'm serious) All this fluff is in addition to traditional skills, which produces too many variables for it to come down to raw skill, and reward good decisions and placement.
i strongly agree with your points on raw input, well said. they are trying to bring in cod players if i had to guess why they are adding these gameplay elements. im glad to see they reduced the auto aim though.
I guess they want more cod players to come in....OR it's that whoever is designing and making this game is a Bunch of NOOBS at this game! Lol they think it's a good idea for all these special abilities because their bad hahaha
I have said it before, I will say it again. The problem with ALL of this is that these abilities are spawned with. 343 should implement a system whereby these abilities are changed into power-ups, disperse them around the maps, limited use, more strategy, their value increases, everyones happier
That's one of my main issues with them, is that they are "default". I've never been opposed to change in Halo, just change that affects the core gameplay, and imo, these abilities do just that. Once we all get our hands on the beta, it would be much easier and more accurate to assess that very thing. I'm just personally not a fan of them. The last 2 games with them affected the core gameplay quite a bit, imo, which was one big reason the populations of both games went down rather quickly. They just didn't feel...natural...in a Halo environment, again, by default. Like you said, as pickups, I could see that actually being a nice addition.
The problem with that though is that then potentially someone could pick up a rocket launcher, thrust pack and an overshield all at once and be the most overpowered mofo on Earth. Everyone starting with them is better, as long as they're all the same abilities that people start with
I disagree, I still think that Halo should always be about rewarding strategic skill, be it map control, weapon prowess, etc... If you are able to get all 3 power-ups then god bless you, and that's that. Besides, how many times do you run into someone with rocks, overshield, and invisibility at one time? I don't know that I ever have. The maps don't really allow for that to occur on more than freak occasions. I am calling for the traditional Halo system of map based power-ups and well designed maps that don't allow for blatant abuse.
I agree. They are keeping the game "just traditional enough" to keep the veterans spending while they use it for a different crowd. On the one hand I understand that they are in a difficult situation - a separate review video discussed that the skill gap was preventing newcomers from standing a chance so their players would slowly drain over time. So they are trying to change the game style to support twitch shooters. They could have gone about this differently though. Instead of changing the game all they needed to do was keep people of roughly equal skills playing against each other. Even in social slayer there could be a "hidden" rating for each person that matches them up with other players of the same "hidden" rating. So they get balanced games and since the rating is hidden they wont even realize that they are noobish.
WTF NO do not say Couter Strike has a form of sprint..... PLUS Counter Strike is a tactical shooter not an arena shooter! Arena shooters do not have sprint. Sprint does not belong in halo!!!
The Halo 5 gameplay is just laughable. The continued use of sprint is just ass even if they try and nerf it. It just shouldn't be included in Halo. The inclusion of ADS, thrust and different abilities is also stupid and also shouldn't be included. This will be just as bad as Halo 4. Halo has gone downhill with the continuation of the series after H3. In Reach, Bungie tried something new to revamp the Halo franchise, but it failed. 343 decided to add onto the Reach formula that didn't work and they created the abomination called Halo 4. Even if people play the hell out of the H5 beta and say the game sucks, 343 won't drastically change the game, so the game will be doomed before launch. I just don't get why developers have to try and progress a game just for the sake of progress even if it ruins a game. Why not revert backwards from Halo 4 and try to make another H2 or H3 style game? If that were to happen, a large population will play it for years to come and the population won't dwindle 1 year after release like H4 did. If I were to play H5 early and talk to the developers, I would probably come off as an ahole because I would say their game is horrid and I would rather pluck my ballhair 1 by 1 than play their garbage unskilled game. I could go on about how this game will be terrible, but I'd rather sum up this essay by just stating that why try and fix something that's absolutely not broken.
***** Well, you obviously didn't comprehend the main point of my comment. I'm not talking about MCC at all, I'm talking about the continuation of the Halo games after "Halo" 4. MCC is will be amazing when they fix it and everything, but the main point I am trying to make was why is 343i still trying to make this type of Halo game work? It has failed twice! 343i is still trying to cater to other players from different games such as CoD. By making a game that differs from the original Halo when adding unnecessary features like sprint and abilities, it disbands the original Halo community and lowers the population significantly. If 343i cared about making a good Halo game at all, they would stop the gimmick of adding all the BS and revert back to the arena style, gunskill shooter Halo was. If they don't, well... Halo 5 will fail like Halo 4 did, the population of the game will drop, and everyone will go play MCC except for the bad players that are terrible at MCC.
BulletCases I can go into the mechanics and why they are different. But I'll just put this pic here: imgur.com/nYO1Jur the graphics and visuals look like h4. But please take a step back and look at the mechanics and factors of each game and you will see they are different. And far from CoD.
Scott Lussier the game is so bad, a year on and It's painfully obvious that we need a functioning classic halo. The days of legends like yourself are gone, I enjoyed to watch you guys so much. Halo 5 is boring to play and boring to watch.
Nice one Gandhi, but I can't see Halo 5 being good. Some of the things you were talking about gave me a headache to think about. 343 is getting way too complex with what they are adding, and all of this, "if you do this, it leads to this" bullshit seems like overkill. Halo needs simplicity to succeed. Simple as that.
iCHAWY Me too because for the online experience to remain enjoyable over a sustained period of time it'll need a core population which likes spending time with the game.
Im buzzing for Halo 5! The first time i saw it i hated it, but now 343 has explained everything from the gameplay elements, I'm loving it! It feels like Halo 2 did back in the day, looks like I'm going to have a lot of fun creating good memories in Halo 5! :)
Even when it's actually balanced? In case you don't remember, your shields won't come back when you sprint. You can't just run away from duels like in H4, and even if you manage to save your sorry ass, 95% of the times your shields will be so low you'll become a easy kill for anyone walking by you. In other words sprinting like a pussy is going to get you punished.
A hater's gotta hate. In all honesty, people just need to chill-out with their irrational quick judgments and stupidity as it only serves to make the Halo community look idiotic. Halo 5: Guardians is looking fantastic because 343i is focusing on the right thing; bringing the franchise back to its roots of being a true arena competitive shooter -- balanced starts and controlling the map's power positions and weapons. If you want a re-skinned version of classic Halo enjoy the MCC.
People are going to get mad, unless they basically re- release halo 2 or 3 , whatever game the pro's play , with new maps maybe a new game mode. But that will probably never happen.
You, Walshy, and Ninja talk so much fucking sense! I love it. People are just so turned off by Halo 4 that they won't give 5 a chance unfortunately. From what I experienced, it's still got the 343 feel to it, but it's much better than Halo 4 in terms of gun-play which is all that matters. Also having no stupid loadouts and ordinance drops is just perfect.
As long as it ships with ranks and everything is balanced then fuck yeah. I'll admit I was very skeptical at first but the more I watch the gameplay, the more I like it.
Compromise For Sprint + Thrust: In order to keep the premise behind the new sprint/shield dynamic valid, the sprint + thrust scenario should result in not letting your shields recharge the same way as sprint. They are both supposed movement abilities enabled by the spartan armor. The spartan armor cannot have random fluctuations. -"The Timeless One"
Thanks Gandhi, really good to hear your side of things instead of the usual trash coming from the community at the moment. I'll be looking forward to playing this next month with an open mind.
For every element added to the game that promotes some kind of boost (sprint, thruster, movement speed) there should be an equal / opposite punishing element.
i play competitive cod and holes we have to jump through to make some cod titles competitive are ridicules, but we support the game and get on with it, and for that we are rewarded by the developers. you guys (halo community) need to move on, 343 is not killing halo, you are, make best with what you have which tbh is more than you deserve and just fuckin roll with it.
@@tulio.guitar lmao and now im over here like shiit halo looking like the place to be haha, but tbh im done with all that now, i sweat out some valorant from time to time and ill play halo casually, looks like a good year for halo tho
@@lewiss9711 hahaha that's cool man, valorant is an amazing game and while I think that h5 has the best multiplayer, infinite is making me doubt that, it's an amazing time to be a halo fan, hope you join the party c:
No, it doesn't look good like Halo 1 or Halo 2, and no, it doesn't have that "classic" Halo gameplay, but the Halo series needs a revamp. Does that make it a better competitive game? Of course not, but to make money game developers need to change games and make them new and shiny. This game, considering how many changes they made, looks good to me. It doesn't look amazing, but it looks like a fun game, and I think it could be a good competitive title. We just have to wait until the beta comes out and feel how it plays
c00lhand208 Yeah, I think we could delay the inevitable until Halo 5. And, to be honest, a change will be kind of nice. I've been playing classic Halo for years and years, and I love it, but to have something new would be kind of refreshing
Personally I would like it if they tied thrusters to your shields so it also balances it when you've been shot and are trying to get away with thrusters, so if you keep thrusting you need to keep waiting for your shields to recharge (but there would also be a waiting time for thrusting so we'll need to see in the beta if the timing of thrust will be the same timing of your shield recharge). Along with that I would also appreciate it if they made it so thrusters, charge and ground pound were all connected as one and if you use one there would be different waiting times, e.g. when you thrust it takes 4 seconds to either thrust, charge or ground pound and when you use charge you have to wait 8 seconds to wait to either thrust, charge or ground pound and when you ground pound you have to wait 12 seconds to thrust, charge or ground pound (something like that). With that being said I would personally love it if 343i made it so that you could only sprint if your shields and health are at 100% so there would be less sprinting in gunfights, but that could break map flow (we'll just have to see in the beta). But other than that I'm loving the changes 343i are doing with Halo 5, but just as a nitpick, I would find it extremely cool if they could add dual wielding and somehow balance it out with the other weapons (and with the smart scope for dual wielding I would just see it as a zoom with no reticle and as soon as you start firing your weapons it knocks you out of the scope, like with the original zoom). And if they could add button glitches from Halo 2 in Halo 5 as an actually feature I would be so happy. But then again I don't mind if these additions/features aren't in the game, but I do feel like all the things I mentioned in the first paragraph need to be added/changed by 343i from what I've SEEN so far. Btw the ranks sound fucking amazing for Halo 5 with 7 divisions and the top 2 divisions will be the top 200 players in Halo! WHAT?!?!?! It sounds fucking awesome. AND IT'S ALSO OUT IN THE BETA!!! I can't wait! :D
Yeah I think it'll be great if everyone goes into this with an open mind. H4 was bad because of randomness. Halo core gameplay (weapon timing & map control) will come into play with a few additives to make the game feel new. I'm ready to play and try it out.
Hey all you thrill seeking Halo gamer's! Over at 343 industries we made some game breaking yet action packed changes to that classic Halo you have so desperately desired since Halo 3. It would be priceless to have young Gandhi back during the Carbon days watch this video right now he would literally faint thinking about sprint and thruster packs in future halos lol
I also want to hear what you think about Kampy joining FaZe. I feel like Halo montages possibly being periodically uploaded to a channel with nearly 3 million subscribers would have some impact on the community, especially if they try to recruit more Halo players.
Having all these different elements in the game opens the game up to more ways of being imbalanced, and 343i are not really known so far for being quick at patching things, let alone testing them and then patching them. I see Halo 5 being terrible until 6-12 months after release when they finally balance the game. You all gonna say they have 12 month till release to balance these elements, but when the game comes out people will break the meta like they do on everygame and cause an imbalance that requires patching, it happens in every game at top level of E-Sports.
I'm sure 343i are hoping the Beta can serve as an opportunity to get a head start on refining any balance issues the game may have such as tweaks to the weapons and player mechanics (ie spartan abilities), but you may be right that a finalized form of balance might occur after the game is released -- all we can do is play the beta as much as possible and provide coherent detailed feedback to the developers.
Please explain in detail how every player having the exact same movement set, with a four second cool down on your thruster ability can be avoided since by design, everyone is able to do them and counter them.
Halo is a simple game at ts core. I know a lot of people and pros say we need to inovate our game to make it new and fresh. I agree 100% but we need to mechanics that don't Change the map and how to play the game. For example sliding is a good idea somewhat and also climbing or whatever it's called. But things like sprint changes the maps and gameplay and the developer has to make larger maps which make more work for the developer and for the players to enjoy it. Jut put new mechanics that don't change the game at its core
Cods ads and halos ads is two different thing, cod ads is if u aim and get shot u are still zoom in and in halo if u are aiming and got shot u force to pull to hip fire so ads is useless in mid fire fight
No disrespect but anything talking about this terrible idea for a game should have a lot more dislikes. Dissapointing to say the least when people think this is ok for Halo...
If they keep making the same game copies won't sell to the "new generation" which = no online population which = the death of Halo. You're an ignorant pos.
Clipen That's going a bit overboard, and while I do fully understand what you mean, the past few Halos that didn't just make the same game, did not do well in the fans mind, mostly hardcore fans mind you. I'm not saying they don't need change either, but they have to do the right changes. When you make changes that affect core gameplay, and not "enhance" it, your going to kill your hardcore audience, which cancels out any new fans they may make by making those changes. It's certainly not an easy thing to do, especially with a game series that has been so successful with a specific formula, that has developed such a hardcore fanbase around that formula.
People just need to chill with their irrational quick judgments and stupidity as it only serves to make the Halo community look idiotic. The game is looking fantastic because 343i is focusing on the right thing; bringing the franchise back to its roots of being a true arena competitive shooter -- balanced starts and controlling the map's power positions and weapons.
Either have sprint or have thrust, having both available seems too much, because theyre both defensive tools. keep one with the shield penalty and golden
Second time watching this video and I just realised that clamber and ground and pound may clash with Ghandi hopping and crouch jumping. I like crouch jumping, some jumps are possible but you have to practise them. So clamber essentially removes a skill gap. As for some ground pound reticle popping up while I'm in a br fight trying to make my head bounce like a yo-yo, that's definitely a no-no.
My problem with the Smart Scope is how, one, it doesn't make a lick of sense lore-wise, and two, it just seems like 343's latest way to try and trick the CoD player base into playing Halo. If it functions in the same exact way to zooming in has done, then it really does nothing else but make the game APPEAR as if it plays like any other modern shooter.
I just want BR start. Please put that in Halo 6, no climbing, I'll deal, I'll deal with sprint if they keep the shield regenerate thing. But we need more game types and maps.
You forgot to mention spectator mode, I mean, among some of the shit that has me concerned (sprint again, crazy abilities) at least there's spectator mode thats fucking sick.
I'm honestly not a Halo fan and never really have been (Keep in mind, before I get hate messages, I never had an orignal xbox when I was a kid or live so I wasn't around for the initial hype) but I got MCC because of my friends wanting me to and I absolutely love it! It feels so good to play and is very solid. I have this oldschool feeling when I play it that just makes it a ton of fun. I didn't like Halo 4 at all (I got it to better my aim for CoD) so I don't think I'll touch Halo 5. I'll stick to MCC's Halo 1, 2, and 3 :)
St louIE SUNS v2 I'm not worried for the eSports scene. They're focusing on the right thing; bringing the franchise back to its roots of being a true arena competitive shooter -- balanced starts and controlling the map's power positions and weapons. I just hope they're also equally focusing on providing support for big team arena battles which would include fun vehicular combat -- another major staple of the franchise.
But still damn they could have left the same core with the updated graphics, this tier ranking system to make it crack addicting, and the smart scope and I guarantee it would have sold just as fine.
i saw the spray test it only makes a difference for automatic weapons the BR and DMR and Pistol shoot just as good but I doubt the automatic weapons can strafe as good with the smart scope I don;t mind ADSing for other shit. I actually really like the BR without zoom with reddot no zoom instead
I cant figure out if this video is about halo, because real halo doesnt have sprint, AA's, a fuck ton of utility weapons nor aim down sights. Are you sure you can stil call it halo? I would rebrand it, just to stop ruining halo's name to the newer generations.
"If you're turned off by the smart scope...then you're just stupid cause you don't want the game to look good." Um what lol? I'm playing Halo 5 but I'm not thinking of it as Halo cause its so damn different its no longer Halo. Guess thats why they put "Halo 5: Guardians" and not just "Halo 5".
Halo 4.5! Can't wait to play the beta for day then cotemplate eating a fucking bullet. I don't need sprint. I don't need everyone spawning with armor abilities. See you fucks on MCC whenever they get their shit together. Hope everyone has a good day. Peace and Love to all.
Yeah definitely, no one complains about equipment. I mean some of it is kind of annoying, but like get over, plus if you play mlg, the radar jammer don't really mean shit. Flame grenades making a comeback would be cool too :)
It does not sound like it will still be a possible game play mechanic at this time, but with clambering (aka climbing) included it may be a bit irrelevant. I stress "a bit" because clambering doesn't all together mean crouch jumping is irrelevant; it only means its a lot less necessary as a mechanic then it would have been without clambering.
I want a Halo which is basically like the old one Halo 3 / 2. The physics and the aiming with the sniper and br are way better back then, they should put put that ADS srsly just leave it how it was. The sprint think is I think good but ADS...
Well, instead of beign an idiot you might have noticed that it was irony on your comment. Because I actually have my own optinion about halo 5 after this video get along with it. Your comment was totally out of place " go fuck yourself" Wow you must be such a fucking badass WOW. And it was an ARby n the Chief reference. After all... you sir, can go fuck yourself :)
Alex lorenz You do realize that the Smart Scope mechanic isn't the same aim down the sight (ADS) mechanic found in Call of Duty, Battlefield, Destiny, Far Cry, Crysis, or an assortment of other first person shooters, right? Those ADS mechanics drastically alter the weapon's accuracy, the players movement and aim speeds, plus include finch effects. Halo's Smart Scope has none of those things; it basically functions exactly in the same manner as the traditional scope mechanic but presents it in a much more realistic and pleasing aesthetic look plus adds a level of so-called "scope" capability to every weapon even those without magnification which makes perfect sense thematic wise. People just need to chill with their irrational quick judgments and stupidity as it only serves to make the Halo community look idiotic. Also, as far as desiring a Halo game that's basically Halo 2 or 3 well you got that with the MCC so enjoy.
What are your thoughts on the Breakout gametype? Lethul mentioned he and other pros told 343 to add an objective to it instead of just being slayer. You share that opinion?
You could add a non-slayer based objective to that game-type but the superseding premise of the game is still player elimination so all a non-slayer based objective would do is present another means to end a round. Also, to be clear I'm all for that, but I just wanted to let you know that the objective would likely be a secondary option to winning a round verses the slayer aspect.
c00lhand208 Oh yeah, for sure I understand that. I just mentioned it because Lethul said he felt the gametype a bit campy which the slayer focus kind of promotes. I don't even know what the objective could be, honestly. Just needs to be something that forces movement.
nah, my idea is like what they they tried to do in halo 4 but a lot more punishing; You can't sprint when or while you're when being shot, if you're already sprinting then the first shot 1/2s your sprint speed and the second cancels out sprint entirely. This would also cancel out gandhi's momentum problem and you don't have to worry so much about annoying complicated fixes. I think that in this way the tackle thing wouldn't even need balancing because if you can pull it off before someone cancels out your sprint and kills you, then really you deserve it.
angers karin if the charge is too easy then all the kiddies are going to be sprinting around trying to do it none stop. Sprinting up to people and meeleeing them was the most annoying thing in h4, that and people with sticky starts.
Yeeea, being able to thrust into sprint is stupid. There definitely needs to be some kind of penalty. If straight up sprinting has a penalty, then thrusting needs one too. I did get a semi stiffy when you started talking about the auto aim being more like CE's. That should be pretty fucking awesome.
sprint needs further changes imo, it still brings poopyness to the game even with tht change, everything else didnt bother me and im glad descope is back
BoySamusMetroid agreed!
Garrett Holmes Can you translate your stupid gibberish into a comment or question that I can understand. For example: WTF do you mean by "It was the wrong move period."? Do you mean it was the wrong move of 343i to try bringing the franchise back to its arena based roots of having balanced starts and orienting the gameplay around controlling the map's power positions and weapons?
c00lhand208 It's obvious that sprint and new abilities are not good for halo. There's a reason why the game died back in 2010... it's not rocket science
I'm sure it will given how focused they are around producing a highly successful eSports title. I just hope they still remember to focus equally on big team game play too; I love me some vehicular combat to switch it up every now and then.
Make a classic type of halo with, in game buys like counterstrike where you can get different skins yadayadayada and people will eat that shit up. Halo 5 will crash just like Halo 4 and Reach.
Why can't the movement mechanics be simple? You can Sprint, but if you are shot you stop sprinting. As for the thruster packs, I really don't like it. Feels like 'power creep'.
I really don't care what people have to say about "halo" 5 if cs can make the same game after ten years and still have an active community around 200k so can halo. didn't halo 4 sell around 1m? 3 months it was down to 25k. I'm not buying halo 5 for it to die in 1 month.
CORLIXER Halo has always had scoping, which obviously isn't the same as ADS, but just similar to where you have another way of looking at your opponent to kill them. Biggest difference between the 2, which is why a lot of Halo players don't want ADS, is how in other games ADS increases accuracy, making hip fire terrible. Halo was built on basically the exact opposite, where a lot of the fighting is via "hip fire". I'm kind of right there with you, in that I think a FPS without ADS is dumb. But for something like Halo, which has been built around not having it, it shouldn't have it. It would be a HUGE core gameplay mechanic change to do something like that. The scoping it has is plenty good enough, imo, for ADS fans. It still works similar enough to ADS that people who like ADS should be fine using it.
Y2JEH ***** You do realize that the Smart Scope mechanic isn't the same aim down the sight (ADS) mechanic found in Call of Duty, Battlefield, Destiny, Far Cry, Crysis, or an assortment of other first person shooters, right? I'm okay, with new engines. After all, Halo has for every game as far as I know, ran off of a new engine with every installement, EVEN with the spin-offs like ODST and Reach. And we want that, because that's what makes a Halo game, different engines, but same play-styles from Day 1. With SOME....SOME NEW features, like hijacking, and special grenades, and armor abilities. Because COD plays off of the same engine for the next three games. And most of the time, changes the gameplay tactics entirely. But what 343 has done with Halo 5....is almost unacceptable. They're adding the "fast-paced Titanfall/COD AW" game features that the current trend wants. This isn't a Halo game anymore, if they slapped a new title on it, then it would be whatever the fuck that game would be called. The only reason I would buy this game, is if Bungie came back and said, "You're done, 343. You have officially killed our masterpiece. We thought you had a chance with MCC and just re-amping our games, but even you managed to fuck that up." "Why the hell couldn't you learn from us, instead of trying to remake a Halo game from scratch?" I might buy this for the story, but that's it.
I do not give a single shit about if it's gonna be a good game itself, i want to play halo and halo 5 is nowhere close to halo. gg just realise halo died when reach was released
You people talk so much shit. Halo isnt goigng to stay the same like cod. Its going to change. You guys should deal with the fact that it will change or dont play it at all. Stay back to your original halogames
Here's the additional fluff that replaces skilled button input and decisions:
Thrust pack forward or sideways - safety net for strafe or over-extension into no cover
Sliding is an automated crouch and escape method for over-extension
Climbing is just a noob-friendly safety net for bad jumps
Jetpacks replace jumping entirely (didn't see any in gameplay, is it in H5?)
Sprint, thruster pack, or any new form of evade is a safety net evade and combines/replaces strongside
I'm not sure what would replace Ghandi hopping (not trying to brown nose, I'm serious)
All this fluff is in addition to traditional skills, which produces too many variables for it to come down to raw skill, and reward good decisions and placement.
i completely agree with you. In H1-H3 it was pretty much your raw skill that dictated your outcome.
i strongly agree with your points on raw input, well said. they are trying to bring in cod players if i had to guess why they are adding these gameplay elements. im glad to see they reduced the auto aim though.
Synethesia Corpse me too. auto aim is cancer
I guess they want more cod players to come in....OR it's that whoever is designing and making this game is a Bunch of NOOBS at this game! Lol they think it's a good idea for all these special abilities because their bad hahaha
100 percent the best way to put it man
I have said it before, I will say it again.
Sprint should be like de scoping that way you can't run away period. You get shot and it forces you out of sprint
or a stun/movement penalty just like in Counter-Strike.
BulletCases well let's talk. I'm curious to see why you think this game is going to utterly fail. I can assure you, its NOT like halo 4.
spike9985 How is it NOT like Halo 4? Have you seen the gameplay?
BulletCases I can go into the mechanics and why they are different. But I'll just put this pic here: imgur.com/nYO1Jur the graphics and visuals look like h4. But please take a step back and look at the mechanics and factors of each game and you will see they are different. And far from CoD.
Thruster abilities and sprint? Yeah... that shouldn't be included in Halo.
Scott Lussier , wasn't the shield not charging while sprinting your idea from a video you did previously?
Yessir.
Scott Lussier the game is so bad, a year on and It's painfully obvious that we need a functioning classic halo. The days of legends like yourself are gone, I enjoyed to watch you guys so much. Halo 5 is boring to play and boring to watch.
The game is going to be fine.
exactly.
c00lhand208 it wasnt lol
This comment didn't age well
Nice one Gandhi, but I can't see Halo 5 being good. Some of the things you were talking about gave me a headache to think about. 343 is getting way too complex with what they are adding, and all of this, "if you do this, it leads to this" bullshit seems like overkill. Halo needs simplicity to succeed. Simple as that.
Sounds like the MCC will satisfy your requirements then.
c00lhand208 Yep, it has. I hope Halo 5 proves me wrong.
iCHAWY Me too because for the online experience to remain enjoyable over a sustained period of time it'll need a core population which likes spending time with the game.
Im buzzing for Halo 5! The first time i saw it i hated it, but now 343 has explained everything from the gameplay elements, I'm loving it! It feels like Halo 2 did back in the day, looks like I'm going to have a lot of fun creating good memories in Halo 5! :)
I agree with everything you said. Though I'm not a fan of the climbing. It means the death of crouch jump. Still pumped for it though.
Oh shit, I didn't even think of that!
It’s halo, don’t have thrust, don’t have sprint. Solved
I'd love to play it, but it has sprint. I refuse to play a "Halo" with sprint. As soon as that's gone I'll play. Fuck sprint.
looks like youre not gonna be playing it then
Even when it's actually balanced?
Kevin D its not armor abilities
Facepalm, this isn't 2001. Move on and try the beta out and see how it works.
Looks amazing, can't wait for the beta
yup
People are going to get mad, unless they basically re- release halo 2 or 3 , whatever game the pro's play , with new maps maybe a new game mode. But that will probably never happen.
You, Walshy, and Ninja talk so much fucking sense! I love it. People are just so turned off by Halo 4 that they won't give 5 a chance unfortunately. From what I experienced, it's still got the 343 feel to it, but it's much better than Halo 4 in terms of gun-play which is all that matters. Also having no stupid loadouts and ordinance drops is just perfect.
yeah the loadout system was simply terrible in Halo 4. I hated it.
Halo 5 is going to be trash. It's not going to have a high skill ceiling.
As long as it ships with ranks and everything is balanced then fuck yeah. I'll admit I was very skeptical at first but the more I watch the gameplay, the more I like it.
Compromise For Sprint + Thrust:
In order to keep the premise behind the new sprint/shield dynamic valid, the sprint + thrust scenario should result in not letting your shields recharge the same way as sprint.
Damn, this comment aged incredibly well man
@@tulio.guitar lmao and now im over here like shiit halo looking like the place to be haha, but tbh im done with all that now, i sweat out some valorant from time to time and ill play halo casually, looks like a good year for halo tho
@@lewiss9711 hahaha that's cool man, valorant is an amazing game and while I think that h5 has the best multiplayer, infinite is making me doubt that, it's an amazing time to be a halo fan, hope you join the party c:
@@tulio.guitar fuck yeah im getting it on release my guy, ill be the dude force pushing people off the map haha
Glad to hear the optimism unlike so many others.
c00lhand208 Yeah, I think we could delay the inevitable until Halo 5. And, to be honest, a change will be kind of nice. I've been playing classic Halo for years and years, and I love it, but to have something new would be kind of refreshing
yes positivity!
BorgMuffinMan You already have that "new" Halo gameplay via Halo 4, and its numbers speak for itself
yeah call of destiny 5 black ops 3 guardians is pretty fun
Yeah I think it'll be great if everyone goes into this with an open mind. H4 was bad because of randomness. Halo core gameplay (weapon timing & map control) will come into play with a few additives to make the game feel new. I'm ready to play and try it out.
Well put good sir, well put.
c00lhand208 but mostly it did so let the guy open it if the prize doent seem as the one dark past.
Recurring Agony everyone will have the same abilities. That right there is balanced. No more cod like individual load outs like we saw in halo 4
They have fucking a whole year to fix this shit up, what are you smoking?
"I ain't no fake bitch, dog..."
LOL
Halo is a simple game at ts core. I know a lot of people and pros say we need to inovate our game to make it new and fresh. I agree 100% but we need to mechanics that don't Change the map and how to play the game. For example sliding is a good idea somewhat and also climbing or whatever it's called. But things like sprint changes the maps and gameplay and the developer has to make larger maps which make more work for the developer and for the players to enjoy it. Jut put new mechanics that don't change the game at its core
So LT is to zoom in? gg.
Different button layouts if you want.
Greenskull was playing on Recon which has zoom on right thumbstick...
So... Controller mapping. Not a new concept.
Omega Actual do you see how long it takes to zoom in?
Less than half a second. The same for the zooming animation to complete in Halos 1, 2, 3, and Reach. Your point sir?
Omega Actual you really think it's the same? prayers
Make thruster pack use 1/4 of your shields, you can't thruster if you have no shields
I watched the whole advertising to support you bra...good Shyt on the vids
The game is looking fantastic because 343i is focusing on the right thing; bringing the franchise back to its roots of being a true arena competitive shooter -- balanced starts and controlling the map's power positions and weapons.
c00lhand208 if it's not broke don't fix it idioooo
Garrett Holmes Hence enjoy your time playing the MCC dumbass.
Either have sprint or have thrust, having both available seems too much, because theyre both defensive tools.
keep one with the shield penalty and golden
So they've basically taken out the Gandhi hop?
It does sound like it; at this time.
But we need more game types and maps.
ouv sprint is fine thruster and spartan charge and ground pound is dumb
Idk how I feel about this.... I'm just gonna give it time
Amazing Vlog as always
Can't wait to give the Beta a fair crack.
You forgot to mention spectator mode, I mean, among some of the shit that has me concerned (sprint again, crazy abilities) at least there's spectator mode thats fucking sick.
Wasted opportunity to tell them their game is trash. Shame.
But it's not.
+CMDR_Kai Gaming this
GHANDI WHERE IS HALO 2010 HISTORY?
I'm honestly not a Halo fan and never really have been (Keep in mind, before I get hate messages, I never had an orignal xbox when I was a kid or live so I wasn't around for the initial hype) but I got MCC because of my friends wanting me to and I absolutely love it! It feels so good to play and is very solid. I have this oldschool feeling when I play it that just makes it a ton of fun. I didn't like Halo 4 at all (I got it to better my aim for CoD) so I don't think I'll touch Halo 5. I'll stick to MCC's Halo 1, 2, and 3 :)
Best way to fix sprint? Get rid of it.
Rip halo
"It's Atlanta, man"
Haha love it.
U need to work at 343 so halo 5 won't suck
Ghostayame is there so we're all good
And strongside just got added to
Hopefully they will help #GandhiHopOrWeRiot
St louIE SUNS v2 and Neighbor and Dersky
St louIE SUNS v2 I'm not worried for the eSports scene. They're focusing on the right thing; bringing the franchise back to its roots of being a true arena competitive shooter -- balanced starts and controlling the map's power positions and weapons. I just hope they're also equally focusing on providing support for big team arena battles which would include fun vehicular combat -- another major staple of the franchise.
But still damn they could have left the same core with the updated graphics, this tier ranking system to make it crack addicting, and the smart scope and I guarantee it would have sold just as fine.
i think halo 5 actually looks sick and we should give it a chance you dont know what the game will play like be4 u play it
i saw the spray test it only makes a difference for automatic weapons the BR and DMR and Pistol shoot just as good but I doubt the automatic weapons can strafe as good with the smart scope I don;t mind ADSing for other shit. I actually really like the BR without zoom with reddot no zoom instead
If they have to add something to punish you when you sprint, why is it in the game in the first place?
I cant figure out if this video is about halo, because real halo doesnt have sprint, AA's, a fuck ton of utility weapons nor aim down sights.
Are you sure you can stil call it halo?
I would rebrand it, just to stop ruining halo's name to the newer generations.
With the smart scope do you get a zoom in at all? That's my only worry
i would say take out sprint and leave thruster pack but its always the same
I still prefer zooming in from smart scope
Just take out shoulder charge, reduce the thrust and the game will be perfect.
It sounds good, and the problems it has I think can be resolved with the beta.
WAIT WHAT!!! SO DOES THAT MEAN NO MORE GANDHI HOPPING?!!!!?!?!?!?!
They should just do what counter strike does just new maps and a bunch of updates don't ruin the game competitively by changing a lot
I want him to call it climbing too. Clambering sounds wierd
Yo, they should bring back equipment from h3 like the power drain and the bubble shield for example.
Since they've removed armour abilities, it'd be cool to have pick ups like that.
Yeah definitely, no one complains about equipment. I mean some of it is kind of annoying, but like get over, plus if you play mlg, the radar jammer don't really mean shit. Flame grenades making a comeback would be cool too :)
***** i loved the flame grenades! And the flame thrower!
can we crouch jump still and thank you so much for your honesty
no, there is no crouching mid air
It does not sound like it will still be a possible game play mechanic at this time, but with clambering (aka climbing) included it may be a bit irrelevant. I stress "a bit" because clambering doesn't all together mean crouch jumping is irrelevant; it only means its a lot less necessary as a mechanic then it would have been without clambering.
5:08 haha 15 seconds of hope
Sprint is the worst thing that ever happened to FPSs
how do you give them feed back on the beta when it comes out?
I want a Halo which is basically like the old one Halo 3 / 2. The physics and the aiming with the sniper and br are way better back then, they should put put that ADS srsly just leave it how it was. The sprint think is I think good but ADS...
no u
Yes, but the way you approached the conversation had the feeling like you would.
Just needs to be something that forces movement.
belucheez Touché
I think that sprint needs more balancing, and I have a plan.
It sounds fine to me so far, but the Beta should allow us to make a better judgement of that.
Peoples should take more domage as they sprint that would be good.
nah, my idea is like what they they tried to do in halo 4 but a lot more punishing; You can't sprint when or while you're when being shot, if you're already sprinting then the first shot 1/2s your sprint speed and the second cancels out sprint entirely. This would also cancel out gandhi's momentum problem and you don't have to worry so much about annoying complicated fixes. I think that in this way the tackle thing wouldn't even need balancing because if you can pull it off before someone cancels out your sprint and kills you, then really you deserve it.
glenn yarwood It good but if geting shot turn sprint off it waist the charge ability
angers karin if the charge is too easy then all the kiddies are going to be sprinting around trying to do it none stop. Sprinting up to people and meeleeing them was the most annoying thing in h4, that and people with sticky starts.
From what I have seen it looks like movement speed is decreased while in "smart scope" is this true?
Nope
Halo is turning Cod.. Sprint? ADS? Taking assets from other games beyond Cod itself.. Idk how I feel about it anymore! D:<
Shields don't recharge while Sprinting. Smart Scope functions like Halo's Zoom but with the ADS Aesthetic...
Calm down on the blow dude you are twitching and freaking out. Lol
remember its only the beta
sprint needs further changes imo, it still brings poopyness to the game even with tht change, everything else didnt bother me and im glad descope is back
Does thrust have a cool down or something?
4 secs
if they got rid of all the new crap and just put in no sprint BRs same armor as H2 same maps and old gameplay I would always play halo
Nobody should play the beta. Let the series die at this point. It's beyond criminal what #343bola did to the series. We want a real company pls
You are beyond stupid.
BoySamusMetroid agreed!
People just need to chill with their irrational quick judgments and stupidity as it only serves to make the Halo community look idiotic. c00lhand208 Lmao arena shooter. It was the wrong move period.
There's a reason why the game died back in 2010... it's not rocket science
fuuuuuck i hope halo 5 will be a competitive game
Lol Halo 4 Sold way more than 1mil... It broke the record of selling the most games in the first 24 hours. In the Halo series at least
#343bola
I just wanna hear your voice
played halo casually for a bit back then, what's the problem with ads. personally a game without ads i think is dumb jmo though
ADS is a cod/battlefield/destiny mechanic.
***** maybe so, but once i started playing games where i could ads i never looked back. just a mechanic that i really like.
The bk is real lol
You're an idiot bungie will never make another halo game cause their contract expired with Microsoft
Rodrique Bennett lol, why don't you go look at Halo 5, mate? Bungie has been helping 343 with their shitty ass development.
You make me hate life. #343bola
I do not give a single shit about if it's gonna be a good game itself, i want to play halo and halo 5 is nowhere close to halo. gg just realise halo died when reach was released
Scott getting rich off dat paid reviewer $$$ /sarcasm
everyone should already know halo 5 is going to be garbage. MCC is our only hope, or was since 343 are a bunch of bums
The gameplay looks soooo bad imo....H2A is so much better as far as I can tell. I guess beta will prove it
You people talk so much shit. Halo isnt goigng to stay the same like cod. Its going to change. You guys should deal with the fact that it will change or dont play it at all. Stay back to your original halogames
