These ocean tragedies are a thing we all remember and anybody who has to go through the terror of being sucked down with a shipbor hearing screams that make you go insane. I truly am sorry for anyone who has family members losing their lives on any maritime disaster.
Thank you for this video. I’m from liverpool but love to visit Southampton. I’ve not yet had the chance to visit dock 44, but definitely plan to next time I visit.
Yes she was built in Northern Ireland...Southampton just provided the crew and over 500 of the city's young people died in the tragedy. Southampton has never forgotten that...you'll find memorials all over the city to commemorate their sad passing.
There's security at the main gates but if there's a cruise liner at the terminal you can say you are picking someone up and park in the short stay car park. Not sure if you can get aorund to the dockside.
@@mox888 hi thanks for quick response , I will give that a go , many years ago I did manage to get onto the doc yard but things are quite different now 😟
Indeed they were. If you were a member of The Southampton Camera Club many years ago you could get a Dock Pass that would allow unfettered access. Sadly now with obvious security issues access is much tighter.
@@andrewlawless9796I don't think you'd be able to stroll around with a video camera without prior permission from ABP (Associate British Ports). Have a word with them: www.abports.co.uk/news-and-media/latest-news/

Jepp, if you're an american and drive a british car like a Mini, it probably rolls at this dock onto a Roro-Freighter headed to Boston.
