  • It's time to trim my cute sun conure's beak. Fawkes's beak is constantly growing and we groom it by putting him in a towel and scratching his beak. He also has lots of toys in his cage to maintain a healthy sized beak. As a sun conure, Fawkes has a very fast beak growth and it's important for us to keep his beak looking fresh for us and the camera by grooming it.

That's removable? Gotta try that on my Pine now!

We sometimes do it, because he doesn’t have another parrot to do it for him. He also has toys to groom his beak with.

@@ourfriendlyanimals oh, Pine doesn't have any other parrot either, and we're running out of toys (she loves destroying them)

@@YummyBarbecue6308 Yeah. Try to get the wood separate and put it together yourself. It’s cheaper. Another option is getting wood and building toys yourself. Just make sure that it’s chemical free and the type of wood isn’t poisonous.

@@ourfriendlyanimals yeah, we are currently trying to make a toy for Pine. But because it's flooding we currently can't

Whoa at first I thought you were actually going to *clip* his beak because of overgrowth LOL

Haha. No. That would be extreme. He just has some on the sides.

That can't be healthy for you to be able to pull pieces of the beak off. Stop feeding seeds

This has nothing to do with seeds, which we give him as a small portion of the diet. The beak sheds occasionally. He has toys to help with the shedding, but we like to help him sometimes. Birds preen each other like this.
