Had an uncle, Milton Touchet, who died in '08 and after his wake and his Catholic mass we gathered in the cemetery of the Catholic church in Erath, La for his burial. I never experienced this before but a man sang a French song for my uncle at his casket. Didn't know the words of the song since I don't speak French but I later learned that the man who sang the French song was the one & only D. L. Menard. Obviously they both knew each other and it was a great honor for my uncle to be sang a song at his burial by the great Cajun musician D. L. Menard.

Two pretty girls (women) , dressed up, looking pretty, dancing, smiling, singing, and the camera operator acting like he can’t even see them

What is so fantastic about this entire video is the fact that Mr. Menard's musicians are young folks. Young folks to keep the values and traditions of South Louisiane going!!

Just found this in 2019. Can’t stop watching this. The purity of young and old playing music together so carefree in a backyard is just so beautiful.

I traveled around the USA in 1982 for a year, and the nicest warmest people I met were in Louisiana and Mississippi. Kiaora from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Cajun singers have a damn unique voice. I can't get enough, how come in Mexico we didn't have this!!!!!! sound like we could probably collaborate on something.

Went to Mr. Menard's house in 1992 or so to interview him for a project on Louisiana history. He was very kind, and sang for us live in his living room!

I am of Acadian descent from Canada. The Cajuns are our cousins. D.L. Menard's 'Back Door' sounds so much like Acadian music. All the same musical instruments are used. August 15 is the Acadian National Festival. The Cajuns are just as much a part of it.
