As a Scot...I think this music is one of the most lovely haunting melodies I've ever heard.....I am used to singing traditional Scottish and Irish...this makes me want to get up and glide across a pine dance floor...Vive la Cajun....
I stumbled across this video searching for french music of south Louisiana. I saw Lacassine in the post and it awoke many fond memories. When the video started I knew I hit the spot. In the mid 70s, I had two very good friends in Houston who carried me there to spend a weekend avec son amis. It was one of the best times I had ever had. They introduced me to their music, their food and their goodness. We returned many times. I remember a place where we camped called Whiskey Chitter. I loved those people. I am so lucky to have come across this video! And I will share it now. Bon temps!
Thank You for keeping this music alive!! My Daddy was raised in Bogalusa. I’m 1/2 Cajun and I was dancing from 3yrs old till 71. Keep it coming. God bless you!
This is one of my favorite renditions of this song. Beautifully unique. Many great dances at Randol’s over the years and grateful for all the good times there.
My favorite part of the music is seeing an old couple who have been dancing partners for decades step out at a festival or party and enjoy the music and dance for everyone.
This reminds me of going to Randol's to eat and dancing with my grandmother in between pots of crawfish. I miss those times so much. Thanks for posting.
The opening notes of the accordion did it for me. You can tell the music and the playing of the accordion comes from the heart. The melody is so pretty it just makes you smile, and take your girl on the dance floor. Thanks man!
I really love this song it reminds me of when my dad passed away He loved this song it was so good to hear a song that my dad loved God bless you Lee...
Was stationed in Biloxi, MS from 69-70 (Hurricane Camille) and spent many weekends in New Orleans with a cajun friend. Learned one thing for sure, if this music doesn't get you up and moving, you are dead!!! Thank you Lee for bringing back great memories of a beautiful city and the world's most hospitable people. Keep playing forever.
I have dreamed of cajun music for all my life.. being hispanic it gets my feet to tapping and makes me want to dance all night.. love your voice and the the smoothness of it. Love the music you play.. I will keep listining as long as you keep playing...ladytarot
I've always said that Hispanic and Cajun people were very closely related. Having had many Hispanic friends throughout life I learned how close our cultures were, lots of music, drinking, and great food were the center of both! Thank you for this comment, keep the cultures alive.
@@anonymousistre3248 - having grown up in Louisiana, I always felt the same. Loved the music that my Hispanic friends from Texas introduced me to. So similar to our awesome Cajun music.
You are an amazing singer and accordion player, sir! I have introduced your music to my English 1 students here in Brownsville, Texas (come on down!) on the border by the sea! I absolutely love your singing and playing. God bless you!
Thanks for the kind words. We played at that festival years back. Great time. We would love to go back. Nothing in the plans now but hopefully we can make it back there one day.
From a Nova Scotia Acadian brother, "I love this stuff"... music that was born from despair and tragedy. It's no wonder our culture has survived. The spirit of Acadian and Cajun music is enough to lift anyone's spirit. Bien faite Lee!!!!!!

Smooth singing! Country music has Jim Reeves and Cajun music has Lee Benoit. All band members skilled. I appreciate that I can actually hear the bass notes your wife is playing. Bass is too often drowned out. Your dancers are clearly enjoying and appreciating the smooth vocals and perfect beat which is easy to keep.
This music is the happiest music on earth and my favorite by far of anything I have heard. If ever you need a lift up tune this music will lift your spirits. The music seems to go in different directions all at one time. Love it. Love everything Cajun! !
I've got my favorites who I believe represent Cajun music to its finest. They are; Jo El Sonnier, Doug Kershaw, The Savoy Family and Lee Benoit. Keep doing it Folks. You,re Great!
Une musique qui fait oublier ses soucis. Merci beaucoup d'avoir posté cette vidéo. Salutations chalereuses de Pologne à tous ceux qui écoutent du cajun!

Every time I come back to watch this, I get stuck on it again. Have to watch them all, over & over & over. You're still the best, Lee. Not giving up hope on making it down there to meet you all. : )
I've listened to numerous different versions of this song, and I keep coming back to this one. Lee, your accordion playing is so tight and active. The rhythm section is keeping perfect time-triangle included. Keeping time like that isn't NOT as easy as it looks. As a percussionist from birth, I know this. This song is like the most beautiful metronome I've ever heard. I recently purchased an accordion just to start from scratch and try, one day in the distance future, to attempt this classic the way you do it. Thank you for sharing this!
I salute you from the north of México , I recognize your acordeon playing in the very same root than our " norteño" music , our heritage from the French invasion , glad to hear your marvelouse music
Mr.miaumiau I think all the old cultures used the accordion and fiddle. I lived in Mexico for awhile and love the music. I can see the similarities too.
I live in georgia but I really love that cajun music. Good music, good people and good times. Would love to be there with you all. Great job Lee. Love your music.
Cajun music, like Zydeco, Delta Blues and Bluegrass, to name a few, know no borders or boundaries. It's a music that speaks to the soul. If you don't hear it, do you even have a soul?
Lee, you are unreal! That voice - smoooooth as silk, and it goes perfectly with your accordion. I want a c.d. of your music tomorrow! I'll be up all night now playing everything I can find of you playing and singing - for real! Keep it up man. Don't really remember anyone singing cajun songs with such "on the note" smoothness. Thanks!!

Anyone else enjoying the happy couples dancing as much as I am right now? Zydeco is just happy music. I taught my babies how to keep time to Zydeco. Both of them are musicians. My oldest remembers me tapping on the console of the pickup truck. His little brother remembers me picking him up to "dance" with him in the kitchen. Music is a second language for them.
