    "Zydeco a Pas Sale" performed by Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys (www.jefferybroussard.com ) in concert at the Institute of Musical Traditions (www.imtfolk.org), Rockville, Maryland, USA on May 21, 2012.
    Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys features the accordion mastery and soulful vocals of front man Jeffery Broussard, from the legendary band, Zydeco Force. The band delivers great, pack-the-floor renditions of Creole classics as well as their own brand of contemporary Zydeco.
    Whether he is playing a festival stage in front of thousands of dancers, a small theater of seated patrons, giving an interview, teaching a lesson or playing at a trailride, his warmth, love of the music, and talent shine. Jeffery Broussard is well, the real deal. Dedicated to preserving and promoting the Creole culture and traditional Zydeco music, Jeffery plays with passion and commitment to carry on his daddy's legacy.
    Sound: Art Isaacs, Dave Richardson, Dave Eisner, Stuart Barkley

      I was watching a video of a guy in the UK driving his car to work and listening to some tunes (absolutely nothing else happened).
      I commented on one of the tunes and some guy replied 'That's Zydeco' and I thought 'No. That's Racey (as in the band)'.
      So I Googled Zydeco and ended up here.
      Then I saw your comment and thought it was a play on words (acadian/accordion?)
      I've only been out of bed an hour and I've already learnt 2 new things today (and stuffed my head full of decent tunes).
      Gotta love that internet! 🤗

      You can thank your ancestors as Britain won the war with France and established British North America.
      The French Canadiens ... living in Acadia (in what is now New Brunswick), we're given the choice of staying and become British subjects or move to French Louisiana.
      Acadian was eventually shortened to Cadian...then Cajun. Unfortunately for the relocated Acadians, France sold Louisiana to the fledgling United States of America.

    • @dinojay8410
      @dinojay8410 Год назад +4

      @BillVol ... a province (or state) of Canada...but it wasn't in existence at the time of the Acadian exodus ... they were part of New France ... which lost the war to the Brits on the Plains of Abraham (Québec City) ... they were given the choice of swearing allegiance to the British Crown or be resettled in Louisiana ... the remaining remnant of France in North America.

      Yeah, we "get down" to this music in southern Louisiana. "Wed pick up the fiddle and pick up the bow, kick off our shoes and throw em on the flo(or), damced in the kitchen til the mornin light. That was our lLouisiana Saturday night . "..
      We used to least ways.
      Every weekend was family get togethers with the best food in the world (alot of folks say ) , and the family get togethers turned into parties. And everybody was welcome, it was good times back then. Before the govs ruined everything with their education, tek, enter net web , tell lie vision , and entertainment. The evil so and sos - they ruin and destroy everything good . Like the devil/ rebellion they are a part of.

    • @sexxxcblac
      @sexxxcblac 3 года назад +3

      @@mavjimbo That's a German lie hash up by racist not wanting to give blacks credit for starting all music genres. The Germans, Polish stole what you call polka from blacks and called it Polka ( Polish ) as their own.
      Just like the Mexicans copied New Orleans Brass bands and called it BANDA as their own.
      Its nothing new, Europeans stole classical music from blacks and called it their own even to the whitewashing of cats like Mozart & Bethoven . Think I'm kidding ? Google it.
      In America blacks started rock & roll as a matter of fact EVERY form of music in America was started by blacks. Cumbias stolen from Cuba, I could go on & on.
      This is how you can tell if someone stole an idea from someone and claimed it as there own.....if that person doesn't come up with a better idea later or a different idea that was as great as the one they claim than the original idea was stolen. That's how you can tell.
      Have the Germans came up with a different genre of music that took the world by storm ? No.
      Have the Polish came up with a different genre of music that has took the world by storm ? No.
      Have the Europeans came up with a different genre of music that has took the world by storm ? No
      Have the Mexicans came up with a different genre of music that has took the world by storm ? No

    Zydeco is pure talent. Sadly, such talent will never receive the honor, or recognition, it so rightly deserves. What you witness in this video is sheer happiness, and a love of life. The Acadians of Louisiana are a simple, loving, talented people who find joy in most everything. They would "give you the shirt of their back," or "their last dollar." They also will serve up the best damn food you will ever eat.

    I was in New Orleans in 1996 during Spring break. First I ever heard zydeco music. Fell in love then, big fan ever since

    This is so good it makes you move if you want to or not. My family and I saw an amazing band that sounded just like this down on bourbon st in New Orleans and hot damn they were going for about 2 hours playing so hard they nearly dropped but what a performance it was.

      The music originated in the displaced arcadians who were sent to the swamp lands of Louisiana. French by origin they brought this amazing sound to the world .

    I’m a true northerner. Ohio as it comes. But I feel the heat and humidity in this. I smell the peppers and crawfish. I see the barefoot dancing. But I can also see the many pages taken from the music. Everyone from CCR to GG Allin. Rock and roll will never die

    Chicago born and raised on big band and Rock & Roll. Been all over the US and enjoyed local music everywhere. every kind. Nothing makes me smile and be glad to be alive like this music. Think about it. In the hall with some lovely girl and trying to keep up and having the time of your life. I have been to New Orleans and the jazz is unbelievable but I couldn't find any Zydeco. Must not be for the tourists.

      Unfortunately, Jazz Fest, Inc. is more interested in big names, so the Louisiana artists have been pushed to the smaller stages or just don't play it anymore. Go west and slightly north from New Orleans to hear the real thing, both Cajun and Zydeco.
