Thanks, we have a few on deck. We just decided to document this one since it's a long time project and deserves some attention. We've built lots of big turbo VW's but I always love driving this one. Good luck with your project.
Man Im so glad your vid popped up in my recommendations today. Very interested in this swap for my Built Mk5. As the MK5 r32 drivetrain pretty much bolts right in the interesting bit is going to be the wiring. Nice work and I can't wait to see the next vid!

Yes, it seems like the spare tire well is pushed back further on them. On the MK4's the spare tire well is in the same location and the rear pan is extended so it's completely different.
@@COMotorsports good luck on your project i had bought an audi a3 8p awd with a blow motor for my swap made getting parts really easy, im almost done im just in the middle of changing alot of bushings and mounts and stuff and have to wire up the haldex
@@jaydelledonne Thanks use as well, thise one will be back on the ground this week. Not doing the tranmission yet as we're doing a gear set in it, so I won't be doing the transmission until that arives. At least it will be mobile again.
@@COMotorsports can i ask what gear set options there are for these? Im gonna be using a stock a3 dsg trans but i feel like my big turbo is gonna have my changing transmissions often, is it worth just getting upgraded clutch packs?
@@jaydelledonne All comes down to which DSG you're using. The late model DSG's are a lot better than the old. Also this one is not going DSG, this is staying with the 6spd.
What rear subframe are you guys using for the subframe. I'm definitely following this project, this is something I want to do in the future. Knowing what parts you guys are sourcing would be great. This is really cool all the searching I've done. No one has actually documented an awd conversion on video.
@@COMotorsports oh ok I wasn't aware what AWD system you were using my apologies, I kind of came in halfway through the build, I have the chance to buy the kit for a good price and was going to grab it and slowly take my time with the install, I do appreciate you getting back to me so thank you, I'll be hitting the subscribe button
There's one laying on the floor right beside me at the end. It'only looks "beefier" because it's made out of aluminum so it's bigger. Strength is not a concern between the two. However the aluminum subframe is lighter. Since this specific swap all came out of a MK5 R32... that's what we're using for this one. The other one is for one of my projects. ;)
Like I have a question I have an 08 GTA and I was wondering can you take the rear out of another vehicle to slap it on to this vehicle what would you recommend
There are other things to consider when trying to use that older stuff. It may work, but we're not sure, as other parts of that drivetrain can be slightly different. The 2006+ A3 stuff will work though.
@@COMotorsports you don't have to cut out the tire well unless you want to run a stock exhaust. here's a thread where it's been done forums.fourtitude.com/showthread.php?3455053-mk5-Jetta-Golf-4motion-conversion-findings/page16
Price all comes down to how much you get the swap vehicle for, what the shop rate is where you're getting it done, and what vehicle you're starting with. Lots of factors.
Cool project! We're working on a similar project to release soon!

It's mentioned in the first video.
AWD conversión for MK3 o MK2 🙏🙏🙏
What car did you steal the diff and the transfer case off of working on a built motor and awed swap on my mk5 jetta
There are a few options we cover in the series. This one was a golf r. The white mk6 AWD video was A3 stuff.
What about re-aligning the awd subframe
Not sure I follow what you're asking.
@@COMotorsports so when you pull out the original rear subframe to swap out for the awd subframe how do you align it on installation.
It bolts right in place. Regular alignment once done then good to go.

This might be a stupid question but would a mk6 R AWD system fit on a mk5 GTI?

Should be described in the videos.
6:24 what rear end is that ?
The details should be in both the first and second video.
Would this be the same sort of swap if you wanted to awd a mk5 rabbit?
Exact same
Would rear subframe fit from audi a3 quattro 2003 to mk5 golf?
