Back when he was a member of The Eagles, a band mate was asked to describe Joe and his response was something like . . . . . he's a crazy bunch of guys!
Joe has been around forever and a real musicians musician. Played with a lot of people and respected by many. Know the LFR Family likes Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh was the guy who gave Page his first and still #1 Gibson Les Paul. Joe had the guitar and told Jimmy this was the Guitar perfect for his sound. Page's go to guitar ever since. BTW if ya haven't figured it out, JW is a madman!! Player, writer, creator and genious. Before Joe started playing with the Eagles, they had much more a Country vibe. Once Joe got on board, they took off becoming one of the biggest bands of the 70's. Being played on Rock, Top40, Pop and Country raido stations around the world.
Fav Joe Walsh quote - (something like): "people used to say I was an alcoholic cause I drank all the time, but I actually just drank once for 20 years". Lol
My favorite Joe Walsh quote is from when he was going out on tour after a long break and he was asked if he practices the songs before the tour begins and his reply was "yes, just because you wrote a song that doesn't mean you can play it."
He had a band in the late 60’s early 70’s called The James Gang, and they did a song called “Funk 49”. One of my favorite all time songs. Had another one called “Walk Away” that was really good too.
Never asked for a request but THIS is my one: Joe Walsh "Rocky Mountain Way"! It's a jam & he uses the talk box. Official video or rock out with him singing it at Daryls House.
Joe is still in the Eagles...since 1975! He just has side gigs and does solo work. The Eagles are another great classic rock rabbit hole to dive into. Their harmonies are AMAZING
Gary of Gary and the Grinders, from Ft Smith, AR. is the guy playing here. He was his ghost player. He had a huge bar in FSA. He used to play where I bartended and OMG could that cat play! He would play like Jimmy Hendrix, if you shut your eyes you would swear it was Jimmy! Behind his back, written a Black and Decker drill..... you name it!!! Everything that band did was just like whoever they played. I loved them!
Joe Walsh is National freaking Treasure & we need to protect him like Betty White. I'm a HUGE Walsh fan! Trust me - The Eagles benefitted from having Joe - not the other way around. He a master ghitartist. You know the opening riff from "Life In The Fast Lane"? That riff was his warm up. Movement between his left to right hand & Glenn Fry was like damn that's a song! 🤣
The Eagles have just a sh*t ton of good music, but "Life in the Fast Lane" is really my favorite. I'm not sure any other main-stream tune describes the mid to late 70's cocaine craze and its affect on people in quite such an upbeat way. I love that song, both musically and lyrically.
as a guitar player and a Joe Walsh fan I agree that he's deserve the moniker Master Guitarist, especially when I saw video on YT explaining how to set up guitar and intonation. Dude doesn't just know how to play it.
Joe tells a story of his time in the band, The James Gang. They left Cleveland in a passenger van with five members headed to open a show in Detroit. When they made it to Detroit about four hours later, the band had 3 members.
Joe Walsh, incredible guitarist, one of the best ever, and he is still rocking. James Gang, The Eagles. Listen to him play on Hotel California and many many others. You can pick out his sound anywhere. He has been sober for many years now...great great guy!!
I saw in concert in OKC in the early 90s. On the song Rocky Mountain Way he started singing late. The next day in the newspaper they said how cool it was that he let the fans start the song. I think he was just so stoned he missed his pick up. One of th best concerts I ever went to.
This song is about how Joe, never took himself too seriously in the whirlwind of fame. The whole peice is like a drunken jam session showcasing Joe's sick guitar skills, the keyboardist playing with early Moog synthesizers and fooling around!
Heard this at the Eagles, Heart and Little River Band concert at the Yale bowl 6-14-1980... excellent song! A favorite of mine. Fantastic concert. Joe Walsh - Eagles. Some people at the concert had a huge banner that said "Joe Walsh for President". 💓💖😎🙃😁
My Dad once said the line, "I go to parties sometimes until 4, it's hard to leave when u can't find the door"...fits the story of why he and my Mom eventually broke up, lol
Joe Walsh is literally rock and royalty. He was a member of the Eagles. And also the James Gang. Had a very nice solo career as well. You should listen to Rocky Mountain Way.
Van,Joe Walsh is regarded as one of the greatest guitarist still going with the Eagles for over 25 years. With his early band The James Gang they where very funky rock had a few hits. The story goes that Joe Walsh alone with his playing and singing brought the Eagles out of the country-pop and into Rock n Roll with the big boys.ps he's Ringo's bro-in law.
Yep that was Joe Walsh on the left!!!!! If you haven't already do Joe Walsh Ordinary Average Guy!!!! That's some good music!!! Love your reactions ❤️!! Keep shining ✌️!!!!!!!!!!
I got to see him perform this live in the mid 80's. Awesome experience. Good that you found the full album version and not one of the two cut short ones radio stations like.
Joe Walsh is one of the most awesome musicians, and personalities in music history. You gotta check out "Rocky Mountain Way". He's great with the Eagles as well. "In the City" is a good song of his with them.
Been listening to Joe for over 50 years. Bought this album on vinyl when it first came out. This track/album is post-James Gang and pre-Eagles. He plyed guitar and keyboards with the James Gang, but stayed pretty uch just guitar after, Probably his best known track, but you chould give a listen to "Funk 49" with the Gang -- or the version he did with Daryl Hall on Daryl's House.
Man this is a portal to a GIANT rabbit hole. A hole that has Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Glenn Frye and the Eagles in it. It all started with the Eagles. A truly iconic group that has had 10 songs reach classic status. A few are iconic. Then the rabbit hole splits into 3 when the group broke up and all 3 of them went on to successful solo careers. Each with multiple big songs. And then the Eagles got back together after a very long time. Like decades. And not only achieved success again by playing a mix of their old songs with their solo songs, but added about 4 more great new songs. Im tellin ya, this rabbit hole is very big. Probably over 20 distinct and memorable songs with release dates spanning 4 decades. Lol
Joe had his own band, James Gang and was Guitarist for the Eagles. Highly Suggest: 49 Funk (James Gang) Rocky Mountain Way (from Daryl Hall’s House) Hotel California (Eagles -live)
This is that Rocker you mentioned when you reacted to Hotel California song by the Eagles.. the guy that was dueling with the double guitar player.. Joe Walsh is a Rocker in the truest sense.. lol
Anyone else remember the original line was- "I have a limo right in the trunk, I lock doors in case I get drunk" & "Everybody's so different, we're all insane" ?
Joe is from NE Ohio. Rocky Mountain way rocks. Is one of the few I wish my girl could meet cuz she hella guitarist. She was raised about 10 miles from his home town and his teenage buddy stopped her in her tracks after a set. He played with Joe. Check his name Woody James. Measles was the first high school band.
Okay!! I found your music reaction archive This song here,is SO good.thanks there bro for the awesome reactions keeping me company with some kick back rocknroll, ✌️
You've seen Joe Walsh before man. When you reacted to Hotel California by The Eagles & you saw the guitar solo & you were talking about one of the guitar players saying this ones the rock star, that was Joe Walsh
He probably made his first million with the James Gang. After the Eagles he probably stopped counting. Definitely one of the most spontaneous guitarists you’ll find.
One of the first albums I ever bought was "The Smoker you Drink, the Player you Get". Listen to Rocky Mountain Way. Classic. I believe he was a key member of The Eagles
I like that sound too. They person playing keys is tracking the resonance of the analog filter using the keyboard. It's not a common sound used in rock music.
Love Joe. He's a great guitarist. Check out; Joe Walsh JBLM (live 11/7) He works with veterans and he is telling them in the video how he came up with this song. Funny and informative.
Oh...I have another one...you tube...Weather report group: Weather Report album: Heavy Weather song: Teen Town...this one is aother real show case for bassist Jaco Pastorious

They were both also members of esteemed rock legends (Walsh with the James Gang and the Eagles...Young with Crazy Horse and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young).
Joe Walsh had his own band then joined the Eagles. He is one of the two battling guitarists on Hotel California
Actually a couple before the eagles,. Remember the James gang and solo later
Back when he was a member of The Eagles, a band mate was asked to describe Joe and his response was something like . . . . . he's a crazy bunch of guys!
Hahahahaha
It was Glenn Fry.
@@jennhurl . . . Thanks, Jenny ! !
He is still in the Eagles... saw them on their last tour. Before pandemic.

Funk 49 is perfection

Last James Gang tour at Pine Knob north of detroit lol
I love Funk 49, I love all of Joe's music 🎵
Joe Walsh never took himself seriously. Just a fun loving dude.
That’s how I picture him after listening to a wafflestomp :)
Never asked for a request but THIS is my one: Joe Walsh "Rocky Mountain Way"! It's a jam & he uses the talk box. Official video or rock out with him singing it at Daryls House.

Great tune .....one of my favorites another is ...Welcome To The Club 🔥
I vote for Daryl's House.
My hubby and I love the Live at Daryl's House performance!
Daryls House is so cool!
Joe Walsh is a member of the band "The Eagles"! A very underrated guitarist! He's 🔥 on the strings!🤟👏👍
Not bad when you can do a guitar solo, duel, with Don "Fingers" Felder on Hotel California
I think Joe Walsh guaranteed HOF for the Eagles, without Joe, I'm not sure ..
@@shawnk7832 Yes, Joe kicked them up a notch but even before Joe came in, Don Felder was the one who gave them the kick that they needed to rock
Jor Walsh. Underrated? When?
I always rated that fool very highly. Havin fun being the fool is like being a king
Joe Walsh has another great song called Walk Away with The James Gang. It's always been a personal favorite of mine.
Joe Walsh, Rocky Mountain Way. A 70's rock anthem !
You missed the best line after the mazarati. "My mazarati does 185. I lost my license, now I don't drive." 😆
That line really does set up the humor of the song
yeah, hurt that he missed that. It's the point, lol

There’s a live cut of this sone where he says “people write me letters; tell me Don’s great” referencing Don Henley - band mate in The Eagles
Joe Walsh was a member of the Eagles, he's also the brother in law to Ringo Starr of the Beatles.
He's got studio/guest musicians for this. He definitely plays the guitars, sings, and writes it.
Gary of Gary and the Grinders, from Ft Smith, AR. is the guy playing here. He was his ghost player. He had a huge bar in FSA. He used to play where I bartended and OMG could that cat play! "I can't complain but some times I still do"
"They say I'm lazy, but it takes all my time"
xD
Could be my favorite line in a song. And " i'm just lookin' for clues at the seen of the crime" that he probably committed🤣
The "I can't complain" comment I use All.The.Time. especially whenever someone asks the generic, "how u doin?"
