Okay, here's the dealio- I've been bugging other channels forever (especially Fiber Spider lol) to make a cape/cloak like this! Now I just need to work FLO and BLO to do a double layer - top part coming just over the shoulders. Not a Halloween thing. There's a FINNISH movie called Christmas Story - not the American one- totally different storyline. Anyhow they wear these types of cloaks. Also the movie Christmas Candle wardrobe has cool stuff... And then there's seamstress Bernadette Banner on YT who sews the coolest Victorian and Edwardian era stuff... And all I do when watching any of the above is want to make and wear some of the things from bygone eras. Oh, thank you for the tutorial and showing us your FO.
Thank you for sharing this final measurement with us. I have made a child's size one for a niece. Crystal @Bag O'Day has a witch's hat that I made to go with it, but hers is a child size. Lots of love and yarny hugs 💓
How many stitches wide is the main section of the cape? I would like to add a design into the stitching but need an approximate stitch count width wise.
Hiii! Been wanting to make this but need some info, approximately how many skeins of yarn did you use and how many grams were they each? I don’t go to the store that frequently so that’s why I really need to know how much yarn I need to get 🥹
I’m not sure what the exact conversion would be, but I would say actually to increase less than with dc because sc are shorter and won’t work up as fast. Maybe try same increase, but only every other row.
@@crochet.with.illjay That makes sense! I’ll see if I can find a conversion for it. I love dc, but I feel like I’d want a hdc or sc instead to block out the cold. I could also consider adding a lining to the inside. Thank you for your input!

Thank you for your mk 🤗
Thanks for watching!
Would I be able to use comfy cotton blend yarn with this pattern? Is Thier a gauge so I can make a swatch ? I have 4 balls and this would be great
Sure! I would use a smaller hook then, whatever that yarn recommends.
If I wanted to go down to my knees, should I increase until the project is at my desired length for a full semi circle?
Keep increasing until you reach a desired width. Then continue straight rows until desired length.

Hi, sizing details are available in the written pattern. illjay.com/collections/patterns/products/pdf-pattern-the-hooded-cloak
Tysmmm :>
Would triple crochet stitches require less rows in the long run? Or is it smarter to just do the double so you dont go through as much yarn?
Treble crochet would need less rows overall, but the holes between stitches will also be a bit bigger.
If I were to use a half double or single instead of double, would I use multiples of 12 and then increase the same way?
I’m not sure what the exact conversion would be, but I would say actually to increase less than with dc because sc are shorter and won’t work up as fast. Maybe try same increase, but only every other row.

My yarn is size 3
May I ask what the gauges is ?? Can I use comfy cotton blend yarn for this pattern???
About 2.5 sets per in, but if you are using a weight 3 yarn it will be different. With a weight 3 you will need more stitches as well.
Can I ask how many rows you ended up doing?
Hi Kyra, I ended up with 52 rows total. But really I just kept going until the end of my 6th skein.
When do you know to stop increasing? At What point of your body would you stop?
Hi Natalie, you can stop increasing when it is wide enough to go around your body.
I mean weight 3

Why do people post FREE Pattern when it isn't free? It's extremely distasteful!
Hi Jess, where is the pattern marketed as free? I don’t want to mislead anyone, although it is free is you follow along…
You have to go to part one and she shows you the pattern
