@@themetalmuse Honestly, that's what got me to watch Eurovision this year. After the semi-finals, they went viral...rightfully so, lol. Thanks for sharing your reaction
I found Bambie Thug after hearing they were on Eurovision (not really into Eurovision, but I had to see Bambie Thug). I now follow them on Spotify, their music is so good. Love the witchy representation. I get chills every time I watch this performance.🖤🖤
Hey from Belgium (well, Thailand right now). I was at Eurovision this year, and also at the Irish national selection where Bambie was selected by the Irish public and jury. At the beginning, outside Ireland nobody really thought this had much of a chance - people often talked about it potentially not qualifying for the final (which, to be fair, is often the case for Ireland - Bambie was our second qualifier from the semis to the final in 10 yeaars). But that night in Dublin you could tell there was something special in the air - the whole afterparty bar erupted when Bambie won. They were seen as a break form the past, of our stale entries that hadn't moved on from the 1990s. They challenged societal norms from the beginning - in the Irish national final Bambie emphasised how important their non-binary identity was to them. At the pub after they performed this song, Tsunami and Egregore (all great tracks, but highly recommend Tsunami for you). At Eurovision I was lucky enough to go as press, and as soon as the first pictures and clips of this came out it generated such hype. No longer was it a discussion about qualification, but about whether Ireland could win the semi (They didn't - came third behind Croatia (Baby Lasagne 1st) and Ukraine (Jerry Heil & Alyona Alyona 2nd). In the final, the songs above Ireland were: 1. Switzerland - Nemo (the Code) - Also a non-binary act but more accessible to the general public in terms of musical style -combines pop, rap, opera with althelticism on stage - a bundle of energy and a deserving winner. Won the Jury vote. All season I was flipping between Nemo and Bambie as my favs, and the two of them are very close as wel. 2. Croatia (Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim) - More of a stadium anthem, fan favourite, won the Televote . 3. Ukraine - 3rd in Televote and 5th in Jury - haunting, but a beautiful song, with rap elements - I imagine not your style of song. 4. France - 2nd in Jury and 4th in Televote (1 point ahead of Switz in televote). Male ballad - very French. Not my song at all, but the artist himself is amazing - kindhearted and a magnificent vocalist. 5. Israel (2nd in televote for obviousr reasons, 12th in Jury) - nothing special about the song. And then came 6. Ireland - Televote and Jury scores very cloe to each other at around 140 each. Italy were 7th with a feel-good summer anthem. Other songs you may be interested in - Ethno-rock from Norway (came last in the final - totally undeserved), Ethno-rap mix from Estonia (again, the result wasn;t very fair for them - 20th (out of 25 in the final). You may enjoy the aesthetics of Slovenia - Raiven singing Veronika. That came 23rd. Of the non-qualifiers, you've got 2000s British indie with the Czech republic - Aiko, and punk by Spanish band Megara (they represented San Marino....yes Eurovision is complicated and confusing :D ). There was quite a bit of musical diversity this year from many genres, and a lot of risquee productions (basically gay porn - UK, Spanish male dancers in corset/thong things, and a naked man emerging from a denim egg and running around ass-cheeks out saying random things into his mic while another guy sang a 90s stlye song - Finland - Windows 95 Man. It's great entertainment all in all. From previous years I'd recommend Hatari (2019 - Iceland) and Blind Channel (2021 - Finland) ro have a gander at. Thanks again for the Bambie reaction - they had a tough final week of Eurovision after being targetted by the EBU that organises Eurovision and the Israeli delegation (they verbally harassed a large number of contestants, including those of Greece, Portugal, Switzerland through the week, and there was very little support for those artists getting directlty targettted by the Israeli broadcaster and some sections of the Israeli media - not all by any means, but enough that those 4 in particular were getting threats from Israelis online due to the coverage. They also targetted the Dutch participant, who was ultimately disqualified for a verbal altercation backstage with a photographer (we don't know the full details, just that the photographer was worknig with the organiser and not the Israeli delegation, but the delegation had been taking photos and videos of the artists without their consent and putting nasty stories online about those artists. Unacceptable behaviour from any broadcaster, yet we haven't seen any consequences as yet - watch this space but don't hold your breath. Sp uea....lots of drama, tension and lack of support for artists backstage during Eurovision week. Nevertheless, still worth watching some of the performances mentioned above :)
Oh wow I didn’t know they had such a rough time of it, I tend to not get into the drama or politics of Eurovision, ever since “my lovely horse” didn’t win I’ve known it’s rigged 🤣🤣🤣 for anyone reading this who doesn’t know Father Ted keep clam it’s a joke, google “My Lovely horse” 🐎
Amazing summary. So happy to see others also supporting Bambie and Nemo, they get so much hate simply because are not comforming to standard gender norms. I absolutely loved both entries way before learning they were non binary (which I am not myself) and I genuinely believe they were two of the best Eurovision entries of all time, so quirky and different and artistic, both of them, and both performances absolutely stunning, both in terms of vocal and show. I've been watching Eurovision for many years and I honestly think the contest nowadays has just gotten too popular for its own good. It used to be a safe haven for LGBTQ people, a place where they can shine as themselves with no one judging. Now I feel like there is too much hatred, people are too competitive and take it too personally when their favorite entry doesn't win. It's really sad and I hope they will do something to correct this in the following years because it's really not OK.
@@themetalmuse ❤️ One of my favourite episodes of Father Ted ever. That and The Hairy Baby episode. Comedy Gold 😂 Neil Hannon from an excellent band at the time called The Devine Comedy, wrote My Lovely Horse especially for that episode. Which makes it even funnier 🤣 He still sings it at gigs for the laugh. I have to do another Father Ted marathon again. Thanks for the reminder. And thank you so much for such a fantastic reaction video to Bambie. Much love 🫶
@@themetalmuse I just checked it out and: I know it is a joke - but I genuinely love this song! (which is also the perfect sentence to describe Eurovision, now that I think about it)
Also, the winning entry (The Code by Nemo for Switzerland) is definitely listen worthy :) *it's not rock or metal by any means, but it's really good also
As a Eurovision fan half way around the world in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, I didn’t hear any of these entries until the week of the contest and fell in the love the first time I heard it. It’s one of the ear worms. I love the visuals.
The one you watched was their final peformance. I think Bambie’s semifinal performance was even more intense and ”give-it-all”, very unforgettable! My all time fav Esc performance!
I saw various videos by another person reacting and they reacted only to semi final videos. I noticed that those videos seem to be less "polished" soundwise, which personally I prefer. It made me feel "closer" to the artists, if that makes sense.
I'm with you - So so so damn proud!! This is Ireland getting with the times. Amazing effort from Bambie's whole team, and also the RTE team, especially Michael Kealy (HoD) who gave Bambie and their team so much creative and expressive freedom, as well as huge support when the negative stuff was going on in the background, despite such a limited budget. Love love love!! One of the best all round Eurovision performances of all time. It will be remembered for years to come - it was the talk of Malmo during Eurovision week - I was with Greeks, Norwegians, Germans, Bulgarians, Brits, Dutch, Armenians, Spanish, Latvians and more, and every single one, including those who didn't even like the song at all, wanted Ireland to win after seeing the first rehearsal and the first semi final - both in the arena and watching on screen. More of this please Ireland - love how many references to our pagan roots there are in the song and the symbolism. We want our 8th win and this is a huge step in the right direction :) 💚🤍🧡
What in the Buddhist god of peace are you on about? Art is art. Appreciate it, or not, it’s subjective , but don’t force your religious beliefs on others
Lord of the Lost was German's contribution last year, they made it to Final , but were last. I loved it!! Try a review of their song Blood and Glitter :) ! Haha I Love Bambi, she killed it at and made 6th place ! I just found you because of them. I am a huge Eurovision fan and Metal fan .
Great reaction! You should also check out Bambie's song Tsunami, it's brilliant!! They're such a talent and I am so glad to have discovered them through Eurovision. The contest is such a brilliant platform for artists to get the recognition worldwide that they deserve. Absolute art on stage! (ps: your eye makeup is lush!)
I agree Tsunami is fabulous that ending with that explosive percussion is such a liberating thud on repeat, but I love the Gothic romance and pale wasted passion of "Love Bites" ( gives me Goosebumps and a brimming eye. I love the video
I came across this video by chance and I like what I hear. I've been watching Eurovision every year for the last 18 years and I've been a real fan of the contest for more than 10 years now. Every year there is at least one song that I really love and support but NEVER before have I been so captivated by a performance. I cried whith the performance of Duncan Laurence back in 2019 but with Bambie Thug this year I was in a state of total euphoria. I remember shaking at the end of their performance because I was so impressed and happy to see that on the Eurovision stage. "The Code" from Nemo was my favorite song but jeez Bambie Thug's performance was by far my favorite. I'm glad they were (and I hope they still are) good friends during the competition!
Hi ! Bambie Thug did a wonderful performance! They are *chef's kiss*. Also, you should react to Lordi "Hard Rock Hallelujah", they won Eurovision with a Hard Rock song !!
their tour crown the witch was announced today!! first saw them a couple years back opening for wargasum in Manchester. if you dig the witchy stuff check out their song "necromancy"
Bambie did incredible abd represented irish people, pagan people and trans people with a lot of grace and strenght 💕 It was a little demoralising to see all the extreme christians and anti trans anti pagan people trashing them all week during eurovision but seeing the final score, 6th place, really shows that there is a place for the goths, the pagans, the queers and the freaks on eurovision 😭💜
G'day, Dom. Just curious to know if you've sussed out Australia's Eurovision song from a few years back... by a synthpop/progressive-metal band named Voyager? Voyager's frontman, Danny Estrin, had loved Bambie Thug's performance that much of the night of Eurovision's final (giving the track a full-on twelve points), but it unfortunately didn't get there - although Doomsday Blue did well in Australia's soul - mine, in particular. Anyway, Voyager had composed a classic upbeat/borderline metal piece for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, named 'Promise'. The band finished up strongly in ninth position. Worthwhile checking out.
There are other 2 rock/metal entries for eurovision this year from Norway and San Marino. You may like those as well. Especially Norway, it's more like a metal/folk metal song with some insane vocals.
Eurovision has been completely changing since 2019 after hatari went to Eurovision (also you should react to harari - hatrið mun sigra if you haven’t already). Hatari really opened the gates for songs like this
I don't think it was Hatari being the trendsetter, before him: 2006 - Lordi won 2018 - Hungary sent AWS - Viszlat nyar, which is a proper metal core song performed by a band.
@@Eva-mp7xg lordi didn’t really set a trend though since there weren’t really any similar songs afterwards and Hungary didn’t get a good result so I doubt many looked up to them as a sight of being able to do well
Getting into the top ten in Eurovision is like really good placement, and this year was a really strong. Other rock/metal entries that did really well in Eurovision in the past I would love to see you check out: Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah (2006 Winner) Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra (2019 10th place) Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni (2021 Winner) Also they didn't do that well but their performance was still amazing so I would definitely recommend Gåte - Ulveham from this year. As a Eurovision fan that enjoys multiple genres I'm really happy to see increasing variety in genres there are a lot of songs outside the pop mould that do really well.
I think you'd enjoy Scarlet - Cirkus X that was a contender for the swedish eurovision this year, but they didn't even make it to the swedish finals, which is a bloody atrocity. They were so good, also right up ur alley! Peace from swe
Out of all ESC 2024 songs, you can also check Slovenian's entry - "Veronika" by Raiven. It is a song about a Slovenian woman who was (falsely) accused of witchcraft in the Middle Ages. Also Czech entry had a lot of 80s goth-rock vibes.
BT used real ritual in this perfomance, ..Many wicca , witch or pagan rituals historically started with drawn pentagram and circle around it After spell you can break the circle if you want. Pentagram and circle has meaning of highes protection but also highes vibrational power. It is some kind of shield for person who do the spell. after you did spell you can break the circle. Breaking the circle means that spell should be now released and realised in 3 D but also that all called entititis from another realms should go "home" after ritual is done and not staying on earth,.BT is great, very talented artist, awesome perfomance
Haha I mat never be mud free! I'm honestly surprised that my wellies didn't disintegrate beneath the many layers of mud, but on the bright side it was a good work out
Great reaction. If you want to check out other works of Bambie, there's a live performance of Tsunami 11 : 11 at the London Eurovision Party, and the MVs for Tsunami, Egregore, Love Bites are great, too.
Bambie Thug was an absolute force of nature, my heart's torm between them and (because I have different tastes to you) the Armenian lead singer who is absolutely adorable. I do get the feeling that if that Irish dancer was to walk into your room looking like that you'd be all "...what husband...? ...what boyfriend...? I... I'm... single me I am!" I do wish Portugal had sent Maria João with Dia to Malmo. That song was a delightful mix of Bjork, Nina Hagen and the sort of joyful insanity that makes Eurovision for me! Also, a shame Norway came last with a song that you might like but Bambie Thug stole all the thunder from.
There has been metal before at Eurovision, there maNga with We Could Be the Same, Lordi with Hard Rock Hallelujah (which straddles the rock/metal border), Dark Side by Blind Channel, Blood and Glitter by Lord of the Lost, Zitti e Buoni by Maneskin (border of glam metal and rock), Viszlat Nyar by AWS, Apocalyptica was an interval act at one point, In Your Dreams by Wig Wam was definitely more on the Glam Metal side, Hatrið mun sigra by Hatari was more industrial metal, Higher Ground by Rasmussen, even Rasmus turned up with Jezebel (which deserved far better than it got). There's usually at least one rock or metal act per year and it usually does well
regarding the topic. "can't believe this went to eurovision" you should check out 2006 winner Lordi. Could be your kind of music. it's not metal, but rock and costums and whatever not. =)

I found Bambie Thug after hearing they were on Eurovision (not really into Eurovision, but I had to see Bambie Thug). I now follow them on Spotify, their music is so good. Love the witchy representation. I get chills every time I watch this performance.🖤🖤
Same! I have a ticket to see them in Glasgow 🎉
Your reaction is literally the best I keep coming back to your video haha Each time I get goosebumps. Absolutely incredible.
Wow, thank you!
As you know, the sponsors of the competition are Israel, I think they reduced the jury's votes to prevent Ireland.
@@themetalmuse ❤️ One of my favourite episodes of Father Ted ever. That and The Hairy Baby episode. Comedy Gold 😂
Neil Hannon from an excellent band at the time called The Devine Comedy, wrote My Lovely Horse especially for that episode.
(which is also the perfect sentence to describe Eurovision, now that I think about it)
Fucking amazing performance! She was so good!
I legitimately found my new thing in Bambie as well. I'm a bit obsessed atm. They're so unbelievably fabulous. 😍
this is the best reaction I've seen, I could tell you were enjoying it the way i did when I listened to this the first time
🙏🙏🙏☺️☺️☺️ I really did
Also, the winning entry (The Code by Nemo for Switzerland) is definitely listen worthy :)
*it's not rock or metal by any means, but it's really good also
I have just reacted to it. Editing it now 😁
As a Eurovision fan half way around the world in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, I didn’t hear any of these entries until the week of the contest and fell in the love the first time I heard it. It’s one of the ear worms. I love the visuals.
Defo been looping in my brain!
Best performance in the history of Eurovision!
Crown the witch! 🖤👑
👸👸👸👸
really hoping im able to get tickets to their tour, they are so amazing!!
The one you watched was their final peformance. I think Bambie’s semifinal performance was even more intense and ”give-it-all”, very unforgettable! My all time fav Esc performance!
I’ll check it out 🙌
I saw various videos by another person reacting and they reacted only to semi final videos. I noticed that those videos seem to be less "polished" soundwise, which personally I prefer. It made me feel "closer" to the artists, if that makes sense.
yess!! Crown the Witch!
i’m so proud to be Irish right now
💚🤍🧡
Why? Because of this creepy ghoul?
@@patoshannessy3775don't be a prick, ghouls are cool!
I am Greek and I am happy the Irish sent the Witch.
What in the Buddhist god of peace are you on about? Art is art. Appreciate it, or not, it’s subjective , but don’t force your religious beliefs on others
Ireland did amazing because of bambie! Going to see them on tour in Dublin!
I just saw them last night in Glasgow! EPIC!!!
6th in Eurovision is acc good our best result in 24 years
I remember when you guys kept winning so much you entered with My Lovely Horse and got robbed.
I’ve reacted to them before and their Blood and Glitter video. It’s much better live.
They are phenomenal! I’ve watched their performance numerous times and I’m still finding new things I haven’t seen before. I love it.
❤️
Great reaction! You should also check out Bambie's song Tsunami, it's brilliant!! They're such a talent and I am so glad to have discovered them through Eurovision. The contest is such a brilliant platform for artists to get the recognition worldwide that they deserve. Absolute art on stage!
(ps: your eye makeup is lush!)
I will and thank you! I’m addicted to Pat McGrath right now.
I agree Tsunami is fabulous that ending with that explosive percussion is such a liberating thud on repeat, but I love the Gothic romance and pale wasted passion of "Love Bites" ( gives me Goosebumps and a brimming eye. I love the video
This is my favorit entry on Eurovision, ever.. F... ing awesome..
You should watch official video too..
I just did and love it
@@themetalmuse l love your reaction... I would like to see you reacting to their Tsunami video. 😜😁
Nice. Very nice 👍🏻
Thank you 👍
Guess who got tickets to Glasgow 😮
Bambie did incredible abd represented irish people, pagan people and trans people with a lot of grace and strenght 💕 It was a little demoralising to see all the extreme christians and anti trans anti pagan people trashing them all week during eurovision but seeing the final score, 6th place, really shows that there is a place for the goths, the pagans, the queers and the freaks on eurovision 😭💜
Yeah someone keeps calling them a satanist in the comments here too, it’s just so medieval.
@@metardis1670 but what if you bypass father and just ask mom? What’s her take? I hear she’s not like other moms, she’s a cool mom. 😎
😊 definitely listen to bambies version of Zombie - the cranberries. A very creepy but excellent cover!
I'll check it out!
They also do an Intimate version of the song, which is brilliant also. Please check it out. 👍
Insane performance!
💯
Everytime she screamed it almost brought me to tears, that's when I knew she would be my personal winner this year or in a long time

At the quick run through of all the songs at the live show, Ireland delegation chose the bit with the diabolical scream at the end. Loved that. 😂
The energy in their music is like a sonic hurricane that engulfs you. I now need to see you react on Nick Thurl's new song end up dead 😍
great reaction! gained a follower 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

The lyrics, the dance moves, the stage presence, the camera work…it was pure art
💯🫶
Ty for watching this me irish so i am so proud that u like that music video❤
Oh honey, I didn’t like this video. I loved it.
Just FYI - Bambie identifies as they/them. And yes please - do Baby Lasagna (Croatia) - that's his stage name.
👍
Nobody sane cares.
@@patoshannessy3775 Why on earth would I respect the opinion of a *sane* person?
@@allterraindummy You tell me.
Bambie does NOT identify as they/them but identifies as non-binary (whatever that means) and want others to use they/them pronouns.
There are other 2 rock/metal entries for eurovision this year from Norway and San Marino. You may like those as well. Especially Norway, it's more like a metal/folk metal song with some insane vocals.
Bambie has just announced a tour. Check it out.
🙌👍
You got your witchy wish, Bambie has announced their tour dates.
Yassssss
Eurovision has been completely changing since 2019 after hatari went to Eurovision (also you should react to harari - hatrið mun sigra if you haven’t already). Hatari really opened the gates for songs like this
I’ll check em out.
I don't think it was Hatari being the trendsetter, before him:
2006 - Lordi won
2018 - Hungary sent AWS - Viszlat nyar, which is a proper metal core song performed by a band.
@@Eva-mp7xg lordi didn’t really set a trend though since there weren’t really any similar songs afterwards and Hungary didn’t get a good result so I doubt many looked up to them as a sight of being able to do well
@@Eva-mp7xg also who knows, maybe Finland 2015 were the true treandsetters since, why not 💀
It's very impressive and thrilling.
I voted for Ireland! I loved them.

Спасибо за реакцию, она полностью совпала с моей ❤👏. Я почувствовала восхищение, потрясение, счастье от роскошного представления. Бэмби - прекрасная молодая артистка.
Very much so! Can’t wait to see them live soon.

Yas 👏
I was in Dublin at that time 😅 IT was awesome
😁😁😁
Great reaction, thank you
☺️☺️☺️
Getting into the top ten in Eurovision is like really good placement, and this year was a really strong.
Other rock/metal entries that did really well in Eurovision in the past I would love to see you check out:
Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah (2006 Winner)
Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra (2019 10th place)
Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni (2021 Winner)
Also they didn't do that well but their performance was still amazing so I would definitely recommend Gåte - Ulveham from this year.

6th out of 37 songs is good enough for me.
They.

What's so funny is her background is all pretty
Great reaction. If you want to check out other works of Bambie, there's a live performance of Tsunami 11 : 11 at the London Eurovision Party, and the MVs for Tsunami, Egregore, Love Bites are great, too.
Thank you I will
Bambie Thug was an absolute force of nature, my heart's torm between them and (because I have different tastes to you) the Armenian lead singer who is absolutely adorable.
I do get the feeling that if that Irish dancer was to walk into your room looking like that you'd be all "...what husband...? ...what boyfriend...? I... I'm... single me I am!"
I do wish Portugal had sent Maria João with Dia to Malmo. That song was a delightful mix of Bjork, Nina Hagen and the sort of joyful insanity that makes Eurovision for me!
Also, a shame Norway came last with a song that you might like but Bambie Thug stole all the thunder from.
Check out Tsunami from Bambie
Please check out Careless, I know what you did last summer, Love Bites, Ritual, Headbang!! All different and brilliant. Loved your reaction
There's usually at least one rock or metal act per year and it usually does well
Yeah but what’s better than some metal? MORE METAL 🤘
Check out their song ....Careless.
🙏🙏🙏
regarding the topic. "can't believe this went to eurovision" you should check out 2006 winner Lordi. Could be your kind of music. it's not metal, but rock and costums and whatever not. =)
