Among the innumerable virtues of the Dead, they were peerless interpreters of blues songs.

Bobby's guitar solo is awesome. Didn't know he could rip it like that. This is definitely the best version ANYONE has ever done.

Great Willie Dixon song. Great cover by the Dead. You won't find any popular bands making music like this today. You have to hunt it down to find it.
    Popular music today sucks.

This song seems to go on forever! Nobody played better music to get stoned to like The Dead.

Brents B-3 work on this and Bobby's slide work, at times, totally musically resemble a cocky rooster strutting his stuff around the barnyard. Amazing. I was listening to this song from "Dead Set", (Played sometime around this exact time) while I was on a hike and I was rocking out so hard on the beautiful wooded trails in Tennessee that the other runners were looking at me funny. It was a wonderful hike.

Brent Mydland always played a tight Rooster. He is truly missed.

If this is not the cross between blues and rock 'n roll, I don't know what is.

Man... Brent... I don't think there was one bad note played. I was waiting for Brent to come in with his own personal verse he wrote, but I guess he didn't start doing that until around 86. Bobby's vocals were awesome. The slide guitar was really great from both Jer and Bobby. And Phil is just fun to watch :) Great band.

Great job on this classic by the Dead although I prefer the older ones by the blues greats like Howlin Wolf or Big Momma Thornton. On the other hand this song is so strong it's hard to imagine a bad cover.

Totally the Best version I've Ever heard.... Except in 1993 live...gave me a chill in my spine that lasted for days... it could have been the tabs, but I'm pretty sure it was from the song,

@RedsoxFan20042007 brent was a big fan of pen, brent bought the 1967 debut album and studied rons technique. probably never would have thought in a million years he would one day take his place
