Absolutely hilarious! Thank you so much for uploading. I wish there were many more programmes like this - we need it now more than ever. There is so much garbage on nowadays, that I don't know where the my TV begins and my dustbin ends, so don't bother watching any more.
I've been trawling my way through some old 80s primetime telly, mostly stuff of which I was aware but didn't see at the time, and this was much better than I expected; there was some excellent character work in amongst the broad (et still funny) stuff, and even the bits that they wouldn't be able to get away with today (I'm looking at you, Jim'll jinx it and the final musical number) were properly enjoyable. Thanks for the upload.
I Managed to videotape some but not all of the madhouse episodes more than 30 years ago and I still watch them now even though picture degraded over the years but still watchable. He lost his spark when moved to the BBC and the writing got to be more slapstick which I am not a fan of so didn't tape them but when he moved back to ITV in the middle 90s I taped them so I can still delight in his full of fun characters.
Millennials moan about 240p, Boomers had the tracking to deal with on VHS. Meanwhile, I'm sat watching this on a portable black and white with a coat hanger as an aerial...
It's amazing what a difference 35 years makes. I can even remember seeing the Madhouse in St David's Hall in Cardiff. I loved this a 10 year kid but looking at it now, it truly is terrible.
2.20...That barman was in Hi-de-hi, when it started i had to hit bedtime for school 9-10pm..pisser..that hi-de-hi intro song was classic, the big dirty blonde and that Barry guy..😏
cool i was not sure if they where. itv have claimed the video so hopefully if enough people watch this episode it my prompt them to issue a dvd. i would buy it as enjoy this type of humour
Alas it not itv you need to speak to it someone else, I cant remember the story but I believe Russ management has a control in the series.. TY for uploading this gem, ITs only one but its the only one!
classic russ and the gang ..with the young susie blake and sherrie hewson ,, wooohh and the late bella emberg and family fortunes ... les dennis and the sad passing of dustin gee
People who are calling this shit are judging this from today's standards and morals and not by the eighties standards. How do you think a forty something TV viewer from 1983 would feel if they could watch today's comedians and sketch shows? They'd probably call someone like Russell Howard a left wing whinging twat! Times change, but nobody should be judged on liking old comedy.
Russ Abbot made my childhood sparkling golden...absolutely love it
This has brought tears to my eyes happy memories of real Saturday night tv and being a child
Raj Nirvan Same mate👍🏼😀

Brilliant. Thanks for this. I've been trawling You Tube for weeks because there's never anything worth watching on telly, and this has made my day :)

Les Dennis at 1:40 , I really had to double take as this is the best impersonation of John Inman ever , even the voice was spot on .
It was good, not great.
The musical number was the best thing I've seen in years -just brilliant!
Seeing you has taken me back to better times. Good to see you Sir. 🙏🏾
Russ Abbot's madhouse is now on sky channel 187 (Thats's TV) along with other great shows like Benny Hill & Monty Python
Why can't we have comedy like this anymore? Answers on a postcard to.....😊
Why can't we have decent cars, decent music, decent clothes, decent professionals footballers everything has gone downhill

Loved his shows when I lived in the UK in the 80's. Funny skits always and great songs. I even purchased the LP of the songs.
Can not believe I found the wonderful I adore mi amor song, man Russ Abbot is forgotten about , while the usual tripe are remember. .
What a line up, which also used to include Michael Barrymore.

These aren't "missing" as such - the tapes still exist and are being looked after and maintained but just haven't been released on DVD yet.

You'd need to speak to Network DVD, they release tons of ITV stuff and this would be right up their street.
No main channel comedy or drama show from after the mid '70s will have been wiped.
