It must have been the last time Russ and Dustin Gee would ever work together, as Dustin died suddenly just over six months after this. The following year Russ moved to BBC 1.
Dustin Gee had his first heart attack in May/Jun 85 on stage at the Laughter Show summer season show in Blackpool, around the time this was broadcast. He came back to finish the show's run after only a few weeks despite being told to rest for 6 months....almost certainly that contributed to his fatal heart attack in panto six months later. EDIT - checking on IMDb, there was a final ITV series of Russ Abbot's Madhouse first aired after this in Autumn 85, with Dustin Gee still in it, so this was not the last time Abbot and Gee worked together.
This is brilliant! I used to watch Russ when I was a teenager, and it still makes me 🤣 years later. Annoying to think that sketch with the male singers wouldn't be allowed now.......🙄 Thanks for the upload, it's made my day! 💕
After being bored shitless with Live At The Apollo, Would I lie To You, and similar middle class boring super witty snore fests, I decided to come here to watch good old fashioned silly wacky comedy..Get me in a time machine back to the 80's and fucking keep me there!!

That didn't matter much initially as Les seemed to be there for Dustin's far better impressions to bounce off. They worked really well as a double act with great chemistry. Les Dennis became massively less funny after Dustin Gee died though.
They stopped bo selecta because it took the piss out of everybody ,black white and yellow, exactly like the Russ Abbott show, its a british thing to take the piss out of each other and all the people that come to our country have apparantly become offended by it,oh well, just keep our humour in our houses and amongst ourselves,it will never die out, just because they took our humour out of the tv,it doesnt mean they can take the humour out of us :) that scene with silly black instead of cilla black though lol hilarious I mean I'm sure today they would say ginger people are offended even though no ginger people are offended, next they will be saying midgets are offended but really they're just far away lol
Was 17 year old back then, loved Russ,, and the shows,, from northern Ireland UK
Atmosphere sounds like UDa music.
Still snapping your whipper huh ;)
What a find, laughed even more now than I did back then. Complete wall to wall lunacy!
What a class act russ abbot and the cast great comedy
Great comedy in its day 😊😊 loved Russ Abbot ❤
05:08 THATS what I love in comedy!! When the unexpected happens, like line fluffs, giggles or an accident 😂😂
Genius
Long John Thomas.😄😄😄
I giggled so much watching this video. Happy simpler days :)
Les could make good money as a Paul McCartney impersonator in that Jimmy Tarbuck makeup @6:00.
This was the gang at their best. The BBC shows were funny but the Tarbie and Cilla sketch here still holds up well. Quality writing
Yes i agree i couldn't stop laughing.
They just worked so brilliantly
God l love russ abott loved madhouse and the gangxx
27:35 -- Didn't know Jeffrey Holland could play a guitar. He is actually forming proper chord shapes.

Dustin and Les moved to the BBC as well the same year with the laughter show
@@bletheringfool Les was with both BBC and ITV as he became host of Family Fortunes around 1987
@@bletheringfool The Laughter show started in early 1984, so they had already been on the BBC more than a year when this was filmed.

wonder hooters
this is truly funny really funny lots!! too much funny
Bella was always good for a laugh too. Crumbs, I was 28 in 1985 but always enjoyed British humour.
Classic pure gold. It's a real shame this would never be allowed now.
Curly straws in the milk bottles.
Genius!!!
"Barratt Homes" and "Wimpey" in the same carriage as "Bovis" and "Costain". There was a clever, clever writer.
Fantastic Russ abbotts LWT shows were so much better with led Denis and Dustin Gee

This has to be 1986 as LWT changed intro.
It was filmed in 1985 but probably reshown in 1986/87. Dustin Gee died suddenly and unexpectedly in January 1986 so it wasn't recorded then
I think the updated LWT ident has been edited in at a later date.
Definitely 1985

Are you able to upload any more russ abbot episodes
I'm afraid not, but do enjoy the ones that are still there. All the best
I was 13yrs..i remember dad copying voices and calling those less pretty looking.. Lol
This is a repeat from 1986

The "Four Bottoms" sketch would cause WW3 today lol.
This would be banned today too many people being offended for fuck all.
Some people have no sense of humour
😂😁👏pmsl....
The Four Bottoms - I see where Michael Jackson got some of his inspiration from now 😝
