      An office dog!!!! How fantastic! Definitely would want to work in a symmetrical place like the cube. All my favorite things - clean lines, minimalist offices. Out of interest- what was it like sound-wise? I have autism and sensory processing disorders so what it sounds, smells, feels like makes a huge difference. Some companies in South Africa actually have a policy of no earphones to try and get people to interact 🙀

      No, wouldn’t like to work there. I already work in a similar office and I am missing human aspect in it. I am pro- minimalism, but that goes to an extreme.

    I think I would feel very insecure at a place like that-not knowing where I could sit to work on a given day, not being able to leave my things, not feeling comfortable... It might promote focus but will people burn out faster in that environment? I guess that depends on the company and how much they take care of their employees with vacation time and such. I'm glad to know that I have a desk to work at when I go in to work!

    this is pretty to look at, but in practicality we are human beings w different needs on a daily basis, whom (if working in an office) happen to spend a large function of our day in a work setting. the environment, to better help enhance all different types of workers should have a variety of spaces or aesthetics designed into the space. Not all open, not all closed, not so sterile everywhere, and a sense of routine and comfort for those workers who actually need this and are highly productive not having to feel rigid all day long. The dog was nice but still seemed out of place there, but im sure- so good for emotional and mental health. ty for the video!

    Flexible seating instead of stuffing your regular workspace with papers and what not seems to be an overall trend -- I work in Stockholm, and next month the company I work at is moving to a new office -- clean-cut, spacious, and with free sitting - no more "this desk is mine" mentality. Anticipating this as a way to get to know better some of my colleagues!

    An interesting business, for sure. I could see myself working in that building but I don't think I'd like hot-desking. I think I might feel like I don't belong; not having an area at work that was 'mine'. I understand the concept but wonder how effective it is and if people are truly happy having to move around daily or even hourly. Thanks for the tour guys!

    • @SuperPuddingcat
      @SuperPuddingcat 5 лет назад +13

      I worked in some offices with the hot desk system and there are always a good number of shitty desks that are badly placed and never enough desks. So everyone scrambles in the mornngs to get a "good" desk. Which means you have to keep going in earlier and earlier to get a nice spot. If you arrive too late and the scramble is over, you end up at a desk that nobody wants for various reasons and you spend the day feeling umcomfortable. Then the lunch time scramble starts. If you managed to get a good spot, you will loose it if you go for lunch because the people who got the uncomfortable places will move to the desk you just vacated. So people dont go to lunch etc. The hot desk system only works if the desks are all positioned decently. Perhaps in a company like polestar they have invested the time and effort to make the the hot desk system work for everyone but average companies usually dont.

    • @jedrashidul6952

      I've never had a designated desk for me even when I was managing more than 100 ppl under me. Seriously a desk is just a desk☺️

    • @SuperPuddingcat
      @SuperPuddingcat 5 лет назад +3

      Jed Rashidul just a few examples of badly placed desks. Desks placed directly under air conditioning vent: spend the day in a draft and freezing. Desk placed directly at an entrance door: people continuously walking past behind your back is unpleasant. Desk placed by the conference room: people coming out of meetings talking and gathering together by your desk is distracting and irritating. There can be lots of reasons that a particular work space is uncomfortable, a desk is just a desk when there is enough space and enough desks.

    From the first day in my new job, I have been struggling with concentration and efficiency. I didn’t know why I was like this until in this video Jenny reminds me that a good environment does sharpen ones mind. I used to work in a place which is as cool as this one. Everything was simple and functional. There were public places, and there were also small private cubes where you can shut all disruptions out and focus on your own work. It was very easy to maintain high efficiency. Now my current workplace is in a shabby, crowded building. There are so many things to distract you and cause trouble. I miss the office of my last job :(
