What's the breakdown cost wise to justify all the time and effort from na to turbo? Is it a huge $ difference? Also would the car be worth less than a genuine turbo come sale time? Or is it all purely you tube content just showing what can be done. ?
Some yes, but not what you’d assume. As mentioned during the build, I’d been buying and stockpiling parts for this conversion for quite some time. I’m very fortunate to have had the help from the guys in the video though who are all great mates.
I just bought a new fg turbo manifold bc the ba one makes the turbo stick out too far (6 boost adapter on a sohc), the only non budget thing is the haltech, but I'm wiring that in myself
To each their own. I've watched and enjoyed your XR6 n/a turbo conversion videos and have enjoyed them. With that said, putting the XR6 Turbo badge on the car isn't for me. It's not an XR6 Turbo. It may have all the Turbo goodness, but it's still an XR6.
@HoonTV m8, you have certainly done it extremely well, the right way, but it will never be an XR6 Turbo. It's like all the fake Walkies, GTHO'S, RX3's, etc. out there. They are not real. The compliance plate will always show that.
This is essntially, my ute. A silver FG but without the turbo badge, because the 'O' fell off and as they say, "all or nothing". Compliance plate says it came with a turbo though. :) As has been mentioned, it'd be nice to have an idea of how much it costs to 'up turbo' an atmo, especially one to this kind of OEM+ standard, but it's a can of worms because everyone's parts collection abilities are different, as are their spanner spinning skills, collection of mates and enablers and desired end result. I watched the whole thing to see how much drama I paid my way out of, or more accurately saved cash and effort on. Looking forward to seeing it wherever it ends up without revenue vacuums getting in the way.
