I found the pylon oddly game sense skill dependent. Being able to cancel pylon and get it back just before they damage it and cycling it back was something i picked up on.
This is the main reason I consider her to be viable in Brawl comps. Her kit is great for taking advantage of having tank and dps right in front of her taking the heat while she alternates snipes and heals.
Yeah turret management to get the most out of it while avoiding having it get destroyed is a whole mini game within the team fight. Now that people are already much better about spotting it and destroying it, I find that a lot of times my best results are with NOT using it right away, healing with right click until the fight is progressed enough that the enemy has gotten tunnel vision on the target they are fighting, THEN putting it out while they are distracted. Even then, I'll often let it tick a few times and then recall it seconds later if the healing feels under control. So ironically the turret is good, but you can't just leave it out and rely on it like people think you can. People complain about it "lasting forever" and I kind of laugh to myself because the better I get, the more I use it situationally and recall it as soon as I can. People think it's doing all this healing during a team fight, but in reality right when you'd want it most is exactly when I'm most likely recalling it to prevent it getting destroyed right away.
Am absolutely in love with Illaris playstyle... 😍 I would be sad to see her 'nerfed'. Most of the time her massive amount of healing is just due to the other team failing to disable the pylon.
Or down to the other teams bad aim and failing to close a kill or down to them just peppering the tank constantly because they can only shoot the big one I think she needs a slight nerf. She gets her ult way too fast. Btw. I love her. She’s so good. I don’t want to play if I can’t be Illari at the moment 😂 I am getting total mayhem numbers of healing out with this girl
honestly as a former sym main as soon as i got on illari my third eye opened violently and i had a violent flashback to placing turrets and now i am a master at placing down pylon in the best positions for its safety
She is. People are like “her ult is too powerful”. Yeah until you dip to cover or shoot her out of the sky when she goes to do it or shoot her straight after she shoots it or you block it with a rein shield or Orisa spin or DVA matrix or cleanse its effects on wraith away or zarya bubble it before or after or sigma shield it or Winston bubble it or (you get the idea). Her ult can get eaten by almost every tank and yesterday I hit her ult on 3 people, I headshot one of them and mercy had her beam on them and the explosion just didn’t kill then so I just got stopped dead there. What Illari does is she forces people to actually work together or she just takes over. She’s actually completely broken against uncoordinated teams. Half the games I take her into it’s “tank diff” when my tank has a turret behind them and me beaming them round a corner, tracking enemy abilities and resources and engaging when supports burn theirs and their teams just running like idiots and shooting my tank/hard feeding me ult charge off the healing output She needs an ult charge nerf though. I’m getting one every other team fight
@@reifenrir It's not her weapon that's the problem. Go up against a one-shot Hanzo that's across the map or a Widow. She needs at least two headshots to take out a squishy and they can wipe her out in a headshot. If I were the devs the only thing I'd change about her is the Ult charge time. Her Ult can end a team fight and comes up way too many times in a game. That said, there's a lot of counters to her Ult too that the community hasn't adjusted to yet. I got my Ult eaten by a D Va the other day. I think Suzu wipes it out and Zarya's bubble. Plus you still have to kill the enemy for it to do much. DPS mains don't like it when they're not guaranteed a kill in a 1v1 with a support and that doesn't make the game fun for supports.
I've been playing a lot of Paladins lately, and as a Ying main Illari makes me very happy. I don't have Overwatch currently but hopefully I'll get to try her out sometime soon.
I think what they would have to nerf about Illari is the Ult costs. For such a powerful ult, it charges up way too fast because she can heal a lot and deal a lot of damage at the same time.
I think the ult charge rate will naturally slow as people get better about destroying her turret, but if the charge rate got nerfed it would likely still be fine. It IS a powerful ult, but there are plenty of counters to it too, and once people get better at using them the ult will feel more like every other ult where you rarely expect a team kill and instead are happy enough just taking out one key person.
Another cool tech to Outburst is using it to prevent an enemy from escaping. Positioning yourself so that when they want to retreat you knock them back into your team is SO satisfying, almost as much fun as when you bait someone into chasing you near an edge you can knock them off for an environment kill.
I feel like the only thing that could use some tuning is her ultimate. It definitely needs a charge rate nerf as it feels like you have it every 20 seconds, other than that I think this is a really well balanced character and the team did a great job overall in her design and gameplay
I wouldn't be surprised based on player complaints, but honestly I don't think they are needed. Now that people are punishing the pylon more consistently her healing is down to the same kind of level as every other support, which has also slowed her ult charge rate. Her ult is 100% fine as is, because while it has the potential to be strong, there actually are several really good ways to survive it, or negate it outright (not to mention people are just naturally better at seeking cover when they hear the ult line and better about scattering and not chaining explosions.) I 100% think that by the time the mid season is upon us, players will have adapted well enough to her to leave her as is. Give her a token nerf to ult charge rate, or a token nerf to the right click recharge if she fully drains it. I'd be fine with it being more punishing if it means leaving it's power untouched. Turret and ult should be left 100% as is, as they are balanced as it is.

Honestly hope they don't change anything about her. I haven't played her myself, but I have played with supports as her and against them, and both feel great. Useful without any annoying or OP interactions.
I find that I rarely use it right away in a fight if I can avoid it. I'll focus on right click heals, and once the fight is more under way and the enemy is hopefully tunnel visioned into whoever they are shooting at, then I'll deploy it while they are distracted. Also, everyone expects Illari to place the turret behind her and her team to make it difficult to engage into, even though there are flank routes that make getting behind you pretty easy. Instead, if the two teams are fighting close together, try to sneakily deploy it over the enemy team's head, because they rarely if ever look over their own head and even more rarely do they look behind themselves and up lol. And even if they DO know it's there they will NOT want to take their eyes off you team to look up or behind as that would mean leaving themselves kind of wide open.
I'm curious if she'll get any changes. I personally think her turret is ridiculous. Not it's healing even just how you can position it where enemies cant even touch it and have such a huge healing advantage over other team. It's like a pocket pocket-mercy heal honestly.

This is 100% a skill issue, but Illari being able to self heal with the pylon makes her a monster in 1v1s in the metal ranks. Bro we are NOT good enough to kill her in a 1v1 when she's got the self heal, support passive, and the escape ability. Even if it takes her longer, she's the best metal rank dps rn
This isn't much different than what Moira can do in 1v1s against squishies in metal ranks, though, and it's arguably going to be easier to do that with Moira instead of Illari if you're relatively unskilled.
Yep I absolutely hate her ultimate, it shouldn’t be on her it should be on a new dps hero, support ults are fun because they provide big game changing utility, her ult is boring for a support
We are gonna get a lot of ilari players who think they are widow/ashe and totally forget placing the pylon or heal beam. The pylon does need a nerf, its busted like a torb/sym turret
@@Siks7Ate9 that’s the case with Mercy too.. her flying around while healing a hero you got like 1000 damage on.. just have to game plan for it like all things
@Marinate433 I can kill people through a mercy pocket by forcing the mercy away or chasing her. I can't force a turret away. I can also kill the mercy, and that's more value anyway if I invested like 4 seconds instead of 3. The turret is back 13 seconds later and I'll again have to spend my 8 second shield cooldown +3 seconds of shooting a turret. And that's with just killing 2 turrets. Meanwhile illari can headshot me and still heal about twice as much that I can do damage for.
@Marinate433 no I can't, because putting pressure on a mercy may secure the elim or else make her unable to pocket someone else who then dies. Putting pressure on the mercy is value able because she isnt healing someone or damage boosting during that period. That makes that person isolated. The turret takes me literally 3 seconds to kill to even be able to kill anything through the available healing. We are talking about a stationary turret that takes me literally 3 seconds to kill and because its most likely in the middle of their team I'm doing nothing that's essentially useful except be able to charge my ult if I ignore the turret and go for damage. However the illari's will also charge her ult faster and her ult is just straight up better. Also if I don't kill the turret, it provides enough healing that the supports can essentially wait for a good bit to heal someone. During that time they can also dps me. Ill take inceased damage for a bit of ult charge that's essentially not useful because their ults are just better and charge faster I think as well.
If you haven't already figured out how to kill her turret that's on you. If you haven't figured out how to deny her ult value, that is also on you. You have all the tools needed to deal with her exactly as is.
I find her boring as a support main. She has a boring kit and no playmaking ability. You stand by a heal turret and try headshotting people. Ana is still so much more fun.
@@redram6080I can agree with this very much so. I'm a diamond 4 DPS main, I struggle a lot as support as a Gold 4 currently trying to improve. I love Ana and Kiriko the most, yet this new character catches my interest and attention from the time I pick her to the time the match is over.

Their aim should be inconsistent af too, esp with Illari.
Try Cas he eats her alive in 1v
This isn't much different than what Moira can do in 1v1s against squishies in metal ranks, though, and it's arguably going to be easier to do that with Moira instead of Illari if you're relatively unskilled.
I feel like she was made as a dps then decided to add support abilities. Her ult should be on a dps. Literally nothing support like about it
Yep I absolutely hate her ultimate, it shouldn’t be on her it should be on a new dps hero, support ults are fun because they provide big game changing utility, her ult is boring for a support
Small note: Illari is pronounced like ee-yah-rree.
Great video!
Atlast! now aimbotters can play as support!
Yup I watch ml7 every single morning. By far the best “support “ not healer to watch in the game
Here before her nerf😂
illari zen meta incoming
i thought her name was pronounced “iL-yah-ri”
“Balanced” lolz…Jesus
I feel that she is fairly balanced but she builds ult too fast and her pylon is a bit too strong imo.
ill-E-R-E
We are gonna get a lot of ilari players who think they are widow/ashe and totally forget placing the pylon or heal beam. The pylon does need a nerf, its busted like a torb/sym turret
the primary fire sucks
Play ANYTHING like ML7 [TL/DR]: Don't miss a single shot!
everybody wants Her to get nerfed lol she fun to play and I just really don't mind playing against her, just let us enjoy things lol
I mean as winston it takes me 3 seconds just to destroy her pylon that's on the ceiling. I cant kill anything through her healing before I die.
@@Siks7Ate9 develop a new strategy that’s the point.. they will adjust but if you can chase a mercy, you can destroy a fixed turret
She's gonna get nerfed so hard
Yeah calling her relatively balanced is just a furphy lol
You gotta be wilfully ignorant to call her balanced @@paulvenn4447
If you haven't already figured out how to kill her turret that's on you. If you haven't figured out how to deny her ult value, that is also on you. You have all the tools needed to deal with her exactly as is.
You're really funny@@jackobatgaming
@@umbralowl Tell ya what, explain to me what you are having trouble with against her and I'll tell you how to deal with it.
Nvidia? pass. I have enough greedy anti-consumer companies that want my money. Blizzard comes to mind.
too skillful for me lifewaer is better fpr me
I hate this hero. OP at launch intentionally just to sell battle passes and won't get any significant nerfs until next season
I find her boring as a support main. She has a boring kit and no playmaking ability. You stand by a heal turret and try headshotting people. Ana is still so much more fun.
She's a character that is less meant for support mains and more for DPS mains who want to play support every once in a while.
Skill issue
@@whatisthis9951 boring issue
@@redram6080I can agree with this very much so. I'm a diamond 4 DPS main, I struggle a lot as support as a Gold 4 currently trying to improve. I love Ana and Kiriko the most, yet this new character catches my interest and attention from the time I pick her to the time the match is over.
Love your content! Un subbing because overwatch is a dead game to me i wont be revisiting. Blizz is no longer a company i can give money too or play their games, or now watch content about. Good luck in life!
LOL "Balanced"
I find it so funny getting this overview from u ... a literal noob instead of ML7 directly.
I mean you surely got my click by putting ML7 in the title ... but you definitely didn't earn it.
ML7 should copyright strike this video
I dont even know who ml7 is
Neither do I. Nor do I care
He's gotten rank 1 support multiple times and has been streaming this game as a support player for years. He also has a cat that's very cute.
This game is super dead lol why bother
I'd rather play her professionally. Ml7 isn't a player anyone should look up to.
Why?
ML7 is not good
Dude is a Top 500 support 💀
Lol I know this is bait but you know the only reason he wasn’t an Overwatch League player was because he used to boost people by playing on their account in the very early days of the game.
@KJ_6991 He also doesn't want to. He can play in any contenders team if he likes. He doesn't want to because of the time investment vs the rewards.
He's indeed not just good, he's actually great.
