"Not enough superchargers in L.A."- Girl we have none of them in my country Update: we have 2 now. Update 2: we have 5 now, damn Elon must have heard me.
price reductions on the car in general are usually due to improvements and refinements in the manufacturing process that make it cheaper to produce. so you guys who complain that you had to buy it for more, its because your particular car cost more to make, so deal with it. thats how most mass production products work. if i go buy an xbox the day it launches, its going to be more expensive then when its been out a few years. its just how things work. its the price you pay to have the latest and greatest.
If i did the same "see how many teslas you can spot in a minute" on a highway here in Oslo (Norway) i would probably reach 100. I swear at least 1 out of every 10 cars on the roads here is a Tesla it seems.
can somebody explain why would turn it off? I have the AC set on auto to the temperature all year long, so you just start the car and wait and that's it. No need to fiddle aroung with fan speeds etc. If it's not going full blast right away it means that there is no point in doing so. I really don't get it :P also, setting the temperature to LOW instead of 70 will not make the car cooler any faster...
Good video! Some feedback: 1. Superchargers really should only be used for long road trips and not really tooling around town but given you charge via a standard outlet can see the need for a quick fill. But as an owner with in apartment charging, I would not own a tesla if I couldn't charge at home or at least at work. 2. Regarding car washes, those micro scratches will happen with any car even with hand washing. Black unfortunately makes them stand out more but if you wax your car twice a year they should cover those right up! 3. For the AC, if you weren't aware if you hold down the fan button it'll turn on/off the AC without you having to go into the pull up menu. So really just hold down button and lower temp to whatever you are at and keep AC on auto. I find its worked wonderfully for me. good video!
@@MichaelWellman1955 hey let's not be mean Tesla owners. Tesla pitches them as a fast way to charge. Unless you dive into articles and forums or Internet comments it's easy to see why someone might think that's just how you charge (had a friend investigating Tesla's unaware of it as well)
Haters can hate on this girl, but I thought she did a pretty darn good job of describing a lot of nit-picky things that some of us would like to know about. I gave her a TU. Good job girl.
@@joeking433 lol 💚🙂 True that. I got a order for a model 3. I think it is the best electric car out there. BUT that does not mean it is a great car. Its a good car.
@@LeGo-zk1xf they don't clean the brushes so it traps dirt and other junk from other cars. You'll get swirl marks by going to an automatic car wash that uses brushes.
The AC isn’t an issue. Put it on “auto” and all you have to do is change the temp, which you can do as a voice command so you don’t have to look at the screen at all 👍🏻
I worked at tesla for four years. There’s no need to hand wash. That’s a lie but they are prone to water leaks especially in the trunk, left side and the front firewall. The touchscreen does get annoying when trying to do simple tasks. A few knobs would be nice, like a/c or just changing the radio. When the wheel caps were first put on we thought they were just covers to protect the car during manufacturing cause the wheels underneath looks so much better. We were shocked to find out they were actually part of the car.
This video kinda swayed me out of buying a Tesla. For me personally those down sides like the easy scrapes and the thing about the tires.. that is kind of a big deal for me. Buying a car that can only be hand washed? And I live in the desert... yeah no
You can take it to a car wash and have a machine do it but it has the same issue as ant other car meaning if you're trying not to get the swirls in your paint then you have to do things to protect it better. It doesn't matter if it is a regular car or a Tesla people recommend getting the clear protector professionally installed. But if you're swayed against a Tesla then keep your ey on the EV market because over the next year there are going to be some cool ones coming out.
Most people don't use superchargers regularly, they charge at home where they park for the night. If you couldnt do that, I dont think you should get a tesla.
Right and she makes it sound like there’s always a wait at the supercharger around the world . Wrong. Just bc she lives in Los Angles one of the busiest and overcrowded city in the US.
@@Anonymous-if9mp so why is she complaining about the lack of superchargers? for she lives in LA so she can recharge it everynight at home and not take someone's spot at SC that needs it more than her
Superchargers are essentially “abused”. They’re really for long distance trips. People have free supercharging and they’re using them for every day driving. Really I don’t think EVs are for people who can’t charge where they live (yet). That being said the stations around Charlotte where I live hardly have more than 2 or so cars at any given time.
@Jen I can't charge at home, but where I live (Amsterdam SouthEast), chargers are quite far away. The government will probably install one here eventually, but not this year. So @Stephan for me superchargers are actually a once a week affair out of necessity and time restraint
@@Leispada Tesla chargers are a service you paid for already! Twice. When you bought the car and when your taxes subsidised the company's existence. Tesla is a company not a convent of charitable marthyrs. Think a little dude. Don't be such an exploitable fool.
All car dealerships price their cars differently every single day depending on negotiating skills of the customers. Tesla just does it so transparently and doesn’t change price depending on person
Ah, I usually drive off after the 90 seconds it takes to refuel mine, then I have either 800 kilometer, or 900 kilometer, or sometimes 1000 kilometer range. That is 600 miles. Of course, sometimes it takes only 60 seconds to refuel, depending on how much is left.
here's a blunt version of this video if you're considering buying a tesla: - if you don't have the convenience of home charging, then EVs should be reconsidered. you're wasting time (and money) if you have to rely on supercharging or public chargers. that's not to say that it's not doable, but be aware of how much time you'd be wasting if you have a 9-5 job with no work or home charging. time is money. - use ONR and the 2 bucket method when washing your car. it's fast, efficient, and sustainable. and don't buy a black car because swirl marks and scratches can be seen easily. - price changes are inevitable. no one gets mad when dealerships change their prices on an hourly basis but when tesla does it everyone goes crazy???
If a person lived in an apartment and was thinking of getting an EV they should download the Plugshare app and look for charging spots near them. I have Superchargers North, South, and East of me. Two are at grocery stores and the third is at a casino with restaurants. There are four destination chargers near me that I have never used. One shopping mall near me now has 8 free level 2 chargers and another one has 4. There is a parking garage with a bunch of chargers, but only the first 30 minutes is free, and two nearby hospitals, a grocery store and a pharmacy have chargers where an hour will get you 40 miles and cost a dollar or so. For non Tesla people, Electrify America has recently built fast chargers at my local Target and a nearby Walmart. Tesla people could buy a Chademo adapter, and European Tesla people can buy a CCS adapter to use non-Tesla fast chargers. I charged my car at my Mom's house from a wall outlet when I was on vacation. It's all about how creative a person wants to be. Definitely easiest to charge at home while you are sleeping, or at work.
As someone who’s owned the car for a year I just want to clarify two things. You don’t need a hand wash every time. Normal car wash works just fine but a hand wash is better on the paint. Also, waterless wash doesn’t scratch your paint. Are you dropping the towel on the ground and picking up dirt? Don’t use a towel that’s been on the ground to wash your car. Lastly, you can easily just click the scroll wheel and say “turn on AC” or “set AC to lo” and it will do it all without you needing to do anything on the screen
Yeah this is really misinformed. Put it in neutral, turn off the wipers. Not exactly rocket science. I take my wife's though the wash all the time with literally no issues...
@@jamesmac6353 Brushless washes don't work well though. They're fine if you need to dust your car but at that point you could just spray your car with a hose.
1. Just give yourself a little more space using the side mirror auto-tilt when parking/reversing. You can also adjust the auto-tilt to view the wheel and its distance to the curb. 2. Press right button on wheel for voice control. Ask the car to set A/C to low. Or temperature you find comfortable. *Side Note* Voice control has a lot of features, and can eliminate most reasons you might need to take your eyes of the road to look at the screen.
for the AC part, you could use the voice and say something like "18 degrees" and the car would turn on the AC and set it to 18 degrees no matter what temperature it was at, which could be done easily while driving. Saying "warmer" or "cooler" would set the AC 1.5 degrees up or down. This works on the wiper and side mirrors too.
I had driven more than 5,000 miles with Tesla especially 3,000 well Tesla tomorrow 3 different versions. Other than all of the points you talked about, One thing I hate is the sunroof that cannot be closed when wanted especially under the hot sun. My family was complaining on the trip from LA to San Francisco under the 2:00 p.m. sun. They just don't like a giant sunglass when we could simply close it like a Volkswagen ID4 or most of the cars that are being made with a panoramic roof it will be able to have an option to shut the glass fully.
Just a heads-up regarding the car washes.. don't use automatic ones even when you can. They will destroy your paint with scratches. The bristles never get washed and they get full of debris that scratches your paint on contact.
@@dustey_4553 Google swirl marks on car paint.. shine a light on your paint in the dark and see if you have any. It's likely it's not too bad after just once, but over time it will dull your car's paint and cut through your clear coat. If it's bad and you want to get it fixed, contact a detailer and enquire about a polish. They will be able to advise on proper car care 😊
I like the lowering of the prices it means they can make everything better for cheaper allowing more people the ability to experience a Tesla and thus getting closer to there goal of pushing the world away from gas and it’s bad emissions not just giving wealthy people a new luxury car
It's not as green as people think. All the electricity to charge the thing is from non renewable sources like coal. Also think of how bad the line to charge will be with hundreds of people waiting an hour to charge their car.
That's the goal But to get to that point, Elon needs to build huge factories with rich people's money so they can produce a cheaper model After the cybertruck and the roadster, I'd imagine the next budget car will be more affordable Unfortunately, it takes some time to make new technology affordable for us regular people
John V You know there is something called other countries that relies on stuff called «green energy» rather than only thinking North America is the exclusive buyer. Fix the politics and you will fix America.
I've noticed that with a high gloss finish, once a car has gone through a couple of passes with the spinning brushes, there are zillions of little scratches from the ends of the bristles. In the car washes which just have the strips of soap filled cloth, not so much, but dirt lodged in the cloth can leave scratches. OK, OK, OK, you won't see them from a couple of feet away, but they are cumulative. I just go to the local hand sprayer, rinse with the "deionize" water, and give it a rinse and chamois when I get home. How long will I do this? Don't know. Haven't bought a new car since 1970. Guess it's just new car fever. I will do the uber hand wash and put the ceramic coat on it, though. That deep shiny red is awful purty.
Daniel Meade it's because it's Black. Black is the softest paint, unless it's a metallic Black. The fibers will scratch it easily, even white after 50+ car washes will show fine scratching.
You can get Wheel Rash Rings they are very discreet and stick out just past the edge of your rims and come in different colors black, blue and red being the most common. When you hip a curb you scrape the ring instead of destroying your expensive rims and they should be standard equipment on all cars.
1) Supercharger wait times are reasonable/nonexistent outside of LA (no wait times where we live in Tacoma, WA but maybe more near Seattle) 2) Try to find a “brushless car wash”! We have one near our house and it works great - no damage to the paint or battery. 3) Can attest to the curb rash. Paint also chips easily but Tesla sells a paint kit to fix large chips 👍🏼 Mainly putting this here to help people considering buying a Tesla. But Shelby did a great job explaining her concerns and the videography is always on point!
The Supercharger in Lynnwood WA is the only one I have found to be consistently busy and even have wait times sometimes. It's a busy area an a lot of new apartments are nearby. I think the busy Superchargers are mostly in California because most of the cars are there. I've driven across the country and often am the only car charging, but amusingly sometimes if you meet people at a Supercharger, you will meet them at the next one and the one after that until some of them get to their destination. I use a waterless wash and wax and some shop towels and it keeps my car clean and it seems to protect the paint a little. I had a black car and a white car and found both to look dirty very quickly. My Tesla is Titanium Metallic, aka Sand, aka Beige which I don't think they even have anymore.
I've had my Model S for 5 years. I drove from San Diego to Va Beach (~3k miles and 30 supercharger stations) in December 2015 (when there weren't nearly as many SC stations). I've driven between Va Beach and St. Augustine FL 3 times (~700 miles one way and 5 supercharger stations each way). I've NEVER had to wait for a supercharger stall.
Dude, she's driving a Tesla, not a Lamborghini. Tesla's aren't even that expensive. There are Fords that are more expensive, and you save more money with Tesla's because they don't use gas.
Just a trait of the California English dialect lexicon... The up inflection is called a high rising terminal and has a number of pragmatic uses, including confirming that the interlocutor follows what is being said and indicating that the speaker has more to say. The word "like" is used as a discourse marker to allow time to formulate what to say next. All typical traits of the southern california 'valley girl' regional accent. Just like how New Englanders have their own unique accent of English, but that doesn't make anything 'wrong' about it.
@@wyndstormsage728 Ah, I think you must be the reincarnation of Henry Higgins the phonetics professor from 'My Fair Lady'. I'm not as bombastically dogmatic as Henry, I'm not saying these traits are wrong, just annoying (especially when spoken by 'valley girls'). Anyway, thanks for the analysis :-)
@ In that case "like" is being used as a as a colloquial quotative, which is used to indicate that what follows is not necessarily an exact quotation of what was said, but captures the meaning and intention of the quoted speech. The speaker is indicating that they may or may not have literally said those words. It's also known as quotation through simile. But if all they literally say is "I was like", without anything after, then that would just be an incomplete sentence.
@@gameworkerty …. in The Valley. 'They' should have kept it there. The current "buzzword" I believe, is "containment", but I fear it's too late. It has now spread world-wide on the wings of trash TV and films. You said a pragmatic use was "confirming that the interlocutor follows what is being said and indicating that the speaker has more to say". However, I would suggest this shows a lack of confidence in the speaker, and from what I have read and seen reported in Global media, lack of confidence is not the American way.
Your Tesla Model 3 is “not” restricted from use at a drive through carwash. You simply need to place the car in “neutral” to allow it to roll on the conveyor at the carwash. To put your car in “N” (neutral) you need to use the right stalk. Hold it in the up position for two seconds and your screen will indicate “N” and you can roll into any carwash. Problem solved! 😉 Also, it’s not your fault that you got curb rash on your wheels while parking. I did the exact same thing and I realize now that it’s because the backup cameras give you a false impression of how close you actually are from the curb. If you want it removed, I found a reputable guy that does mobile rim repairs. He charged me $100 and it literally looks like it never happened. Keep up the excellent RUclips posts! Perhaps I’ll see you at a local Supercharger. 😊

@Joey Diaz I'm confused. I own a Tesla. LA has some of the highest taxes in the country and the most unfriendly business state (Note recent news of high-level companies departing.) As with my previous response to the gentleman @joey diaz, he didn't respond when I confronted him with an articulate, educated message in response to his off-color comment. Lets see if you have the professionalism to acknowledge when one is mistaken: Witty, one-off reactive comments aren't well thought out typically. First, I'm confused by your comment. I did move from LA after a decade of living there. I encourage you to always ask questions before responding in life. It's professional. Even artists should know that. Secondly, you say the population of LA is greater than texas. Are you comparing a city and a state? If so I'm confused. Texas has a population of over 20 million. LA has only 8.5 million. What city are you referring to? Or, did you think Texas was a city? I can think of a dozen cities with restaurants, some have beaches, and tourist locations. Spot on! Agree 100%.. coming from 2yr old model 3 owner, on all counts. Btw, please do try “voice commands”.. removes touchscreen from the equation. And black exterior does show dirt sooo easily..
I’ve got a model 3, love it but here are some actual disadvantages of the car from someone who can actually drive: 1. The body kit is made of aluminium and some other cheap materials so it will dent easy. If you’re leasing keep this in mind because you will be paying for the repairs at the end of the lease. 2. The number plates are stuck on with cheap bolts, look cheap, and the rear one rattles when you close the boot. You can buy vinyl number plates online for about £30 that look way better. 3. The centre console has a gloss finish which looks really terrible after it has attracted fingerprints and dirt. It’s a nightmare to keep clean. Recommend you buy a matte vinyl wrap online, costs again about £30. 4. Floormats don’t cover the entire floor which means little stones will find their way into the sides and annoy you. A decent set of floor mats cost about £150 bespoke made for the model 3. 5. If you don’t want the plastic alloy covers you have to pay extra for the wheel nut covers. Personal preference but be aware they’re not free. Cost about £25 I think. 6. You have more headroom in the car but this is because they have lowered the seats. You will see when you sit in the back, your knees are higher than usual, and can be uncomfortable on long journeys. 7. The boot light and the door lights use really cheap low power LED bulbs. You can buy better ones online, and if you look at RUclips videos of people who upgraded them, you will see how big the difference is. Still the best value for money car on the market right now and with Tesla’s economy of scale strategy, they will only get cheaper to buy.
Well done on a great review. I’m a car nut and have watched hundreds of Tesla reviews and not ONE car journalist has given any of these tips. Great job!
Shelby Church (after some days): How my Tesla made more money than it cost where she will explain about the revenue she generated from the Tesla videos 😅😂
One of my first thoughts as well, actually a really good idea. If she averages a million hits on each video, assuming she is monotizing her videos, she needs to make between 15-20 videos and the car is paid for.
You have the 18 inch Aero wheels. Switch to the 19 inch performance wheels and they will raise your car by 1/2 inch, 20 inch wheels will raise you car 1 inch. Do either one of these modifications and your car will no longer scrape.
@LotusLambo 235/45/18 vs 235/45/20 will not have the same height ratio. Maybe you should do your research before you post. There are different size tires that can be purchased and a 235/45/20 will not give a harsh ride like a low profile 235/30/20 tire.
@LotusLambo It is 235/30/20 and here is a link tiresize.com/tiresizes/235-30R20.htm What you fail to have any intelligence on is that she cannot continue to scrape her battery pack on the incline. In all EVs the battery pack is the most expensive part of the car. Raising the car 1 inch by installing 235/45/20 tires could possibly save her thousands in repairs. The price for a Model 3 battery pack start at $8,000 and up. If she has passengers in the car when it scrapes it will be worse. Since your utter stupidity and lack of any common sense seems to elude you here is another link to educate yourself. Go there and type in 235/45/18 and 235/45/20 tiresize.com/comparison/ You will see that the 235/45/20 is 2 inches taller than the 235/45/18 but since the wheel hub is in the center of the wheel that makes it 1 inch taller. I cant fix stupid but I can try.
If you have to wait hours in the queue and another one and a half hours for charging, for that only reason does not make sense to buy a car powered by a battery. I see it as a huge issue, better to have a petrol car because of its reliability and easy service. In the winter time your ability to charge at -40 degree celsius is going to be made impossible, and your range greatly reduced by 40%, and you never can trust the highly flammable battery because when it catches fire is very hard to extinguish. The batteries are likely to fail if they get often hot, and replacement is expensive.
MrLM002 or get a model S or X with air suspension. You can raise and lower any time and eventually it remembers locations where you raise and it will do it automatically
It's basically shallow people with very little clue on outside world and lack of education really. Their opinions come from echo chambers like FB, Twitter, Reddit etc.
White was 1000 dollars extra and black was included in price. That´s why she chose black color. And she was complaining that after she bought Tesla the colour pricing went around. She would wanted white, but did´t want to pay extra 1000 dollars.
Red is a 2500 upgrade. I chose Grey but cancelled delivery when a Blue became available. Blue is superb with dark tint. White looks very plain, Black is high maintenance
kip meneer still worth it in the Netherlands. You can go max 100 km/h on the highway, so performance isn’t really needed + you can go from any province to Amsterdam and back with the long range.
I have the SR+ and sometimes wish I had gotten the long range and then remember the cost difference. For me, the additional 70 miles isn’t worth it. I recently drove from Atlanta to Miami and had no issues with charging/finding chargers. The trip cost me $5.60 in tolls and $0 in charging.
Matthew Huszarik good 2 know. I live in a 3rd world country ( Vietnam) where law makers/politicians only care about their wallet not the environment. So the whole country has less than 10 Tesla/E.V. And our top cities are even more polluted than Chinese ones... so sad
When ever I purchased a car I always installed a protective film over the car even if the car has protective paint ... it always helps with debree and scratches on the car
Let me tell you this...I was homeless for 16 years as a refugee. 10 days after coming to the US, I bought myself my dream car Tesla. So, know that if you keep working hard, you will get there!
I'm guessing it is because a lot of U.S. car washes require the car to be in Neutral gear so that it rolls through the car wash on a conveyor belt like system.
Yeah, from the manually the import thing is that the carwash be touchless: "Caution: If washing in an automatic car wash, use Touchless car washes only. These car washes have no parts (brushes, etc.) that touch the surfaces of Model 3. Using any other type of car wash could cause damage that is not covered by the warranty."
It's a liability to Machine car wash places in risk of the car going on fire. Therefore, they are only allow per the car wash insurance they can only perform hand wash.
Wow, I mean... it is not even allowed to wash your car by hand on the street in The Netherlands. So you have to powerwash and hand wash your car. Weird. Also you have rollover carwashes, your car is stationary and the carwash rolls back and forth over your car. Also not allowed? Man, they must really have no faith in the paint job on that Tesla...🤨

Definitely a lot of Tesla’s in LA. We make a game of counting them. Just took a trip to Sams Club in Torrance and counted 16 during our 3.9 mile trip (our Tesla not included)
We’ve had zero maintenance costs. No oil to change, no belts, etc... Definitely cheaper than Ny gas powered cars. With regenerative braking the brakes last forever. So far we’ve only charged it an filled the windshield washer fluid a couple times. It’s been amazing!,
You Wish no radiator so no coolant but tires eventually. Never had any issues and can’t see brake fluid ever being an issue since mostly you use the regenerative braking. I just ordered the Model 3 and it silver and black interior. I didn't want black because the color is cool, but just too hard to keep clean. I love washing my own cars so that would save me money to super charge. Your vid was great. Thank you! :)
#7: Solution: Charge at home. #6: Not a problem for most people. It's higher than my old Chevy Cruze. #5: Life's short, just use a regular car wash and don't worry about micro scratches. #4: LOVE THE WHEELS!!! #3: Yep, curb rash is a real problem. #2: AC can be tricky, but not a huge deal #1: At least the price is what you pay unlike haggling with dealers.
@Shelby about the road rash, I also did it to my model 3 that I bought in December after two weeks of owning it. I was able to fix it for about $60 by using a Kit from amazon. It takes about an hour and it should look as good as new. Especially if you get a color that matches the wheels. And the kit can be used many times so it is worth the money. But of course I didn’t do it again because I am aware of the design flaw of the wheels at this point. And I also installed a 240v plug in my garage for about $70 plus $35 adapter for the model 3 charger. You will be able to top off the battery in about 4 to 5 hours. Best of luck
Love my car! 2021 white included. Just got my LR model 3 in nyc traveled to parks and loved driving on the highway. My condo is charging it for me I was worried about the bottom. Love the original wheels. I’ll watch out for tire rash. The screen is automatic for me. I just got in with a $2000 rebate a day before it ended. Thank you Tesla for getting me in on time I love the updates and the self driving on the highway in traffic!!!
Hey Shelby, did you get and download the latest update? My 3 got Version 2019.40.50.7 recently - Guess what? NOW we can control HVAC and wipers and even open the glovebox by VOICE! - It's very cool. The release notes for the update tell us a few commands it can do - but owners are discovering lots of things that Tesla didn't even tell us about - LIKE THE WIPER CONTROLS! - All by voice! Please tell your viewers that Tesla sends us lots of firmware updates over the air and our cars are constantly getting better and cooler! - I'm having fun with My Model 3 just experiencing new voice commands every day....Maybe I can press the steering wheel button and say: "Buy me a Hazelnut latte!" and it'll do it?!
In my experience, so far, supercharger usage is for people on a road trip. Recently I took a trip from Pittsburgh to Tampa and back, and there was always a Supercharger available.
I'm guessing a lot of folks that live in apartments or rented houses where they can't just install a charger are using them. Also the occasional RUclipsr that's gotten enough referrals to cover a trip to the moon and back. ;)
Rookie Budget Fishing isn’t it the outside of the car that just can’t deal with the pressure washers and everything? Sorry I don’t know cars I’m just confused
Molly I would think if the paint is that bad then yeah that makes sense. But my train of thinking is that maybe because of all the collision sensors and the fact that it requires the car in neutral to drive thru it that presents an issue...
I use an express wash (H2Go to be precise) and it works just fine. Dunno why people think it has to be hand washed. Maybe cause they think Tesla owners are rich and gullible?
@@carloscruz7317 there's nothing about the sensors that makes car washes an automatic no go. And neutral isn't any different than any other car if you have your seat belt on. Now, if it's a car wash where you don't ride through in the car, you're right it is a little different then.
I feel like they could be up selling you with the whole you need to hand wash it. I go to a drive through wash (soapy joes) and haven’t noticed any scratches or anything wrong with the paint. I’ve had my model 3 since June of 2019, so roughly 7 months now and paint still looks new. Just my thoughts
Could be upselling but it is very likely it is getting scratched. Paint swirls are a minor detail and many people will never even notice it. It happens to every car and you will see it if you look across the surface with a light or when it is sunny. People notice it on teslas because it is a topic often brought up
Any car will get swirls by using the drive thru wash. It's a fantasy to think that Tesla's require more careful washing. They don't, unless you want your Tesla to have a new car finish forever. Might as well not drive it at all. That will keep the paint looking fresh!

Heh Back in the 50s they had curb feelers for cars. They were basically flexible metal rods that stick out near your wheels like cat whiskers. When you got to close to the curb you could hear this thing scrape the curb first before your tires hit. You can still buy them today. Maybe attach some to the Tesla.
Actually some really good points made. Some things not mentioned by other seasoned car tubers. Like the ride height demo on the slope. Great review from England.
Energy is cheap although it can be higher than others in some areas. We use a lot of energy just leaving things plugged in and waste a lot throughout the year as Americans
Tends to be 1/4-1/5 the cost of what you were paying for gas and you no longer need oil changes twice a year. Some states have more expensive electricity then others though. I believe usa average electricity cost is 0.13$/kWh so if your area is near an eqaul cost or has off peak charging your going to save significant amounts.
You don’t have to hand wash it. We take ours (black, midrange model 3) to an automated wash probably once a week. If you’re going to do that though I’d recommend spending a bit of money has clear coating it, it prevents those micro abrasions in the paint. But yes you can go through a car wash 😊
Maybe the Car Wash people she is talking to are confusing it with a Model S or X which do have aluminium bodywork. From my understanding the Model 3 has a more conventional steel body.
I tell you we got about 20 new charging Tesla charging stations in a parking structure in Pasadena. I was so excited to hear about them. But there is one big catch. Where the charging stations are located are in a parking garage that charges an hourly parking fee. This sucks! But anyone that knows Pasadena, knows the city charges for everything. One thing I personally didn’t like about my Model 3 was the glass roof. During a hot day it’s like being in a green house. I bought sunshade covers that fixed this issue. Anyway no car is perfect, so no big deal. Over all I love my car.
Hmmm I’ve run my model 3 through several different automatic car washes without any problems - u just have to shift the car into neutral and turn off ur automatic wipers if u have them turned on
Hello Shelby...You were concerned about bottoming out your Tesla, going in/out of your garage...you can purchase a portable Speed Bump, which is made of very heavy duty rubber or plastic, which you can place wherever its appropriate, so you won't bottom out any more. Good luck!⚘
Awesome video. #6 is really bad. As a low ride sports car driver, I sympathize. I strongly recommend using cold asphalt and level strategically place it to avoid really damaging the rockers. i had to do that as well at a work place where leaving the parking space, small dip and front would rub. One bag of cold asphalt and my wheels were 1" higher leaving that parking spot and no more issues...#3 also a good one. Had an original 20" set that i really wanted to ditch leaving that dealership but friends convinced me to keep it. 12,000$ later in tires, two- three curb incidents, a replacement set etc i eventually went down one size, 19", 40 tyre options, not 3 as with the 20" and the bleeding stopped three years ago....

price reductions on the car in general are usually due to improvements and refinements in the manufacturing process that make it cheaper to produce. so you guys who complain that you had to buy it for more, its because your particular car cost more to make, so deal with it. thats how most mass production products work. if i go buy an xbox the day it launches, its going to be more expensive then when its been out a few years. its just how things work. its the price you pay to have the latest and greatest.

"Hey Tesla, turn AC on" would be cool
BEAST i think it already Works
That is actually possible
BEAST Yeah, you can turn it on via voice control.
Lol that’s like basic stuff in a Tesla
can somebody explain why would turn it off? I have the AC set on auto to the temperature all year long, so you just start the car and wait and that's it. No need to fiddle aroung with fan speeds etc. If it's not going full blast right away it means that there is no point in doing so. I really don't get it :P also, setting the temperature to LOW instead of 70 will not make the car cooler any faster...
Good video! Some feedback:
I find its worked wonderfully for me.
good video!

The AC isn’t an issue. Put it on “auto” and all you have to do is change the temp, which you can do as a voice command so you don’t have to look at the screen at all 👍🏻
Just keep the fan icon press for 2 seconds and the AC will turn on. If you want to turn it off just repeat the same process.
ah cool i did not see this when i was complaining about voice command. still need voice for my subaru though
Kennet Silva If you have it on auto, you don’t need to do this. It’s always “on”. Just change the temp to what you need via voice command.

Thanks for the insight, dude!

This video kinda swayed me out of buying a Tesla. For me personally those down sides like the easy scrapes and the thing about the tires.. that is kind of a big deal for me. Buying a car that can only be hand washed? And I live in the desert... yeah no
Yea, having to pay someone twice a week to hand wash your car seems excessive to me
You can take it to a car wash and have a machine do it but it has the same issue as ant other car meaning if you're trying not to get the swirls in your paint then you have to do things to protect it better. It doesn't matter if it is a regular car or a Tesla people recommend getting the clear protector professionally installed.
But if you're swayed against a Tesla then keep your ey on the EV market because over the next year there are going to be some cool ones coming out.

Diego Rens if you’re using a supercharger once a week I don’t consider you a part of the abuse problem.

Autopilot takes away any complaints. The thing drives itself. The end!
here's a blunt version of this video if you're considering buying a tesla:
- if you don't have the convenience of home charging, then EVs should be reconsidered. you're wasting time (and money) if you have to rely on supercharging or public chargers. that's not to say that it's not doable, but be aware of how much time you'd be wasting if you have a 9-5 job with no work or home charging. time is money.

A hand job is always better.
If she's wiping off tiny sand particles that will scratch the paint.

It's not as green as people think. All the electricity to charge the thing is from non renewable sources like coal. Also think of how bad the line to charge will be with hundreds of people waiting an hour to charge their car.

its total crap that you can’t use a express car wash, I worked at two car washes and plenty teslas came through without any issues.
Don't know. Haven't bought a new car since 1970. 1) Supercharger wait times are reasonable/nonexistent outside of LA (no wait times where we live in Tacoma, WA but maybe more near Seattle)
2) Try to find a “brushless car wash”! We have one near our house and it works great - no damage to the paint or battery.
3) Can attest to the curb rash. Paint also chips easily but Tesla sells a paint kit to fix large chips 👍🏼
Mainly putting this here to help people considering buying a Tesla.
Yeah, Lynnwood is the only supercharger where I had to wait. Was a Friday night and had 4 or 5 cars ahead of me.

Just got to hand it to Shelby, she has been able to eliminate using the word "like" every other word. Good job!
That's a start...... now to remove that annoying 'up inflection' at the end of sentences...……......
Also, it’s not your fault that you got curb rash on your wheels while parking. I did the exact same thing and I realize now that it’s because the backup cameras give you a false impression of how close you actually are from the curb. If you want it removed, I found a reputable guy that does mobile rim repairs. He charged me $100 and it literally looks like it never happened.

For the AC, just press and hold the fan icon and the AC comes on. Saves a few steps.
I’ve got a model 3, love it but here are some actual disadvantages of the car from someone who can actually drive:
👍👍👍👍👍🙏
Well done on a great review. I’m a car nut and have watched hundreds of Tesla reviews and not ONE car journalist has given any of these tips. Great job!

“It’s really easy to Scratch the wheel” bro what does this even mean? Just don’t get so close to the curb

Shelby Church (after some days): How my Tesla made more money than it cost where she will explain about the revenue she generated from the Tesla videos 😅😂
lol
One of my first thoughts as well, actually a really good idea. If she averages a million hits on each video, assuming she is monotizing her videos, she needs to make between 15-20 videos and the car is paid for.
I'm pretty sure the money she's made from her Tesla videos have more than covered the cost of the car. Maybe.
Graham stephan did exactly this. His tesla videos generated enough money to pay for the Tesla
You have the 18 inch Aero wheels. Switch to the 19 inch performance wheels and they will raise your car by 1/2 inch, 20 inch wheels will raise you car 1 inch. Do either one of these modifications and your car will no longer scrape.
@LotusLambo the wheel is still overall larger lol.
@LotusLambo before you make another stupid post, here is a link to a Model 3 with 235/35/20 tires and wheels ruclips.net/video/oTTXGQ95pu8/видео.html
Just an FYI, black cars a bound to get micro scratches in the paint, Tesla or not
Tesla is using cheap ass paint
If you have to wait hours in the queue and another one and a half hours for charging, for that only reason does not make sense to buy a car powered by a battery.
I see it as a huge issue, better to have a petrol car because of its reliability and easy service.
In the winter time your ability to charge at -40 degree celsius is going to be made impossible, and your range greatly reduced by 40%, and you never can trust the highly flammable battery because when it catches fire is very hard to extinguish.
The batteries are likely to fail if they get often hot, and replacement is expensive.
Yeah, the lack of ground clearance is the main thing that kept me from getting a Tesla. I need like 7 inches of ground clearance minimum.
How about Model Y?
Cybertruck?
I am just curious, why do you need 7 inches minimum ground clearance?
Philip Oatsvall to prevent damaging the front bumper when going over curbs or snowy climate.
MrLM002 or get a model S or X with air suspension. You can raise and lower any time and eventually it remembers locations where you raise and it will do it automatically
"I kinda wanted the white , I like black too, I like black and white, and the redish ,like really cool also "
This video has very little value because of this type of dialogue...disappointing. :(
It's basically shallow people with very little clue on outside world and lack of education really.
White looks very plain, Black is high maintenance
nah blue looks good
If you’re buying Tesla you need long range. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Not if your in a small country
kip meneer still worth it in the Netherlands. You can go max 100 km/h on the highway, so performance isn’t really needed + you can go from any province to Amsterdam and back with the long range.
I wish man, but that’s an extra $10k. Planning on getting SR+ for now, and then splurging on the Cybertruck.
Optimistically Negative then just buy a gas car lol if time is money. Only 1-2 minutes to fill up
OMG, I didnt know the aero wheel can be taken off. Thank you!
If you like to spot Tesla’s, visit The Netherlands. 🇳🇱
Matthew Huszarik good 2 know. I live in a 3rd world country ( Vietnam) where law makers/politicians only care about their wallet not the environment. So the whole country has less than 10 Tesla/E.V. And our top cities are even more polluted than Chinese ones... so sad
Not just Tesla. Kona , leaf, ... Allmost as worse ( kidding ) than in Oslo.
When ever I purchased a car I always installed a protective film over the car even if the car has protective paint ... it always helps with debree and scratches on the car
Ppf is a fantastic buy on a model 3
My friend clear bra's for a living...an entire car averages about $8-10k
A Tesla is my dream car(I like them all)😂White seating inside of a white tesla😁One day I will have one
Work hard keep following your dreams, I'm sure you will own it one day soon. Best of Luck !
same though
The model 3 is cheapest us it’s 32k after estimated savings
Let me tell you this...I was homeless for 16 years as a refugee. 10 days after coming to the US, I bought myself my dream car Tesla. So, know that if you keep working hard, you will get there!
So interesting and helpful, thank you for sharing!
Hand wash only? Tesla's in The Netherlands go in the carwash all the time...
I'm guessing it is because a lot of U.S. car washes require the car to be in Neutral gear so that it rolls through the car wash on a conveyor belt like system.
Yeah, from the manually the import thing is that the carwash be touchless:
"Caution: If washing in an automatic car
wash, use Touchless car washes only.
These car washes have no parts (brushes,
etc.) that touch the surfaces of Model 3.
Using any other type of car wash could
cause damage that is not covered by the
warranty."
@@JacobRochester0 I don't think your car is gonna get damaged.
Man, they must really have no faith in the paint job on that Tesla...🤨
yeah, i plan on getting a tesla. with my $5.

I see about 4 per year.
I live in a Canadian hick town, I think I've seen maybe 3 Teslas over the past decade :) There's a Chevy Bolt kicking around, though.
I live in la , I see at least 30 per day
I live in Romania and I see about one car per month;)
They’re all over Vegas
I've never seen one...
Thanks for making the video. I've had my Performance for a month and I love it 😁
You are supposed to charge at home and only use superchargers for long drives.
AaxeVENTURE those people are screwed.
And if you live in an apartment building what are you supposed to do? Use destination chargers?
AaxeVENTURE I was lucky. My last apartment had two charging spots. But I could have gone without since I have a Volt.
I charge mine at a super charge solely. It charges 4 miles per hour at home and I've got to run a long extension cord from the outlet to my car. So it isn't practical for me. I've had my car since September and I make it a habit to go to the super charger once a week. I live in LA . I have now learned the best times to go to the charger closest to my house to where I have little to no wait time, after a while it isn't so bad. I just head there with a book or something else to keep me occupied.
AaxeVENTURE almost every apartment complex in la has charging stations
It’s an amazing car an we will never again not own a Tesla. We have a gas powered vehicle also, but the Tesla is by far the best car we’ve ever owned
Shelby, I've gone through an automatic car wash a few times now in my Model 3 and haven't had any issues. Don't stress over it too much.
I just ordered the Model 3 and it silver and black interior. I didn't want black because the color is cool, but just too hard to keep clean. I love washing my own cars so that would save me money to super charge. Your vid was great. Thank you! :)
As tech. improve and they scale up, they are able to sell for less money, that's good because more people can afford it.
#2: AC can be tricky, but not a huge deal
#1: At least the price is what you pay unlike haggling with dealers.
What is a 240v plug? I've never heard of these before. Is it something you can buy?
Love my car! 2021 white included. Just got my LR model 3 in nyc traveled to parks and loved driving on the highway. My condo is charging it for me I was worried about the bottom. Love the original wheels. I’ll watch out for tire rash. The screen is automatic for me. I just got in with a $2000 rebate a day before it ended. Thank you Tesla for getting me in on time
I love the updates and the self driving on the highway in traffic!!!
Half off the commands in the Tesla doesn't work!
I’m baffled that LA doesn’t have more supercharger.
Same!
Lucas Millen Elon said that there will be more superchargers by the end of 2020 in LA
Not sf
Look at Tesla.com/supercharger the map shows about a dozen now with a couple more dozen coming this year. No doubt more next year.
It has a lot. But there is a large concentration there like 1 to 100 as opposed to 1 to 10 in smaller cities
In my experience, so far, supercharger usage is for people on a road trip. Recently I took a trip from Pittsburgh to Tampa and back, and there was always a Supercharger available.
I'm guessing a lot of folks that live in apartments or rented houses where they can't just install a charger are using them. Also the occasional RUclipsr that's gotten enough referrals to cover a trip to the moon and back. ;)
I wanted to quickly reach out and inform you that we currently have some

Is it just me but has anyone else seen like a lot of Tesla’s
not really , a whole lot of prius
Yeah. I don't have a problem with that
I see them a lot here In Maryland and DC
The car wash deal can be fixed by Tesla tomorrow. Just a software update.
Molly I’ve seen many people videos and they’re high pressure washing it at home.
"When it's so low to the ground it feels like a sports car" lmao that's the point
Ssst, don't mention that too much to SUV overs, becuase they might end up with roll-over-anxiety.
electroooooo garbooooooooo
So getting one when I live in a rural village is probably not smart
I feel like they could be up selling you with the whole you need to hand wash it. I go to a drive through wash (soapy joes) and haven’t noticed any scratches or anything wrong with the paint. I’ve had my model 3 since June of 2019, so roughly 7 months now and paint still looks new. Just my thoughts
HeyItzRyan same I think she doesn’t know how to put it in neutral
HeyItzRyan soapy joes ruined the paint on my car
Could be upselling but it is very likely it is getting scratched. Paint swirls are a minor detail and many people will never even notice it. It happens to every car and you will see it if you look across the surface with a light or when it is sunny. People notice it on teslas because it is a topic often brought up
Any car will get swirls by using the drive thru wash. It's a fantasy to think that Tesla's require more careful washing. They don't, unless you want your Tesla to have a new car finish forever. Might as well not drive it at all. That will keep the paint looking fresh!

what if you just bought the 19" inch sport wheels? An extra inch more...right?
@@kaire1739 you mean half an inch. But yes.
I love that she put the title in a euphamistic way bcuz she loves the car.
Because she was trying to say what things she hates about the car.
For Winter areas, there is no heated steering wheel.
never had that in my cars anyway lol
Especially in an EV, a heated steering wheel is SO nice, and it's something most EVs, even cheap compliance cars, are available with.
E. Winter Tashlin It still I’ve never driven a car with it and it super not necessary
Perhaps you only saw 4 because the rest were at charging points 😅

Or waiting for repairs.
Actually some really good points made. Some things not mentioned by other seasoned car tubers. Like the ride height demo on the slope. Great review from England.
Is your electricity bill significantly higher after you started charging your car at home than before? always wondered this.
Energy is cheap although it can be higher than others in some areas. We use a lot of energy just leaving things plugged in and waste a lot throughout the year as Americans
you're supposed to charge during non-peak hours where electricity is at least 2x cheaper too
Jason Chau what are those peak hour times?
@@XProShopperX Check with your electricity company for the exact times but it's usually somewhere around 9pm-6am
I always use automatic car wash... nobody ever told me it has to be hand washed mine...
My model x goes through the car wash
Can I have your model x?

Hmmm I’ve run my model 3 through several different automatic car washes without any problems - u just have to shift the car into neutral and turn off ur automatic wipers if u have them turned on
The Supercharger Network is for long distance travel and not for charging in your city...
12,000$ later in tires, two- three curb incidents, a replacement set etc i eventually went down one size, 19", 40 tyre options, not 3 as with the 20" and the bleeding stopped three years ago....
i dont know why i watch these kind of videos even though i can't afford tesla or any car
1 and 3 are California problems
when it comes to price decreases think of a playstation, a phone or getting a coupon after you purchase something
i've always been super fond of the aero wheels so i see this as an absolute win XD
