I had the original Vietnam. It has hidden counters for the VC so you can conceal your strength, try to lure operations against ghosts - that's the tricky parts solo I expect. It's been decades so I am not sure how you might patch that.
Very nice! A nice haul! My order went less well. Ordered I, Napoleon plus Wing Leader in the first hour. Was quite chuffed. Then a week later got a mail from GMT saying I, Napoleon had sold out. With that the shipping to Europe on Wing Leader made no sense (nearly same as for both games) so I cancelled the whole order. Reinvested the money on some RPG books instead.
Nice haul! I, Napoleon and Twilight Struggle: Red Sea for me. I went back and forth on Tanto Monta as I love Here I Stand, and ultimately decided HIS was enough.
I also ordered For the People and was emailed that it was out of stock, so, on your recommendation (no pressure, albeit I don't have a 2 player COIN) I got Colonial Twilight instead. I also ordered GBOH (both Caesar and Alexander) and Virgin Queen. I too like CDGs and have played HIS once but wasn't keen on the 2 parts (religion and war) given that the Protestants can only compete in one of them. Hence got VQ. I have heard both positive and negative things about TM - good luck with it! Versailles is very different to Churchill. So different that I don't really see them as part of the same series. I think you will enjoy it! I will have to wait several more weeks for mine as all the UK orders are shipped out to Second Chance in one batch.......
You should have no problem getting a four player game of Versailles. It is not a wargame and it is not very complicated. You will enjoy the Deluxe version of Paths of Glory. It is very nice.
Having played the VG version of Vietnam both two player and solo id suggest its ok for solo. Likewise id say the complexity is more because its different to many games so concepts are different from many normal war games. Its a great game. Highly suggest the Victory Insider magazine articles on the campaign which can be downloaded from several locations. The new edition other than a much bigger map is basically identical to the VG. Version other than rule clarifications. Its a ripper game.
your thoughts on Tanto Monta as exactly like mine... I just want to try it out solo and see how the game plays even it is takes away and doens't play great it would be an excellent way to experience what this game has to offer... thanks...
Vietnam is super intriguing, almost got it recently myself. I believe it has a ton of hidden info and bluffing mechanics making it hard to solitaire so I haven't pulled the trigger. Maybe someone can come up with some solo house rules. In any case, will be watching for your review!
Hmmm kind of annoyed that you got your sale order in Australia and I haven't even received a shipping notification yet and I'm in the same country as GMT! Nice game selection. I was thinking about that Vietnam game but I only play solo so not sure it would be a fun game to do solo.
@@WiseGuyHistory 2 pm eastern time on the first day. I think this happened last year too. Took them forever to send that one out as well. I must be very low on their totem pole or something hah.
Had that happen often with GMT over the years. No shipping notice, folks in Europe getting their orders, then my order suddenly appears here in Indiana.
@@rockhopper01 That's probably P500 not this. For Europe the ship all the sale orders in one container which presumably goes out at the very end. At least I hope so since I put in my order with minutes to spare :)

Virgin Queen is a step up from Here I Stand and Tanto Monta is a HUUUUGE step up in complexity from VQ. Good luck!

Same thing happened to me with I Napoleon. Very frustrating experience.

Still waiting for the email that I, Napoleon is out of stock. I guess then I'll know mine will be coming.

PoG v2 is very nice, I love my copy and makes me want to play it!

I placed my order within the first 25 mins, and I think they process by order of time. When did you get your order in?

@@rockhopper01 If my order suddenly appeared here and then vanished because I wasn't notified it shipped I will be super angry.
