ABOUT GÉRALDINE
Hi! I’m Géraldine Lepère, the founder of Comme une Française (= “Like a French woman”) and your new French best friend. :)
Each Tuesday, I share a fun, fresh and bite-sized lesson on French language and French culture-from embarrassing mistakes to avoid to pop-cultural references to “get” !
For over five years now, with millions of views and students in over 56 countries, I’ve been helping people just like you gain the confidence to really talk in French. And better than the “textbook” French from high school!
You're so cool you help me with my french a lot so merci beaucoup
in the south of France, we emphase the end of the word so we pronounce more the last 'e' at the end of "verre"... so that make a difference between ver, vert, vers and verre.
This is something I've noticed about speaking in French ... a tendency to not pronounce the letters at the end of many words. Do the people in the South generally pronounce the ending letters?
Thank you for this. Your method of teaching French to English speakers is very helpful and effective. Merci beaucoup!
I just love your spirit and the way you make French cool. Now that I have said that... I want you to say and record “focus” 3 times and listen to this recording. Unlike French; focus cannot sound like that 🤣
Merci beaucoup Géraldine, you are magnifique! Yes, the fo syllable of focus is definitely pronounced "faux" !
Thank you
Cool stuff thanks
I've been following your informative channel for a couple of years now. Your lessons are very helpful and your command of English is excellent. But, remember, the first syllable of the English word "focus" sounds like the French "Faux." Trust me on this.
Yes! For a moment I thought she said something else
Geraldine, thank you so much for your lessons. Really enjoy them. How would you say ' I'm coming to your house around 8pm tonight ' i believe its another 'vers'
So useful
Thank you!
Thanks for this video and congratulation for your baby! 👶🍼 👶 🎊🎊🎊🎊
Super video ,ton explication parfait!!!!!!
could you please have a video on how to use "truc". I've been hearing it a lot but have no idea what exactly it means and how to use it.
NariTheMan I’m no French teacher by any means, but “un truc” is “a thing”. It’s similar to “une chose” but more informal. Use it the same way as you would “a thing”.
J’ai des trucs à faire = I have things to do
Thx so much PROF
merci beaucoup
J aime ces verres verts.
Could also be that the slipper was green. There are quite a few French words that make that sound
Je vais en metro vers Paris pour acheter un vers du ver vair. Does this work as a sentence?
Muito obrigada!! Excelente =)
J'ai bu un verre vert rempli de vers. Blech!

What is the VERY first thing you MUST learn when learning the french language? Also how do you begin? What do you do? How do stay consistent??? I hope you respond I REALLY wanna learn how to speak French! And it seems like you can help me get started.
Et «vers¬ veut dire aussi "about"; par ex. «j'arriverai vers seize heures" = "I'll be there about 4pm"
I've definitely hear the little tongue twister: le ver vert va vers le verre vert.
Quand je me mets au vert je vois toujours des vers vairs aux ampoules de verre lorsque je me tourne vers le nord.
The French: "we have a word that sounds the same but has 5 different meanings"
Chinese Ma: *has entered the chat*

"Mets mes mets sur la table, mais doucement" (from a grand-mère grammaire video)
Mon vers est la suivent: un ver rampait ver mon verre vert. Is is correct?
Alice Verberne almost. Un ver rampait verS mon verre vert. A worm crawling toward my green glass. Cheers.
How about "les vers vont vers le verre vert"?
Vert est la couleur d'espoir :)
In class, our teacher translated 'vers' as 'towards'.
That's more accurate
@@starsareangels thank you
Slightly off topic, but I came across a crossword clue that might amuse. It was something like "He is disagreeable but she's usually nice". Answer below.....
Aria.
Un aria = embarras, tracas
Une aria = song.
Le ver m'a surpris pile au moment de me lever
I'm French I use Vert to pronounce correctly Their, and They're or There in English...
You should make videos only in French, That would be great.
You can check out some of her videos that's all in French. Here's one for example - ruclips.net/video/0xr3T3FELHw/видео.html&t
"Le ver de terre un peu vair s'est tourné vers le verre vert" :-)
vers for approximately/about???????
More like 'in the direction of'. For the word approximately, I believe 'environs' is used. Example: Je vais prendre ma retraite dans environs dix ans. (I am going to retire in around 10 years. Or literally I am going to take my retirement in the area around 10 years.)
Après avoir couru sur le gazon vert, je me suis dirigé vers ma maison. Alors, j’avais très soif, et donc, j’ai rapidement bu un gros verre de bière. Puis, je me suis déshabillé, et nu comme un ver, j’ai pris une douche.
perfect
Cendrillon avait des pantoufles de vair et non pas des pantoufles de verre.
Mon petit copain a m’acheté un livre de vers.
Le ver qui rampe sur le verre vers Bordeaux est véritablement vert. K 😜😁
Je bois du vin vert dans un verre vert sur la pelouse verte au-dessus des vers. lol Did I get them all?
Le bus n'a pu aller vers Masaya
Gossett
Le vert ver va vers le verre vert
Le ver vert va vers le verre vert.
Quand il fait pluie ici, il y a beaucoup des vers par terre. (Desole pour des fautes!)
Le pantalon vert fût une tendance de la mode
Il y a des vers dans mon verre vert.
Je voudrais un verre du vin rouge!
Je me met au vert pour reposer.
Le vert va vers le verre vert. 😁
Je vais ecrire un vers sur un ver vair dans un verre vert!
J'ai bu un jus d'orange et mangé des bonbons verts
Je sais, du vin vert c'est bizzar. lol
le ver vert buvait un verre du vin
Dans mon verre vert il y a un ver.
Le mot "vair" n'est pas si utilisé en français parlé
5!?
Boit aux lettre = bois toilette
She meant all these 5 put together,
there are other words that sound like another word,
like : Haut, eau, au
and plenty others..
and your example is false ^^ Firstly because we're talking about single words, not group of words :)
I don't know how to explain you except doing this :
Boite au lettre = "Bwa to lètre"
