@@realharoRUclips? You do know the headset works with all iPhones and iPad apps right? Also, did you completely miss the fact that developers are working on apps? What you can do at the moment is watch media, attend events via headset, play game(regular games), use as a desktop setup for your Mac/MacBook, view 3D photos/ movies, purchase things online and be able to see it virtually like furniture, a car, etc. You could look at a car in your driveway! Also think about the enterprise market! VR games are coming, but there is a reason Apple don’t want to just push this as a gaming machine. That doesn’t sell units! Last but not least, Quest 3 just don’t have the power to compete with this device. It like your trying to justify that a Super Nintendo is just as good as a PS5 because they both play games on your TV. Think about that for a minute!

@@Aggie4life77 But what are you gonna do with iPhone apps? Like it's kinda convenient that you don't have to take the headset off to check something on the phone, but the main experience is gonna be worse than just using the phone in the first place. Similarly, the resolution and the comfort is still not good enough for a proper screen replacement, except for short amounts of time. Most of the things you can do on it are just an inferior experience compared to doing them the normal way without the headset.

The big thing not pointed out is that Apple just sold 180,000+ units on preorder with a profit margin over manufacturing cost of about 133% per unit based on analyst claims on their build cost... They just made over $300-$360 million net on preorders. Of course their advertising cost and R&D cost to recoup, but consider that Meta has NEVER had a single profitable year for Reality Labs, the division of the company responsible for Meta headsets. They acquired Oculus 10 years ago, not a single net profitable year and in fact over $40 billion in debt. Meta has admitted their pricing on hardware is "near break-even", following the game console strategy of profits on software royalties over hardware. Everything Meta has created in the past 10 years not supported by a functional business model for VR/XR tech but instead funded entirely off social media earnings.

They aren´t duking it out. Meta is going for the maximum number of people with a headset for lowest price possible, but as is customary with Zuck, you become a product to (ads).
Apple is going for the standard Warren "mote". A more refined but fancy product (they both do the same essentially), allowing them to extremely overcharge early adopters ( eventually dropping prices a bit).
Even more important for Apple, with this new headset added to the ecosystem, is getting people to use more and more of there services section, with even more overcharging to developers and consumers, getting plenty of margin to offset the lower volume of sales.

The two headsets cater to distinct markets, each with its own potential for success. A suitable analogy would be comparing an Xbox to a high-end work computer-they serve different purposes.

    1. It's Apple, they have an eco-system of smart and connected devices. Imagine connecting your phone, Macbook and HomePod (optional) to your goggles and doing virtually anything.
    2. The Metaverse concept existed in movies and we've gotten to experience that "idea" thoroughly and this is where Apple slides in and introduces "Spatial Computing", instead of building everything you need inside a virtual world, bring the virtual things to the real world. And I think Apple's strategy for immersion will be more helpful and productive (a bit scary too) while Meta's strategy is for fun and all... in my opinion.

She’s so wrong and only knows less than half of the reality of the metaverse. Media personalities aren’t technologists and they’re basically their limited information on commercials, press releases and stage presentations. She needs experts to assist her with this - real experts like Christopher Lafayette in Silicon Valley or so many others that have spoken at GatherVerse. She may look back at this very interview and realize how wrong her outlook was based on severely limited information. We dont blame her, how could she know?

VR and AR really is more about soft ware im far more confident in meta since they've proven to be more open ended and pc like than apple which has a more closed in eco system.

lol. Apps and game developers develop more for iPhones than android. Apple also earns more than COMBINED profits of Nintendo, Xbox, PC games, and Playstation..,COMBINED! in WWDC2023, Apple released game toolkit that translate games from months into weeks to Apple devices. Since users are buying in Apple...most developers develop for Apple. In Android and Windows, more are pirating and using APK.

The Vision pro (in all reviews) struggles the SAME with low light (because of the tiny cameras). Augment ? AHAHA, this is totall FAR from that and NOT a 3000 usd price difference. And Quest 4 WILL be catch up and be cheaper, has a way bigger accessories and software ecosystem, not to mention PCVR, the king of gaming. Oh and try to use weapons for ex in VR without force feedback with fingers only, good luck with that 😀And i bet the Quest 4 will get 4K displays, so...

Umm 😟 I am not sure why journalists think Vision Pro is just another Meta Quest. I have been using the demo and it’s literally nothing like Meta. In fact it is nothing like anything that has ever came out in the market. People, you are in for a big step into new spatial computing experience and yet I sense not excitement. Have you been eating up lazy news like this and click bait articles and videos too much recently?
