I'm looking at a unironic stage 1 and understand that VW may void my warranty in regards to the powertrain, but can you revert to factory tune before taking to the dealer for maintenance and then reflash?
Yes you can, however the dealer can still see how many times the ECU was flashed, which will still flag in the system if they plug it in and scan it. Some service departments understand this, and will work with you to avoid it! However, they also usually request that you bring it in stock, for liability reasons!
Trying to get a better understanding of the difference/benefits between the valved and non valved. How do you switch from valved to non valved when driving. I don't want anything obnoxious, but from time to time I wouldn't mind something louder. Maybe a stupid question.
On this particular exhaust, since it is for the Golf R, it simply uses the factory valves, so they would function just like stock, with a different/louder exhaust note. Some folks like to delete the valves and run it loud all the time - there aren't really any performance benefits unless you are having issues with them already. On exhausts for vehicles without valves (and even some WITH factory valves), like the GTI, these valves are usually controlled by a remote key fob. Some are even more advanced, like the Xforce Varex system, which includes a controller that lets you use your phone, as well as GPS data to open/close automatically in certain locations, RPM, speed, etc! No question is too stupid to ask! We are happy to help! Just let us know what you need!
There is a video that shows the two cans (alleged resonators), right after the firewall going back, is just two empty gutted cans. Supposedly it is from the RS3, but in that platform uses resonators and/or cats. And to be fair, exhausts need to be broken in.
I feel like catback exhausts for the mk8s both gti and R, it doesn’t really change the sound as much compared the the 7.5 or 7. How can we get more of a girthy or louder sound?
It's really hard to actually capture the difference on camera, unfortunately. It's definitely quite a bit louder, but definitely has a much deeper tone, and that's where the microphones don't really let it shine. But a downpipe definitely makes the biggest change!
@@shawnsabino3226 correct, not in this video! That video comes out soon, BUT our Pt. 3 video for the R series it does have the downpipe on it and you can hear it on the dyno. The sound is a little washed out by the rollers, but it gives a little sneak peek until the downpipe/catback combo sound video comes out!
Depends on goals, with the DP its substantially noticeable difference, but Unitronic designed their exhaust to be more of an OEM+ option for folks, there are certainly louder and quieter exhausts on the market for the R.
Its really up to personal preference! Milltek offers a little more modularity to get the sound louder or quieter. Thats what we run on our GTI! We have a whole exhaust play list with a bunch of exhaust combinations for the GTI so checking those out might help some!
@@BMPTuning milltek road+ is louder comparatively but quieter driving normally? I need louder but also with a muffler! Don’t want to go with the basic straight piped catback!

Oem exhaust is better 😂
Certainly sounds different in person, especially with the downpipe installed.
Hello, aftermarket is ,resonated!!!
If not mistaken, non is out of stock.
I'm sitting here like "well now it just sounds like you got a rattle."
For the $2000+ manufacturers are charging for minimal sound change, I'll just drop the stock and paint the tips black.
might even just do a muffler delete and keep the valves and call it a day lol

Any chance you can include weight & dyno comparisons?
That will more than likely be included in the next part as we did a downpipe as well!

By changing downpipe

They definitely do for the new GTI’s. They don’t have the OPFs like these Golf R’s and last gen GTI’s do.
no downpipe installed yet, correct?@@BMPTuning

Considering the cost of the system the difference is minimal. Down pipe is way to go

Unitronic or milltek road + for the Gti? I’m trying to decide

Would this fit on a mk8 gti?
There is a GTI specific version! www.bmptuning.com/products/mbrp-street-profile-exhaust-mk8-gti?_pos=1&_psq=mk8+gti+mbrp&_ss=e&_v=1.0
It dosent sound too diff from stock if anything its more for the improved airflow if anything
its louder, just a lot deeper of a tone so video doesnt really show it well.
Stock win for me, but something must happen
I like the look but still way to quiet gotta take out resonator something it's no different
It sounds like an exhaust leak with the valves closed! Definitely don’t like that.
Most valved systems sound kinda like that when closed tbf.
@@BMPTuning interesting I wonder why?
sell it without the resonator
unfortunately I don't believe Unitronic offers it this way!
just my opinion but its sounds terrible compared to stock
sorry, but that doesn't sound good
