It's a battlefield like no other on earth, where the elements and not enemy fire accounts for 95% of all casualties.
A cease fire line was mapped out in the lower country but the politicians didn't bother to negotiate a boundary here. It is after all, uninhabitable. But as the power struggle escalates, every bit of territory counts. The high altitude combat is costing each side $730 million dollars a year. At 19,000 feet both sides lose on average two soldiers a day to oxygen deprivation or frostbite. Those that are tough enough to survive often go mad with the 'Siachen Syndrome' - a result of the isolation, the constant bombardment, and the grim reality of having to kill the only other human beings they may see in their three month posting. Caught in the crossfire, a shell explodes overhead. Aimed at the small valley town of Athamuqam, these shells are designed to spray hundreds of deadly metal fragments. India's test of a nuclear artillery shell has the population daily expecting armageddon. We meet a truck-full of Kashmiris fleeing the besieged town in search of food. There is nothing low-key about this fighting, it's incessant and deadly. The K2 postings are a lesson in the lengths India and Pakistan are prepared to go, to secure the next victory in Kashmir.

Indian army is one of the Strongest and professional army in the world. They will never attack civilians. Even if the pakistani soldiers surrender then the soldiers never fire or kill them. History is proof
I am gobsmacked at the lack of objective and a usually responsible nature of the storytelling that I had come to expect of Journeyman pictures. And what is with the title?
journeyman pictures showing pakistan propaganda .
daydreamerindian actually they show both sides quite a bit.
There are approx 10 similar videos
11:10 nuclear artillery shell ? 😂😂😂😂 nuclear artillery shells were tested by US , and they abandoned them , why would india waste time on nuclear artillery shells
Jai Hind. Vande Mataram !
My respects to civilians and military who have fallen in the mountains. They are human beings should be living in peace with their neighbors. Long live the people of India. Long live the people of Pakistan. (From Venezuela)
As long as Pakistan doesn't stop terrorism the india cannot leave in peace
Woman nd children are in jungle nd men's are in road 🙂 wht is nonsence
At 13.35 when asked where the women and children were, the escaping "villagers" say that the women and children are in jungles over and above! Te pak officers quickly interjects to add that they have taken to "places'! And immediatly after that his expression tells us what he really wanted to say or what "bullshit" he really wanted to say! Total nonsense! I wouldnt be surprised if these so called "Indian artillery shells" were in real were pakistani army shells as a show for the European cameras and documentary filmmakers! :P

The knowledge of Pak soldier about equipments to face a nuclear weapon are masks, bunkers.. why not blankets and pillows :P ... Height of comedy, the pak commander feels the indian army lacks the courage to fight like a "professional army".. I guess he wants the Indian army to fight with water guns :P
Here is an Australian journalist adopting the Chinese propaganda fed line via Pakistan against India.
bravo45, I honestly believe if you covering a conflict you should take both sides views...obviously in a short reportage there is limited time to cover all issues, but still.
@7:40, the general says "We believe in jihad. And our cause is a principled stand"..hahaha
This is skardu ‼️ not the siachin
Australian Media should view this video once again, here it clearly shows that the civilians said around 17 locals died but the officer lied that 60 locals has died. Another important point is that the Pakistani Army Officer said that that Indian Army has been shelling in this area for 6-7 days and they didn't let the journalist to visit the front post but how could they irresponsibly allow these locals to go to the front post where shelling is going on and another surprising fact is that how could the locals find any food in such places isn't it the responsibility of the Pakistan army to advice the locals to move in a secured location where they can easily find food, atleast this first small step of the many rescue mission is made by the Indian Army when the Pakistani Army shells in Indian Civilians. So my news to the Australian Media is that this is a very big scam of media and i want to advice the Pakistani Army, the Western Media that if u wanna lie to the world then please make sure u hide this truth before embarassing urself. As for the Pakistani Commander in this video it is bold enough to speak boldly infront of media but the world has seen your true boldness in the 4 wars u faced with India, out of which in 1971 war u lost Bangladesh and 1999 war shows how boldly Indian Army overtook the ground where u think u held a solid foot and proved its boldness and safeguarded its motherland and prevented the Pakistani Army who were dreaming to cut off supplyline for Indian Army at the Siachen Post so that it could win the Indian hard won Siachen Post.So Pakistan stop ur proxy of showing how bold is ur Army who at the same time helps the intrusion of Terrorists in the Indian Occupied Kashmir
Well Done Indian army
First off, that scared commander who was hidden in the bunker was translating something else. Not what the gentleman were saying. I would say that it is most likely the Pak Army firing shells on their own territory, to give credence to the propaganda they're propagating. They didn't let him pass the check point, coz if they did, he would discover their conceit. Two things that caught me really surprised.
1. If the vehicle returning from across the checkpoint were normal villagers, then why would they leave their women and children somewhere else. The so-called villagers were telling their women and children were in the 'forest'. Why would anyone leave their women and children in the forest?
2. Isn't it rather extremely co-incidental that the so-called Indian Army shells started landing in that proximity at that particular time?? Co-incidental to the extent that all these sound pre-programmed exercise.
All the best trying to deceive the public. But we know how to bring the truth out to the world. India has been doing this since 1947, and will keep on doing it.
Balochi and Pakhtoon sisters and brothers, Indians support your struggle.
Nikal begharat . Ke bache ham kafiro ka sath nahi dete
This Australian docu from 1998 is pedestrian poor. It would have been a nice balance if they had bothered to visit the Indian side and take their viewpoint. The daily cost of the Saichen campaign was $5 million and not $2 million as mentioned by the reporter. India and Pakistan are not the poorest nations on earth, though the point about poor nations waging war is silly, is accepted. The Saichen problem has since been partially solved and the two nations are no longer fighting over it.
I'm getting a yellow journalistic vibe
The video has more no. Of dislikes than the no. Of likes😂😂😂
#longliveINDIA🔥
keep it in your mind indian army never attack on civilian s
@Anju: Actually he says "Saath, Satar" which mean 60, 70. Perhaps one might want to have another listen?
16:15 people lying on the cots look like soilders, not civilians.
To fight a nuclear war you have masks ...😁😁😁😁😁😅🤣🤣🤣
If you will check on the Indian side, you will find Exactly same story. There is No creditable explanation regrading which side is responsible for it.
@khawarparacha what's your name?

Alright go back to 14:00 and listen again he said "sat" and then "satar". which means 60 to 70. He mention two figures, idk where you heard satra?
Neither am I from India nor from Pakistan. I feel sorry for the innocent civilians living in this war torn areas. I think both these countries have to work their differences and provide better security for their citizens.
Can anybody believe what a Pakistani (Arab/Persian decendent) says in a land he is lucky to have to exclusively practice his religion while persecuting other religions. Hypocrisy is what is practised in Kashmir not democracy.
This motormouth at 7:45 is Brigadier Nusrat Sial CO 62 Brigade, whose heli was shot down by Indian army during Kargil incursion. Pretty sure he was in the thick of planning and movement to infiltrate in 1998 when this documentary was shot.
I see a truck with possible terrorist fighters being blown up. Where are the "civilians"????

Hi " journeymanpictures", there is erroneous depiction of map of kashmir..
LOC doesnt exist from north of NJ9842 onwards.. Its called LAC or AGPL.
Also the documentary is incomplete without hearing the Indian side or version.
Were you bankrolled by one of the many Pak Army/ISI institutions to document their story alone ?
As a journalist seeking truth and unbiased reporting, this basic knowledge is missing of checking the veracity of facts.
@TheKapali Just because you don't feel the bite' doesen't mean others haven't been bitten. Hope you understand.
This is an old video. We have a relatively peaceful ceasefire now, give and take a few unfortunate incidents.
Listen again..he says "satra"..and not "Sater" ..60 is pronounced as saat..
jokes at their best... can't be better than that guys. lmao
A very naive west . Movie made in 1998.
Every Islamic nation has been shown to spend incredible amounts of money on armaments. And the Pakistan's army has shown to justify it's existence by breaking the peace process.
11:54 Yeah I agree most professional army surrenderd 90000 professionally still cannot occupy siachin heights even tried 4 times. y
India and Pakistan should just open up their Siachen services to Western mountaineers. One gets the feeling with some of those guys that the only thing missing from a nice Himalayan death climb is some guys on the other side shooting at you. It'll still be less dangerous than climbing K2 with its 25% casualty rate. This way the armies can defray their costs by getting sponsorships from North Face and Oakly Sunglasses.
the general at around 8:00 was totally unproffesional...and that hatered for the indians ws clearly drippin
This documentary was named Siachen syndrome but now changed.
i see this war as pointless, i really do, both sides need to make peace rather than spending so much and risking so many lives ofpeople who deserve better lives like every other human being
you seem like a journalist...isnt it your duty to get the full picture
Yaaaaaaaaaawnnningggg !! little Panada needs hug
Pakistanis dont know how to fight professionally. They are afraid to recapture Siachen because Indian troops are at advantageous heights.
During kargil war it was just the opposite. Pakistani army occupied the advantageous heights in Drass and Kargil. But professional Indian soldiers recaptured all heights.
thats not Wagah border, can anyone else tell me where this REALLY IS
@24:06 Stop lieing Journeyman its not Wagha border....
From 23:31 that is like the biggest Comedy Theatre Thing I´ve ever seen.
Does anyone know Imran khan called Osama bin Laden 'Shaheed '
Couldn't watch past a few minutes. I used to like watching videos of Journeyman pictures. Now I think they have no credibility left. The journalists are very biased. Where's the effing objectivity ?
I am 100%sure people in truck were from Pak army
how u know india canot fight it out??
Love the bizarre Quanto ads at the start! :D :D
@trbnair he is talking about indians firing on civilians and their lack of courage, what do you expect him to wave at bhartis while they fire???
pakistani soldiers started firing to show off.
that army officer , despite his boasting, was cleared scared.
I liked the way he said " for your safety" .." we live here and are not afraid"...haha...his entire cheeky face was telling other wise
As an Indian I very much regret the comment made by Juergen4020. Bringing god into this whole issue is just ridiculous .
@ 20:30 minutes they are speaking punjabi and not a kashmiri. So looks like he told the untrue story. Moreover when he asked do you get letter from other side of border (which is impossible) she replied I have 5 sons and left one there. totally staged.

Go find yourself some facts. This is Pahari language. Spoken in western and southern Kashmiri.
Fighting for rocks and sand......terrible and unbelievable !
how stupid can you be to send troop to mountains to fight over empty area which you can't inhabit
thats what i am saying. in those 9500 there was civillians, police personnals, and razakars.
the villager said , all women and children are in forest .. ( i guess )
then commander translated ... women and children are safe ...
come on .. i don't think its Mard to leave women and children in forest and leave ..
and what that macho acting commander talking about ... wrong translation ..
i understand cats are known as lion in Pakistan.. you don't havereal lion or tigher in Pakistan but can find in India.. Indian soldiers are called lions.. JAI HIND

Thanks for this comment.
what lesson did your army teach ??
one word..peace
Or indian side me jab firing hoti he tab kya???
Biased media!!!
this is not siachen. lol. soldiers are with wool caps and without gloves.
please correct knowledge it was British india not this one.
i believe it would have been better if you had come to the other side and seen the situations around there...the arty shelling is an every day activity from the other side mostly on the civilian areas...one of the reasons being the pak army trying to push in jihadis...killing several civilians every day...another mistake was you saying that india carried out mountaineering campaigns...when its a world known fact that pakistan carried out these campaigns to K2 and further in siachen
Kind of funny.. I like the part on 17 casulties made into 60.. Mr. Journeyman, go to indian side, if you want 2 hear and see some thing truthful
"They do not have the courage"...have u forgotten 1972 . Highest number of POWs in the world history.
Do u forgot the 1962 of AKC how China beat down the Ass of India
This Raja ishaq khan ultimately died of hunger in Pakistani occupied Kashmir😂😂😂
what the hell r u talking about?
seems like the pak army forces there need to raise at least one air mobile division like the u.s had in vietnam, to take those mountain tops. id say 3 divisions. land troops on the tops while drones knockout the artillery and sams, then send in the armour.
lol, firstly, im not white, and secondly, i was actually suggesting a recommendation that would benefit pakistan and give it the advantage.
yes its still on going but i doubt they have implemented such a plan, they dont have the money, and their armor isn't as good as it needs to be to support a high ground invasion, which is why the two focus on artillery duels. but pakistan will invade again and ultimately win the region, not only kashmir but india, with chinese and muslim allies help
it will be implemented.
He said "sathra men died". That means seventeen and not sixty. Does the pakistani guide even know hindi?
Thats called jealousy, hatred, and lack of listening power :)
listen again what he said "sath satr aadmi" = 60 to 70 ppl.
makes me more proud :-)
It was horrifying to see those civilians describing their pain. Felt pain and bad for those people. The only thing I could see in defense of the firing is because of those flags in support of Guerilla force giving a reason to believe for the Indian army that the Guerillas were there. Britishers when could not control the unity of Indians freedom fighters, they decided to break Ind by dividing at the time of independence. Little did they know that both these nations would fight over a piece of land ignoring the lacs of people dying at both ends forever. Pak in order to win against Ind ran towards USA and China where as Ind towards Russia. Apne ghar ke maslo ko bahar walo ne kab aake theek kiya? Russia sells its arms to Ind and US controls Pak internally. Though, this arms race is money spinners for the West, it has not given anything but more insecurity and a stronger push to inch towards another war at any moment. People in the West united and cleared all their differences, however, both these nations do not have the maturity and not considerate enough to prevent the deaths of many on both sides. I don't mind giving Kashmir to Pak. I don't mind freeing Kashmir either. What I believe in a bigger cause that is to have peace on either sides and happy faces all over. Both sides would save millions and billions that have to be spent just for a paltry land. Ind or Pak will not have any economy crisis if they let go of Kashmir. Politicians don't have the courage to take such decisions because you can't make everyone happy and how can 50-60 years of history be erased overnight. But somewhere someone has to start something. What we have to look is at a bigger cause than just some land. We live the same way, we almost speak the same way. We adore people and celebrities from both sides then what goes wrong. Would I get to see peace over Kashmir in my lifetime, I am not sure. Can only pray and keep hopes.
Rahul Gautam never , it's a worse situation than gaza as far as occupation.
Never. Violence is the way.
Kashmir was the land of Kashmiri Pandits which the mujhahiddins occupied illegally killing lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits..Why should we let them take our land??
