    Among my favorite plug ins. I believe the reason they don't do external VST is because it would immediately invite in compromises. Latency would get crazier, code would be less efficient, future scaling for bigger projects gets way more complicated having to support other peoples crap, they would be limited to a standard not in their direct control and the bugs would surly increase, ect... I have used other options that do support vst format and all of these issues came up and more. I hope they keep away from vst stuff, as the current suite of fx is great and they are always adding to it, the quality is very high. Those are some reasons I actually don't mind that they stay away from it.

    Hello! Good one but I would recommand Bluecat MB7 mixer. It does the same and has plugins vst/ component capabilities. Bye and thanks as alsways!

      I was about to make the same recommendation. Bluecat MB7 is exactly what he was expecting from Multipass at the beginning of the video.

    Reaper already has a multiband splitter/joiner to use your own plugins in the same way this KH stuff does with snapins.

      Reason has it too. But this is just pure convenience IMO

  • @liamhebden8857

    Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer does add your own plugins to individual frequencies, it will probably have latency issues so would need to be used either on a master or be re-sampled in a mix... or adjust that some how... I wouldn't be bother enough to do that.
    Great vid again, Thank you!

    Fab Filter Saturn basically does this, minus the delay. You can saturate bands independently and modulate them with LFO’s and do a billion things with it. You can also just get Metaplugin and make any multiband combo of any plugins you want.

    • @supersquare
      @supersquare 5 лет назад +1

      +1 for Metaplugin. I've tried plugin chainers from Bluecat, Melda, MuTools, Kilohertz, and ImageLine, but Metaplugin is easily the most versatile, stable, and lightweight of them all.
      Metaplugin and Midishaper from Cableguys is why I never picked up multipass along with the other snapins that I bought.

  • @derekmidgley
    @derekmidgley Год назад +2

    Interestingly they've changed the way they price these - now you can get a huge bundle of these - they call them "essentials" - for free. And then you're going to want to buy Multipass or Snapheap to rack them in complex ways. Lots of fun!

  • @heavymetalmixer91
    @heavymetalmixer91 6 лет назад +6

    All of the KiloHearts plugin can be used as a standalone too btw, and inside the Snapin (that it's like a virtual VST host or rack). From the free plugins they have I really recommend the Delay one.

    blue cat audio makes something like this that you can use your own vst's with which is awesome. it can also wrap vst's to be used in aax format

  • @tennhard
    @tennhard 5 лет назад +2

    I definitely like the idea, but as you pointed out VST support would be great. Bitwig has actually implemented that. It has generic 2 band and 3 band frequency splitters that can host arbitrary effects chains that can utilize both Bitwig's own effects as well as any VST.

    They have sales, and I think I paid $179 (US) for the entire works suite

    Also, you can now rent it monthly

    On the other hand, pretty much every reverb and delay or even chorus plugins have filter knobs, where you can set the band where your effects will take place. So the cheapest version of this plugin is actually a bit of a snake oil. It really becomes useful with the more expensive versions where you get more unusual effect options.

    Using Ableton you can create a audio effect chain, split in various hz with eq and the use any effects in the certain frequencies

  • @Elmex_1
    @Elmex_1 6 лет назад +3

    I like the design and the idea of doing all this complex stuff all in one plugin (different routings, serial / parallel processing, different busses and what not), but what about the quality of the individual building blocks? I think it may be way cooler if you could this sort of stuff with one's existing 3rd party plugins, cause let's face it, we all have our favorite plugins (be it some modern/new take on a compressor/limiter/fx/other tool , or very VERY well done hardware emulation of existing).
    Yeah the end results matter most, with enough fiddling you can make stuff sound great even with "so-so" building blocks (those individual snapins), but I bet you could maybe get either better results, or more enjoyment, if you could do that same process (in either easier way or in one plugin) with your existing "favorite" / "top-tier" plugins/building blocks.

  • @octopusonfire100

    Cool concept. Probably you're aware of this, but Reaper has a couple js plugins that could achieve something similar: The "3 band splitter" and the "Channel mixer" to sum up the split signals. Fun stuff.

    • @studio.kaedinger
      @studio.kaedinger 6 лет назад +1

      Octopus On Fire Yes, I was just going to mention that. I'm using this method a lot, especially when applying diverse reverbs on different bands. Also, for instance, panning a mono piano to stereo left/right according to frequency range. Also, the hardware routing for different bands is easy as pie. There's no way I'd spend money on this when I have far more flexible tools inside Reaper already.

  • @liamhebden8857
    @liamhebden8857 4 года назад +1

    I have a question... I will be sticking with software mostly because of money but was think about getting a standard 8 channel (4 stereo) tape machine and a 2 channel tape machine... will the cheap-ish one's do? like Akai ect...
    I know they will work for some things but could they be used as a all rounder or would you suggest waiting to get higher end ones for a all rounder?

  • @enduromusicproductions2351
    @enduromusicproductions2351 4 года назад

    Got Kilohearts full version included with Slate Digital All Access Pass. About to go into remaster mode on our existing sessions. And, yeah, Reaper has the routing tools to add your own FX chains. No real need to with the Snap Heap full setup, though. Crazy good work flow.

  • @mataya909
    @mataya909 5 лет назад

    One of Reasons devices has "multi level splitter" called sunder. You can split a signal of a snare for example into three volume levels and apply for example a compressor on a signal peak and chorus on a mid level signal and a reverb on a low level signal. Thats LEVEL, not freq bands. Pretty sick stuff. Enjoying it. And yes, you can even add your own VST. Reason is the boss in sound design.

  • @j-gatzguitaristproducerson8569
    @j-gatzguitaristproducerson8569 4 года назад

    I happen to think kilohearts makes some of the most quality sounding plug ins and are slept on for what reason I'm not sure. True you have to use the aux outs to achieve using non kilohearts snape ins and may slow down work flow but like almost anything you can set it up save it as a template and save some time that way. Sound design is all about experimenting and being as creative as you allow yourself to be which takes time itself. You may have a missed opportunity if you do not spend the required time needed to experiment. Each to their own I love this plug in and would recommend it to those who seek creativity outside the box. this is one of my go to's straight out the gate!! Shout out to everyone at Kilohearts!!

    I have to say that this plug has a lot of potential. I mean, I do use Studio One, but this has everything in one place and you would have to use the splitter thing. I give it a thumbs up! Still not going to give up all my Fabfilter plugs though. Love them too much. But if I was starting, this would probably be most of what I would need.

    If you use Ableton, you can do this with the audio effects rack. Assuming your chains start with an EQ, each chain in the rack can be restricted to specific bands. I made a simple three band delay effect without much effort.

    Ha! I just love how much fun you're having with that snake! Could you please explain the Sandstorm from De Rut joke? I still haven't found a video that explains that, but it's funny how dryly you say it, like it's totally new, and it won't be a completely song from the last time you made the joke. I really wish I understood the joke!

    there's another way avoiding this plug in :D ... in fact I want to use my plug ins and not to be obliged to use their ones/
    Thus Duplicate the track and send the original and duplicate to a sub.
    Then, filter out the band you want to effect, on the duplicated track. And apply the plug in to that filtered band ...
    At the same time, cut out the processed band on the original (if you need, or if you want).

  • @TonyPelosi-music
    @TonyPelosi-music 6 лет назад

    It seems a great approach to new sounds. Got me an idea of splitting a track in 3 ranges ( using bypass filters) and the processing (or not) each one separately and bringing them back. Would that work like it? ( of course, this plugin is a great saving time for that)

    This is one of those cases where you have to decide if for the same prace is it worth or better to spend those 1014 EUROS in an analog procesor for me i would not spend that kind of mony in digital software unless it is a good emulation and the real thing cost a fortune, that is the ony case i would go for a digital representation, but in this case it is ridiculous that a 100 EURO tool needs more than 300 EUROS worth of invesmetn to work, not logical y my mind and does not make any sence at all, a 200US dollar Izitope software brings everything you need, this is old school mentality and the reason why i don't like to by digital tools that often because of that ridiculous pricing, for me i will spend that money in analog, this is truly SNAKE OIL hand down.

    Those saying they use this plug on everything they own must have purchased the r2r version... no serious guy would ever spend 500 bucks on a plug-in that literally splits the frequency into 5bands and allows to chain dumb 'snapins', that cost 19, 29 bucks, etc, as simple as a gain button... a chorus, phaser... even an 'hass effect'...
    Nobody would EVER put 500 bucks on it, let alone buy the core plugin and keep buying separate snapins, for a total of 1'100 $/€ !
    With that money, any serious guy, or even just a smart guy, would rather pick an ableton live, studio one or even cubase, and then, buy fl studio or Reason 10, and slave it inside the main daw...
    BETTER: would over 1'000 bucks, a guy would be able to purchase a fantastic delay plugin, as well as a chorus, phaser, reverb, compressor, eq, distortion, arpeggiator (keanu cream costs 35 bucks and probably is the best arpeggiator/trancegate out there...along the 45 bucks xfer Chthulu arp...), and even buy a plugin capable of splitting frequencies, like blue cat audio...and then create amazing effect chains, with amazing top plugins, WITH THE possibility of using/adding our own vst plugs to the effect chains...and WITH ALL THESE PLUGINS, one wouldn't even get close to the 1'000 bucks mark ! ! !
    This kiloherts and its insane prices are lucky to have the support and ads from kvraudio... and because the dev must be making a ton of cash with this plugin scam, I'm sure they are paying like 20% of the cash back to kvraudio and a few other forums...
    No serious website, reviewer or pro user would ever praise this plug-in, and dare tell users 'ohhh, it's great, go and go throw your 500/1000$ down the toilet'... NOBODY would ever say it.!
    This plug-in would be a nice little plugin, at 69 or 79 bucks, with ALL the snapins. 500 or 1100 bucks for it, it's a true scam.
    Again, any serious user would rather spend 500 bucks on a soundtoys bundle, flux... fabfilter... uhe bundle...mmelda bundle..or simply buy top quality separate plugins... than THIS SHIT.
    Please, don't promote this trash. And worse, the demo only comes with a few selected snapins... users can't even 100% test it. What a scam.
    This plugin deserves getting cracked and pirated, to avoid people wasting tons of cash on a product they can only test about 15-20% of the full product.
    Just imagine the kid that nust started making music... got some hardware... bought his first daw... and wherever he goes, he has tons of ads for this shit.... it looks so promising and amazing, the kid will grab all his saved money and will buy it, thinking the plugin will turn all his beginner productions into radio-ready hits with amazing effects everywhere, because... everywhere he would go, he would get ads for it.
    Again, please, guys, don't promote this crap, DON'T BUY this crap, and if, you really really really think you need it and it's gonna enhance your tracks like magic, do yourself a favor, and search for the R2R version, SO YOU CAN test 100% of the app, with 100% of the snapins !
    Ps. I'm not promoting piracy ! I'm just asking people to find and try an alternative way to install and TRY the app with ALL its snapins available, instead of trying a dumb demo with only 20% of the content!
