- My voice is gone from a nasty cold, so instead of struggling to talk thru this video, I'll be sharing an ambient song I wrote & performed a few year's back. The illustration is a comp for a packaging project for a hot sauce company. Enjoy the video, the illustration, and the song!
THE ILLUSTRATION:
A packaging comp project where I'll digitally separate the ink from the background and them add color in either Photoshop or Procreate.
I still wanted to play with a color palette, so after capturing the ink drawing, I chose to paint it with watercolors. That was the fun part!
GEAR USED:
• Arches Hot-Pressed Watercolor Paper
• Black Posca Markers
• Schmincke Super Granulating Watercolors
• Princeton Aqua Elite Round Brush #8
MUSIC: [Intro]
• “Still Fall” by M.D. Campbell © 2024 M.D. Campbell • All rights reserved
• "Low Flying Planes (Solo Journey)" by M.D. Campbell © 2024 M.D. Campbell • All rights reserved.
(This song is a loose, interpretable ambient song, inspired by the work of Brian Eno, about a person's solo journey through life with the highs & lows.

Get well soon! Love to watch you work. It’s awesome!
Thank you so much! You're very kind and I hope to feel better soon! lol!
The narrative without words in the music was fun, I am glad you played it, though I am sorry the reason you had to was illness.
I am loving the results you are getting with those Schminke watercolors. They are impressive.
Feel better soon.
Thank you, robineliason7850!! I appreciate your thoughts and kind words. And yes, the Schmincke paints are unique! As for health, after three weeks of this cold, I think it's finally starting to break! Cheers! ~ Mark
The pollen count jumped up early this year, hope you are back to your ole self very soon. The music sounds like it would get you going for the day with a cup of java in a lime cup.☺️ I need a coffee break. Schmincke paints are great and so is your art. 😵💫
Thank you so much, my friend. Nine days later and I'm still fighting this cold! ugh! Hopefully it will pass soon and I can get back to things! I hope you're doing well and thank you for taking your time with this one! ~ Mark
Get well soon! Sending good vibes! 💝
Thank you, moma-b! I appreciate that!
@@MDCampbell I hope you feel better by now. ☺️
@@moma-b thank you! Believe it or not, still lingering! Not Covid, just a cold... but it's lasting a long time!! Very kind of you to ask! I'm grateful! Hoping you are doing well! :)
@@MDCampbell I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope it gradually gets better and better. 🤞I'm missing your videos. But I go back to the old ones and rewatch them. 😊
Get well soon, squeaky-voiced teen!
Thank you so much! (cough, cough!)
Do you do the color digitally so that it's easy to change? Amazing illustration!!
Thank you so much, kathylovesmk!! And yes, part of the reason to color digitally is to experiment with potential color options. Also, when an art director or client says, "we changed the style guide colors from blue to red," then you have to be able to adapt the illustration to suit the changes. Years ago, you'd have to do the illustration all over again to change colors after-the-fact. That was NOT fun. lol!! Stay well! ~ Mark
