- Ed Sheeran did a surprise support set at The Darkness's show in The Roundhouse, London on Saturday 9th December 2023. Ed also decided to join The Darkness on stage to perform their song Love Is Only a Feeling! It was fantastic. Here is their first rehearsal together backstage in the dressing room before the show starts! The full official live performance will be released this weekend!

Ed would have been 12 when this came out. Great clip guys, makes me remember that even the biggest names in the world are at the end of the day, and in a certain essential way never any bigger than the greats who came before them, because without our teachers and those who've inspired and paved the way for us, it's impossible to say where we'd be or if we would be anywhere at all.

as a live long metal head, that grew up listening to all the florida death metal bands, norwegian black metal bands, and all types of extreme metal bands, I've ALWAYS loved this song. the darkness kicks ass, period.

Had to do a double take last Saturday, I wasn't expecting to see Ed Sheeran on that stage. But it was absolutely brilliant, thank you so much. Best night I've had in a while, and absolutely one of the best concerts this year for me.
The mark of a beautiful song-whether rocked out on electrics and amps or just jammed on acoustically backstage, even by giants in their respective different genres-remains still, a beautiful song, that was beautifully played and sung. Cheers!

More like this is a super typical chord progression that is simply easy to jam over for any musician worth their salt. No offense to Ed and co here, they did a super good job. Just that it doesn't take a musical genius to do any of this at all.
This is one of the most positive, wholesome, happy impromptu-like performance I've ever had the pleasure to watch and listen to. Something about it made me smile from start to finish. Thank you for posting it.
I always love the words to Darkness songs but there’s something wonderful about the lyrics to this one in particular. “An assault my defences systematically failed to withstand” and “The state of elation that this unison of hearts achieved” are so rhythmically perfect that I can never just listen to it once. I feel like that hyena in The Lion King who, when the other one says “Mufassa”, shudders & goes “Do it again!”. 😅 IDKY but it tickles my brain in the best way! 😂 JH is such a brilliant lyricist. Wish he got more recognition for that.

I grew up as a teenager hooked on the darkness. There was 13 year old me sat next to my 5 year old sister in the back of the car and she would be screaming "get your hands of my woman you cunt" and none of us batted an eye lid because all of your songs brought us together, and still do to this day. you guys are a British Gem
